Pevs doesn't play for a pie and a pint either just quietly.

Understand Canterbury squad name last night with someone there taken notes the following players included (they miss a couple of players) :

Fair point on peves but I must say we do have some quality pies down here in Canterbury and a fair few micro brewery's that do a pretty decent pint. Some of what I've said about ACFC is tongue in cheek but rather than penalise them it would be nice if we could all get similer packages then we might have a more even league and possibly more interesting to the fair weather brigade.

Not trying to start up this again but.
FYI Canterbury United have only had $80k in funding from local pokies in the last 6 months.
Compare that to a gambling promoting club that is no way a sport or fitness [Horse Racing] gets $400k from the other end of the country listed under the Sport & Fitness allocation, figure that out and tell me it's just about completing a form.

Good job that all the local junior and senior players put a few $ in for the Dragons to continue. Maybe as stake holders we have a right to know who is getting paid what and have it listed in the annual report. I have no problems if it's money well spent and performances and effort by them match the coin.

Keith, Andy & Martin with a few days out from the season start have put in a good shift in trying to get capable players in the squad.
More from me on the trial process to be typed later when time allows.

Problem with that is, as has been said before, no player in the NZFC is supposed to be getting any coin. All that aside I can't wait for this season to get underway and I hope we can stick it to the Auckland clubs this year.

I believe there was some issue with the QSL that lead the Brisbane teams to leaving and forming a break away competition awhile back. I think they are trying to re-build the top league and have plans in place to bring back a combined league.

Coey was with Brisbane Wolves. Which is a different team.

You wouldn't think it was only four days to the first game of the new season. Rumour has it only 13 at training last night & 3 of those being GKs.

Ticket is $13 seems good value, last year was $10 at Tahuna which must have been the worst facilities in the country, hardly good enough for school 1st X1 football.

Might be keen for that, just have to get off work!

Top of the table with a clean sheet. Don't need the weekend off from playing though.

Word at the Tsunami T/ment was he made a save from close range, ball over the bar off his thumb in a training game during the week.

Lads played well yesterday, positives are that we look very dangerous going forward with the front four all looking like they could score at any time. The depth of the squad looks good too with the makeshift defence looking very solid apart from a 5 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half. Because we're playing  more to a shape than man marking its hard to tell yet if a better team like Auckland would have found the gaps for the triangles around us. Manawatu tried to do that to us but unfortunately for them the 3rd or 4th pass always seemed to go astray. The captain and one or two young boys looked tidy on the ball but they probably need another 3 or 4 players down the spine if they want to get off the bottom of the league this season. Shame Auckland got 5 because it would have been nice to see what the view was like from the top of the league. Still 3 pts good but not getting to excited we started well last year and then had a big slump in the middle so cautiously optimistic.

All quiet on the western front here this week. Lads have a session game sunday around 10.30 think its at ASB. Apologies to poolmisterI won't be their, work again. Roll on next weekend, could really do without these breaks between games.

Hello. I am a Waikato fan and would be interested to hear Canterbury fans' views of their teams prospects ahead of Sunday's match against what will be relatively raw and unproven opposition.

Have to say that I expect us to win but then Waikato has been our bogey team over the last few years and whenever we meet each other, the form book goes out the window. The feeling in the camp is that if we let you guys play then we could spend a lot of time chasing the ball and with a warm day forecast for tomorrow thats the last thing we want to be doing. The tiger turf should allow both teams to get the ball down. Definately more strength in depth this year. The front four of George, Darren, Matty and Kamo mean we're gonna create more chances than we did last year. Personally I was impressed with Hicks last year and found him difficult to mark as he found them gaps between midfield and attack.

If Canty are serious contenders this needs to be 4 or 5-0..

Has anyone the play report from the play Canterbury United vs. YH Manawatu? I can�t find them in the internet or on the official ASB-Site.

No, they have the general match report - http://www.nzfc.co.nz/index.php?id=1527 - and most likely accidently wiped the play by play updates before they saved them.

They have had trouble recuiting in some centres so not sure if there ever were blow by blow comments.

EDIT : Actually the first TeeDubs game ones are gone as well (I think) and there was definitely web commentary on that.  Maybe noew policy is they are replaced by the reports.
