pretty poor. no excuse for the lack of digital information from any of the franchises

waitak are silent as usual. kick them out if they can't start promoting the game properly

piss poor from hamilton wanderers given they are new to the league, they're just re-posting stuff articles on facebook. apparently they have some problems with their domain, no excuses. do they have problems with facebook and twitter too?

eastern suburbs official page is terrible, but at least they have one and their promotion through player signings is cool

tasman are doing well but need their own website. i would have thought this would have been one of the first things any new franchise would do, but they are doing well

TW and ACFC kicking butt

as a neutral (pretty much) what is the issue with the Suburbs page, just curious as I am helping them out with comms so keen to see if there is any areas that can be improved easily.

hi chopah, IMO mainly the poor design and navigation, but also there is a real shortage of SS prem info and it's difficult to find

for example here is the page titled 'ss premiership' http://www.easternsuburbs.org.nz/sspremiership2016... empty

do some tests, try pretending you don't know who the first team coach is and use the web site to try to find out. try to find out who's on the playing roster or who's signed this week. try to find out where and when the first games is. i'm sure it's all there but high priority info needs to be thrust in front of visitors

football club web sites are not easy because they have to develop community, information, profile and news. people will come mainly for information  but if you can get them engaging through the website (news) and checking back regularly, the web site becomes more effective

this is a great example of how a club's web site could be effective http://www.arsenal.com/home. granted they are mainly concerned with the EPL team, but everything is there and easy to find

thanks for the feedback - I do know they are trying not to make their website SSP dominated as they want to recognise it's only a small part of their existence as a club so I think the lack of SSP all over their page is on purpose - but as for the blank page that's not ideal.

I think the match day program will be interesting and once they have worked through their naming of the team stuff they will post a lot of that stuff on the webpage.

no worries bro

strange, i would have thought the existence in the SS prem is a great way to drive engagement among members and fringe stakeholders.i would have thought it would make members proud. but i guess the kiwi way is to put awesome things in a box and store it in the corner. and what's the 'harm' anyway? it's the off season so right now it's pretty much the only part of their existence

the web site puzzles me because everything else about the club and their whole existence in the SS prem screams quality. i'm sure the match day program will be great as well

I think and I am not in the know here but from what I can pick up is that Eastern Suburbs don't want their winter club ops effected by the Summer League and so I think they are taking a softly softly approach here - I guess it's a little different for say Team Wellington who are their own identity and can market as much as they like without damaging say the Miramar brand?

That said it needs to be better than it is and I will follow up and see if we can get it updated a little!

This sort of discussion is great - the fact it's even being brought up now shows the game's growing. Won't always be easy or perfect, but it's happening.

Pics and report on the abysmal performance by the Mainland Futsal Dragons mens team in Dunedin.

http://footballsouthnz.co.nz/Futsal2016/2016%20Nat...

Two spankings and lucky Southern took the foot off at what 6 nil up in the Sunday game.

Big ups [NOT] to the Mainland Dragons Futsal staff and executive for charging players $150 just to train in the wider squad.

Question is are the SSPL Dragons going to be asked to pay to be part of a training squad?

This is the latest from THE Mainland website.

http://www.mainlandfootball.co.nz/index.php?id=44&...

Southern do the media promo and reports from one person. Unpaid I think. Something that Mainland can't match with a staff of 14 which includes a paid marketing and communications manager.

This again a top job from the Southern crew.

Canterbury United badly needs its own website - I've suggested it to Mainland Football but they don't seem interested.

One great thing I notice about the Eastern Suburbs website is that they are posting their matchday programs there.

Here is their Youth League program from last weekend. It's an amazing effort for a Youth League program with colour photos etc.

http://www.easternsuburbs.org.nz/UFresource/esafc_...

If that's their youth program, I look forward to their SS Premiership one !

I think that Southern United's website is okay too with all the info you want  - and up-to-date:

http://www.southernunited.co.nz/

You won't find the squad listed when you click on Homepage headings 'The Club" or "Senior Team".

But an up-to-date squad can be found under 'Latest News"

Good match reviews and previews by veteran journalist Rab Smith too.

Got this in a Mainland newsletter during the week, pretty good program I think, same as what you'll buy at the ground

Canterbury will disappointed not to take the 3 points after leading twice. Tasman though battled well and certainly did not look out of place ath this level. Their defence coped reasonably well with Canterbury and they largely held their own in the midfield. A good game overall.

Some thoughts:

- Messenger is not a centre-back, he's just a bit too rash to play there.

- Wisenfarth (#7) had some classy touches but his passing and decision making was absolutely shocking. Also missed a guilt-edged opportunity in the 2nd half.

- Canterbury were very poor in transition. Only towards the end when De Jong and Clapham found space in the pockets did they look more threatening.
- Hoyle received virtually no ball but held the ball up well mostly.

- Spain was practically anonymous. He's wasted outwide.

- The Canterbury fullbacks need to offer more width.

- If Canterbury play like that every week they won't make the top 4 so plenty to work on.

Also attendance 700+ which is pretty impressive. Hopefully they can keep that up throughout the summer.

Farkkkkkk, how good was Clapham? Just a class above anyone else on the pitch . That movement for his 2nd goal was simply class . He never stands still either.

Aaron Clapham now scored in all of the last five games for the Dragon's, seven goals in total, all but one from the penalty spot.

The interesting thing about Clapham's 2nd goal, and his position on the field vs Southern, was how deep he was sitting. He still managed to get forward from a holding mid role. Well done Mr Clapham. Hope other clubs are watching.

Apparently the Dragon's draw last weekend was the first goalless draw in the last 203 games of our national league going back a few years, according to the NZ Herald.

So one thing about our league is that you're guaranteed goals...

I see (after I bought my $10 ticket yesterday) that they dropped the season pass to $70 for the remaining 8 games. They may have sold more than 6 if they had advertised it.

And what about the goalie(s) wearing the same colour as the ref?  Pretty sure my club would have been hauled over the coals for that one if it happened in the MPL.

I've seen it in several games this season, so perhaps it's not a thing anymore?

Yes, IIRC, Lily Alfeld was prevented from wearing a pink goalkeeper's jersey as the refs were in red in the National Women's KO Cup Final a few years back.

But it's a fairly trivial, if occassionally amusing, thing to focus on.

Good crowd for both games yesterday, with the stand full for the Pride game with many then leaving and nearly 800 watching the Dragon's.

Good weekend all around with the Youth Dragon's making it a clean sweep when winning on Saturday.

Not good PR again. Maybe they didn't want to give out too many Dragons scarves with the season pass.

I'd have got a $70 pass yesterday as well with or without the knitting.

An added time goal (90 + 3) to Stephen Hoyle saw Canterbury United draw 1 - all away to Hawkes Bay United and maintain their unbeaten this season.
