Yet Chang signs, do these coaches know what they're doing!

Anyone know anything about this signing from Western Suburbs?

With the current football season finishing up I thought it would have been a good time to promote the upcoming CU season? Nothing really on promotion apart from some Press articles announcing players. With finals day at Warren Park, Chatham Cup and English Cup coming up there is a real chance to sell it to the masses.

Seeing as we all pay Canty Utd levies, I suggested to CU ages back that each person gets a free entry ticket. Might get a few people through the door and maybe return the next week.

Hopefully the 2016/17 $90 season pass for 9 games (which they were still selling the next week for 8 games.....) will be looked at considering it's $10 gate entry.

I'd pay that per game to watch the drama on the sideline!

Compare that to the free entry for Tasman.

Just the signings so far, although there's been plenty of those. Will ramp up now that the winter season has ended.

So I suppose that one of the reasons that Canterbury clubs contribute to the Dragons coffers is for the development opportunities for our local players. I wonder if we'll be asked to support Southern and Tasman as well.

So I see again we've gone out of "town" for stikers (no surprise from Gerdsen). But who is "Liam Gerathy" in the squad, and what that hell has he done to make it ahead of Canterbury lads. I'm wondering why my club puts money into this franchise?

"Liam Gerathy" is, in fact, a Canterbury lad, who has been away at Ole because no comparable academy exists for local lads.

Well he's been in Wellington for the last 3 years at least, and he's a teenager.

He's a really nice player Murray. I'm sure he's even better after his time with Declan.

From The Press: Dragon's head off shore for strikers

Hope these two foreign strikers are good enough.

Nakamura only played NSW state 2nd Div.(NSW NPL2) in Australia for Blacktown Spartans (third to last team this season).

Played this year in the Cambodian league - not a great Asian league - but who knows?

The tall American striker (Guam international) has been playing only in the US fourth tier, the National Premier Soccer League, for Albion SC Pros: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albion_SC_Pros

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Premier_Soc...

Again, not a great level of football....

when i read the article, i was thinking here we go again - over the years there have been so many squad spots taken by crap foreigners who add nothing to the team let alone the league

CU have a really good core of players. imagine how much better they would be now if they spent more of the past years on developing more players like they have done with aaron spain?

CU is funded by the Canterbury Clubs. What do they want? A pathway for local players?

Yeah Burns was at Tasman last year. Has just signed somewhere in Scandanavia.

Panzer is a Nelson lad but played for CU in the past. Kicking round somewhere in the UK from memory.

Good read. He was a Truro so that's probably where I got the UK thing from. Good luck to him.

Dan Keat also playing in Sweden.

Keat and Lissette playing first and second div though, so not sure what motivation they would have to play NZNL. The others are trying to prove themselves in 4th/5th div. Would that level of football be on par or a step up to NZ first tier?
