Don't doubt it for a second.

Don't see many TW fans on here w**king about how they are blazing a trail for grassroots football in New Zealand though.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Was more in response to what Tegal said tbh. The part criticising the paying of foreign players.

[QUOTE=Feverish]
who you talking about?
Do you mean which players am I talking about?
I'm not sure what qualifies as foreign to be honest but...

Kamri
Tade
Abba
Fifi
Sutherland (arguably)

While none were imported for the purpose of playing for TW, they aren't exactly homegrown.

Maybe not apples with apples but people are quick to criticise Auckland for paying these players but seam to think TW (and possibly others) are playing by different rules.

so we dont pick Wellingtonians beacuse they werent born here? hmm
anywya the point was about AKLD's continual whining about supporting 'local' football

I'm not saying that at all. I think we're both talking about different things here. The feeling I got from the two posts after yours was that Auckland are hiding the fact they are paying players. It wasn't a response to your post.

I never said it was a problem exclusive to Auckland.

But as jag said,it's a bit rich ACFC fans coming on here spurting about the Phoenix taking money from NZF to develop players, when they're spending money that could be used to develop footballers,on paying foreigners to play for them in an amateur league.

If I thought that was the point you were getting at I would have agreed with you. I thought it was a dig at player payments at ACFC in which case wouldn't have been the first time people have criticised them for paying players on here and it gets a bit old particularly because everyone's doing it.

Good game by ACFC today. I'm looking forward to the Club World Cup!

Certainly an interesting discussion over the last few pages. I'm pretty new to supporting City considering I've backed the Nix for two seasons and live in Auckland. I thought it was a bit weird I've been to Wellington five times (and Adelaide) and never been down to the road to see the local team. I used to go to Knights and Kings games but that is an aside.

Anyway, I definitely enjoyed the last couple of games at Kiwitea I've been to. City play entertaining football and there is fantastic atmosphere. The chants go all game and are for the most part really clever, catchy tunes. But the occasional anti-Phoenix chant just reeks of sour grapes. Wellington has the A-League licence, Auckland doesn't. Get over it. Both teams do good things for New Zealand football, but in different ways. Both teams need support from the football community. And I don't see any problem supporting both teams, which I do. I'll continue to go down to Wellington to cheer on my Nix, but next season I'll be at Kiwitea every chance I get. But as much as the City fans make the home games brilliant - some of the chants are just a bit sad.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah there's a few! Something about supporting a Kiwi team and something about the Aussies in the Nix. Came out against TeeDubs, Waitakere and Amicale. They also sing their anti-Waitak chants (which are good, I might add) when they're not playing Waitak.

For a supporters group with some very clever chants they all too often miss the point.

You may cringe at some of their chants but at least they don't sing about air crash disasters, stadium crushes or wars that happened several generations ago.

Three for me, and two for them.

The only way to settle this is a big exhibition match. Nix vs ACFC. Yellow Fever vs. 248 Crew. We can hold it at Waikato Stadium, we could pack it out.

Exhibitionism? NZCopley ftw.  Oh.  Exhibition.  Shame.

Of course the irony that the leaders, chant writers, driving force, credible part, of the 248 Service Crew were the Kingz and Knights vocal leaders isn't lost on me you know.

Meanwhile, back at the park, there was a good game of football yesterday.

Official photos attached.

Did anyone use the streaming?  There was some talk of video streaming.
Though audio is probably what you got???

Must say, I would never have had access to the cup or lifted the cup in Europe or anywhere else.
Not sure how wise it was to drink from the cup after a couple hundred others had done it too!!!

Nice, pleasant, warm afternoon to round out a great season.

Fenedy (Masauvakalo) was fired up for the first half hour,
I can see why he got the Golden Boot.

And Norbert (Hauata) from Tahiti ran a good match without too much niggle,
2 yellow cards, but more for trying too hard than any intent.

See you all next season.

In fact, see you in Tokyo.

No, I caught the last ten minutes of the video stream - City looked good. If only we could do that for all ACFC/O-League games.

NZ Football should stop feeding money into the Phoenix and trying to save them. Its Auckland City FC who are again playing on the world stage and getting football in this country recognized..Auckland City are the most well known Nz Club team around the world.

Great game yesterday and some great individual performances. Is Manel Exposito the best import to ever step foot in in this country???? total quality.

Great crowd in. O-League is a great competition and has a good format.

Found a lovely photo of the ACFC knitting circle celebrating their win...

The flaws in the whole post are limitless, but let's try just this one.

Roger Rabbit wrote:

For the millionth time, show us where NZF are spending any money on the Phoenix other than paying part of Ricki's salary.  A salary they would be paying him directly anyway if he was full time coach of the All Whites.

Exactly how are they saving them?  Could it be in the bit where Frank van Hattum repeatedly says they can't justify spending a cent to save them?

You forget that the Phoenix are Australian, therefore Ifill has never actually been to New Zealand.

That's a reasonable call.  I kind of liked Young more, less prone to a dive.

Emblen probably worthy of a mention as well although he was better at the Knights than he was at Waitakere.

... okay, I can't let this slide. You know perfectly well that all the nasty, mean-spirited, backbiting, "hope your team ceases to exist" stuff comes from ACFC fans. Go tell jordybean that "rivalry" puts you to sleep.

I keep saying again and again that the thing that puts me off full-blooded support for ACFC is the arseholish attitude of their fanbase to the Nix. Don't pose like it's YF who are initiating the bad feeling.

To be fair to edward I his comments on here are usually pretty reasonable. But you're absolutely right - a small minority of ACFC fans make it very difficult to feel any real warmth towards the club. Despite that, I do genuinely wish ACFC all the best at the CWC. Great achievement.

I notice that El Jordy Beano (pronounced el-hor-dee-bee-no) hasn't been logged on here since the day he was doing a hamfisted job of discussing ACFC's relationship with Trillion Trust. Am wondering if someone at the club told him to stfu?

Or he could just be concentrating on his Spanish lessons.

Hola Jordy!

Anti-Nix? I've started going to City games since last year, afer I decided to stop supporting the Phoenix. But as far as I've seen the 248 crew only sing songs regarding Serepisos' money problems and that they support a team in the national league and not an Australian one. Pro-Nix group might not go down well in Auckland as firstly no-one will join you and you would be better off joining the 248 crew and helping them fine tune their current chants. Feel free Doloras to go onto the club website and go on the fans forum link -http://www.aucklandcityfc.com/links/
