Mornington. I know some people who have talked to people - a lot of chatter has been going down at turf on Wednesday nights.

Flamingmongrel my advice to you would be head down to Caverham or Tech - they are your best bet. You know what they say 'practice well - play well'. If you were to go anywhere else you probably wouldn't challenge yourself enough. Roslyn would be your next shot but you would probably find yourself with mates like Horsehead21......just jokes HH21 keep up the chat.

Stay away from tech....far too much  politics and show ponies...as proved last year no silverware to show for it. Roslyn will have a good side this year.. speculation of a few off season signings from nelson suburbs... I stand by the fact that off the field roslyn is a top club. Caversham are always strong and play a top brand of football, shame about their sh*tty arsenal strip brought in last season :S. They are the Best side currently in the south island would challenge easily at central league level.

Care to elaborate on this? You're obviously close to the matter if you know all about the politics and show ponies. Making the Chatham Cup final is a decent nudge if you ask me. When was the last time any other Dunedin based club did that?

Back on to Otago Utd I hear they will struggle a bit this weekend. They have several players either suspended, injured or prior commitments. From what I can ascertain the following players are unavailable.

1.        Andy Coburn Suspended (some have said it was a deliberate red at end of game so that he is able to be best man at young Hendersons wedding)

2.        Tom Jackson Suspended

3.        Robbie Deeley Suspended

4.        Colin Falvey Injured

5.        Mike Smith Injured

6.        Reece Henderson getting married I am afraid so girls.

With an already depleted team this will be one big load of s*** to push up hill.

The league should be a teams bread and butter... chatham cup is a bonus that depends on many factors. Eg: tech had a an easy run to 4th round... played all home games up to the final..

I agree the SPL should be priorty , but with a run like they had , you could argue with the way the names came out of the hat

I cant think of that ever happening to any other side on cup run ??

This debate about whick club to go to is poor to say the best..You are leaving it pretty late to find a good side at this time of year so I would try Caversham tonight at Tonga park then Dunedin Tech Tuesday and see how you go!As for Otago United this weekend they could be in big trouble with nearly half there 1st team away with coburn, deeley and I think even Horner at Hendersons wedding.Does anyone have odds on the Otago game for the weekend? As for the comment Caversham is the best side in the South Island I agree with Tech nipping at there heels and I tink one of these two sides could go one further and bring the Chathum cup back to Dunedin this year but I do say that every year but we will see!

Tech didnt deserve to win the league but didn't have it easy i the cup

The only reason I would go to Roslyn was if I was trying to get the Otago Player of the Year award - it's a guarantee (it may even be in the contract that if you are there for at least one season you will win it no matter where the team ends up on the table) - and as for this off the field environment you talk of Horsehead....you have to be joking, with all the anger management issues going on over there you will do well not to take a couple of shots to the face from your own team mates. Apparently the only pick up spot for that Roslyn van is Wakari Hospital up the hill so unless you live around there or enjoy playing with the mentally impaired FM stay on this side of the hill.

Culling Cafe....now there is a safe environment to have a couple of beers with good natured people.

culling park....sh*t cake ground... referred to as theatre of dreams following techs win over miramar haha, yeah good natured some of the biggest muppets over the past few years have played at tech but yeah good environment and good natured people im sure.
Anger management?? cant remember a single fight at the club last season kennedy.. as for only pik up waikari hospital thats a bit lame and entirely untrue.

Come on Mate we are talking about the likes of S Brand - I would be nervous every time his lips touch the neck of a glass bottle. May not have been any fights but this may have been as a result of everyone tip toeing around the place hoping they don't step on anyones  toes.

Who are these Muppet's you speak of - I am interested?

Funny u bag roslyn yet a good number of first team tech players last year are ex roslyn boys... richie smith, schoullar, flawsy. I'm not gonna name names about which muppets were or are at the club...every club has there muppets. I cant see it been all roses at tech to be honest with the likes of fridge in charge.

I would try tech or cavy first bigtime.. all this talk about roslyn being the best team off the park is rubbish... from the people i have spoken to, Roslyn are the most hated team in dunedin end of story!!

A bitch fight in Dunedin,

sh*t most of the players are interchangeable.. they have all shifted more than once..
Go to the club with the best coaches, they will get the best out of you and the team.

I am not sure that is completely true Dino - I must admit there have been many players going back and forth from Tech to Roslyn and vise versa but I put this down to title chasing. Caversham seems to be able to hold on to there players and they hang around for long stints - look at the likes of Aaron Blaker, Tim Cook and Rich Murray - maybe this is down to the success of the team or the coaches....?
Player of the year should have been either A Burgess, R Henderson or A Coburn - clear cut no issue so I don't understand where Brand came in to it.
I think Roslyn were a good club when they had the likes of Barry White, Parkie, Tony Martin and Andy Duncan involved - not only that they had some impressive players and from memory that season went to the wire. Unfortunately in-house politics have destroyed that and when TM and AD were forced out for impeding T Boylans development as Head Coach the club really did go a way in which left many players disillusioned and hence your exodus back to Tech. That and Roslyn's close allegiance with Soccer Otago has really made a mockery of the league down here with special privileges like hosting the annual awards night and the such making other clubs very disappointed.

I agree with Kennedy..Without naming names because everyone no's who they are player's have gone where they think they have the best chance of winning medals 08 tech 07 Roslyn 06 Mosgiel i could be wrong about this but there dosen't seem to be alot of loyalty to there respected clubs they are playing for at the time but then i think you need to look at a club like Caversham with Steve Fleming being at the helm for a number of year's and player's such as Horner,Murray,Cook,Blaker,Henderson,Deeley,Wild, Fleming,Okane all have been there for no less than 4year's being in the same enviroment and knowing how there fellow team mate's play and you can tell this team has played together for a number of games. You are always going to have new player's coming and player's leaving but if you can keep a core of your team for 2-3 year's you are always going to have a better chance of a team just dragged together over the summer..Saying that i think tech with Scoullar,Burgess,Coburn,Mr Soccer,Mckenzie if they can keep these guys together at the club with some younger tallent coming tho like prattley n the young guy up front they will have a strong side for year's to come.

And Otago Player Of the Year award well maybe someone should go steal it off Sean Brand and let the 3 names above have turn's taking it home although what brando has fdonwe with it you may struggle getting them to take it!

Feedback you have been very quiet..............................................

Disagree...... tech have the allegiance with soccer otago.. last season was setup entirely for tech to win the league... and they finished third...woeful really. Tech had Wilson James in their back pocket... they played where they liked and when they liked against who they liked (eg: tech got a bye first round of the season.. as they pissed and moaned bout not having their national league players (all chatham cup games at home...coincidence?).  PLayer of the season I reckon Henderson fair call, quality in everygame I saw him play and everygame I played against him... burgess went missing in the big games (apart from the chatham cup semi of course) but did score a truckload of goals so fair suggestion.

I think you mean mosgiel 05 (boylan and eisenhut), mosgiel 06 were woeful. And roslyn 06 ( Boylan and eisenhut)Roslyn 07???? who went to roslyn in 07 to win medals?? its was a young team who finished third...pritty unfounded comment.
