NatPevin, you will be going to watch in Palmy North when the boys play there?

What a result from Otago. Amazing result considering the Wellington team they had out there. Fleming should come play for Otago but we cant really pay him like Wellington most likely is.

Good start by Ritchie and Andy.

For sure mate..so I depend on you locals to get to the home games and post good reports! I will go to all the North Island away games and try to get down to at least one home game at the amazing FB Stadium! But I'm not alone with the away support up North...at the Welly game we had some bloke who was yelling Otaaaaaaaago! pretty much all game it was bloody funny and I think it gave the boys a lift..I'm the more silent type....NatPevin2011-10-24 17:55:44

And there's something about playing for the blue and gold. I saw Fleming when I lived down there and he was just a teenager. But he had style and vision. I think he would lift a level or two in the Otago shirt compared with the Phoenix ( O I mean Welly) Yellow and Black stripes.

Roslyn FC, I would say all the lads played well on sunday and with you saying " What did you expect, he plays for Roslyn" shows that your very one eyed, thats not what we need down here.
Lets put our club patch's away for the summer and all get in behind the lads.

Yes looking forward to watching the ROSLYN'S boys performing well again, after all they provide the back bone of the team

Do worry about the pitch suiting Waitak and feel the boys will be on the back foot all day.Does anything under 5 goals mean a good result for us!!!!!!!!!!!!

Losing 4 nil would be a disgrace. There are a few injuries but still, losing 4 goals to anyone isn't good

ASB site says a comprehensive 6-0 result - we know Waitakere are a class unit, but how did we do?

Score is probably a fair reflection of the gulf in class between the two sides. Otago worked hard but were outclassed throughout the field. In the first half they absolutely tore Otago's left side apart. Lockheart in particular was constantly caught out of position by Krishna and Pearce. When Waitakere brought on Sean Lovemore and Gagame Femi, their pace was just too much for the Otago backline.

No real standouts for Otago however i thought Connor, Joy, Overton and Day all had some strong moments. Prattley was obviously much missed by Otago and hopefully Hancock can play next week because he showed some flashes before his injury.

Otago backline had some real problems. Liam Lockheart was under the pump all game, Waitakere were exposing him almost every time they attacked out on their right hand side. Fitzpatrick had moments that were costly and showed inexperience. I thought Joy and Connor were pretty solid back there but the whole backline needs to be firing on all cylinders to be effective.

Midfield and strikers had passes and plays that looked classy but were shut down by a strong Waitakere defence. Unfortunate about Ant Hancock was looking dangerous at times before he came off. Overton, Day and Cunningham could be dangerous as the season goes on.

Honestly they didnt deserve to concide 6, i thought they defended very well first 30 odd minutes. A leanring curve for this young side but things can only get better and improve from this. Honestly that Waitakere outfit were pretty impressive.

what formation did waitak use? only three defenders in the starting 11 - adams, myers and rowley, so i was wonderign if they are using 3 at the back this season?

Agreed not a good start dropping 2 points in Woefullwood followed by this, but I have confidence in Richie and the team turning it aroung. A lot of the more inexperienced lads will have learnt a lot from yesterday.

I am quite certain Waitakere played four across the back. Was good to see Seamus Ryder attacking the defenders and taking them on, thats what OU needs, Rodeka attacked at times aswell. Even though the score was one sided, I believe the coaching staff at OU have good a good group of young boys who can provide upsets and are not just in the competition to make up numbers.

Keep these boys together for afew years and they could do damage.

Lay off, I'm sure he would of kept the score down a little but would have stoll lost as they were a good team to watch.
Glade to see young Tommy as captain another great ROSLYN player
