Yeah. After a pretty disappointing effort for most of the match against an average Nix reserves, they really need to bully this very average Hamilton team this weekend. A solid win on the road would prove a bit of a turning point i reckon. Facebook page said this game's on sky tv too which is cool.

There is no chance you're gonna get guys of that level playing at clubs like Northern or Braes, what is the benefit for them of doing so?

Can I just say what a job O Reilly has done at Southern ! Excellent in my view 

The pressure Southern were putting on Wanderers in the first half especially, making them play backwards, forcing them in to mistakes that our guys capitalised on, was great to watch.

Heard Roslyn were throwing a bit of cash around to sign the Southern Utd Irishman. If the case Donkers could be on to something here.

Be nice to see them play. Surely 18 games a year isn't too hard for them?

Is it true the SPL is only one round before sorting out who the top 3 are for the Southern League?  What do the rest do once that is done?

Southern Women. Uni have picked up a couple of quality (Canterbury Pride) players in Coastal Spirit’s Britneylee Nicholson and Cashmere Technical’s Beth Elliott. 

Otago Uni also picked up Lena De Ronde (Upper Hutt City) & Chelsea Empson (Wellington United) should be a decent team this season

Maybe a cup run for the students in the Kate Shepherd?

Unsure if Beth played any minutes for the Pride this season rather she was playing cricket which she has a promising career.

How'd they manage to pull all this off? they apparently have some other quality signings from the North Island?

Lena de Ronde's older sister plays for the Otago Uni club so that probably helped

the two that I know from last year played for Dunedin Tech - the scholarships don't tie you to the Uni club

They must have promoted themselves a bit better this year then to get that influx. 

You don't join the Varsity club to play football, it's a pretty unorganised setup as you'd expect.

That has definitely been the case historically but they're one of the most onto it clubs around now, pretty switched on by the looks of it with a comprehensive strategy in place and able to attract serious & talented players across all formats. Uni has always been a bit of a sleeping giant waiting for some proper organisation.

Looking pretty decent this season, 4 additional talented players outside of the region will really boost future signing and become very competitive in the future at least two have represented nz at secondary school and national league level, definately a club to watch!, good to see exceptional players opting to not go to Tech, which should create a competitive league, rumour is more players are looking to follow suit in the future! Good on them I say!

What is behind Southern’s online survey regarding the franchise? Unsustainable financially?

Not sure if putting together a prospectus and improving social media presence mitigates the high turnover and inherent lack of focus at OUAFC. They still pick their top two squads on reputation / before trials. They have the biggest pool of players yet still struggle to fill all teams every week. 

As Brookside says, if you come to Dunedin and want to play serious football, then you don't go there. 

It also stated in the survey Football South don't really have the cash reserves to keep it going as is. I hope they can find more corporate sponsors to help fund all the teams going forward. The 250 club was a great idea and I'll contribute again if the teams are there next season.

With the local season starting on Saturday will any of the Southern United squad be playing?

Would have been nice to see the Irish boys play. Asking local players to dip into their pockets to support SU and Football South is a bit cheeky when their staff and players choose to not play locally.

Tech a close win over Roslyn. Will be a good game.

Southland could catch Cavvy at the right moment and take a win but probably a draw.

Queenstown - Green Island..  could be a lot of goals... maybe a draw

Mosgiel should be too strong for Northern.
