Not a bad team of the week, only was able to catch the G.I game the week before, and the Mosgiel Roslyn game.

Looking forward to this weekends games, I have a big feeling there will be some upsets. I definitely think Roslyn will hand it to Tech, just have a feeling about that game. I heard that Braes have picked up a tidy player in Big Joes mate? Anyone back me up there?!!

The same "shit chat" that every other team has offered up for too long on this forum and now that someone else is offering it up it's no good. HYPOCRITE.

Was talking to a tech player today, who said Patrick (joes mate) was the best player on the field for braes.

Traveling footballer like joe I think, hopefully without the brain explosions

Does anyone know why Joel Stevens wasnt selected in the first game and is he selected this week?

Hadn't been to training until after the game...

Coach said that he hasn't been training with the team, guess being with the U20's is not in the same league as GI

Permalink Permalink

Or just because all the other boys had been training hard, they were playing at the stadium which everyone wanted to do, and it would be unfair to those who had trained if Joel just popped in.

Maybe if it had been against a better side he would have popped straight in, but it was against an average Northern unit. Not having Joel for that game didn't change anything. Good move from Craig imo.

Anon if thats true it's completely crazy, a player shouldn't be punished for playing for his country and clearly he would of been training even harder then any GI player and at a much higher standard, so if what you say is true then he should of been straight in the starting line up. Whether you were playing Northern or Cavy shouldn't have mattered.

I agree, I would have started Joel.

Also look forward to seeing big Joh's mate. If he is similar to Joh we could see a record year for Grants Braes referee fines

Picks this week:

Cavvy 6 - 0 Northern (Hancock 3)

Tech 1 - 2 Roslyn

Old Boys 1 - 0 Grants Braes

Queenstown 1 - 1 Green Island

Mosgiel 2 - 2 University

Bets this week:

- Big Joe to see red @ $2.75 looks excellent coin

- Multi those 2 draws for about a $100 return for your cheeky $10

- Are there odds up on a Hancock Hatty?

Look mate, I ain't the coach, but it was against Northern, all the boys had been training hard and wanted a go at the stadium. He got back the day before the game, the coach knew nothing about him. Regardless of his achievements, I think it was a good move to make as a new coach at a new club, Joel is back playing now and will be sure to net a few this weekend, it was 2 weeks ago now, move on.

Hancock hatrick @ $6.00.

We've had alot of interest in Seamus Ryder for SPL Player of the Year and have shortened him to $2.20.

Fair enough of Craig not to pick him. We had all trained hard all summer and deserved a spot at the stadium. Craig had never seen him play and did not want to put him out there just because everybody else said he should.

Bit rough on Varsity, they win 5-2 and cant get a look-in

4 GI players in there, but from watching that game I thought only Taylor and perhaps Nathan Gunn rated a mention

Just my 2 cents of course - Big game for the Horsehead tomorrow, boys will be tucked up in the stables tonight resting their legs

So what would of happened if say Messi signed for GI but had not trained with the team would he had not been selected?? IMO  you always play your best 11 and just goes to show that playing for your country means nothing to some people. Think this POM should go back to Pommie land

I'll give you $10.00 on both Coldicott & Bekkers and Fleming can be backed at $30.00.

I can also add Scott Gannon to the growing list at $6.00, Would be shorter but internet quality in the Islands is questionable.

$10 for Bekkers will get a few nibbles I'd imagine
