Serious Question:

Are Cavvy playing any pre season games this week or in the weekend, if so where and when..?

Also need to have a look at Grants Braes if at all possible before the start of the season..

Thanks

why would you "need" to see Grants Braes?

Because seeing is believing.  Look at them and be amazed.

I think so to.
From what I know, none of the squad have won an SPL before. But I cannot see a team that can rival them for quality all over the park, and depth aswell. They will have reps sitting on the bench!

The bottom is a bit unpredictable, As Braes/Old Boys have had a big changeover in players, and Queenstown/Uni are often changed each season

Have you not heard? Tech won't be doing much this season mate, lost their two best players.

Cavvy to win it??

1. Green Island - Too tough to stop, could go unbeaten

2. Cavvy - always on the mark, will run G.I close.

3. Roslyn - Too much chat about this being their year. perrenial underachievers.

4.Tech - will win games but won't know what to do in tough games with no Burgy

5. Northern - Looking much improved and a proper coach this year...

6. University - Could prove tough on their day but no consistancy

7. Mosgiel - Overated for years, finally heading in the wrong direction.

8. Queenstown - No composure = no quality

9. Old Boys' - Unknown but crap

10. Braes - 18 games, 0 wins, 1 draw, 17 losses

Golden Boot: James Govan

Young Player: Lewis Jackson

Player of the Year: Dan Rutter

Biggest win: Cavvy 12-1 v Queenstown

Biggest upset: Old Boys' 3-0 v Mosgiel

Chatham Cup Best: Roslyn (Quater-Final).

Onion boy, Fiona has got you excited, seems your dick is rulling your head..

I dont think GI has a realistic chance of a top 3 finish,

No Joel, Scott the Aussie and there is a rumour that Cody hasnt turned up to training. Havent heard of any improvements in the backline or midfield...

Predictions for this weekend 3-1 against a poor Northern..

Wooden Spoon: Braes @ $1.55, Old Boys @ 2.10, Northern @ $4.00, Mosgiel @ $20.00

Golden Boot: Govan @ 3.50, Tommy-up-top @ $10.00, McCormick @ $12.00, Evan Jones @ $15.00

First Managerial Casualty: Laidler @ $3.00, Fridge @ $6.00

A few nice options for Saturdays game:

Total minutes played for Jesse Wright: Under 56.5 @ 1.87, Over 56.5 @ 1.87

To win both halves: Green Island @ 2.20, Northern @ 12.00

First Goalscorer: McCormick @ 2.50, Kirkwood @ 3.50, Rutter @ 5.00, Milne @ 6.50, Wright @ 12.00

A weekly goalscoring teaser for round 1: McCormick, Ryder & Foster all to score @ 8.50

This weekend I defs think G.I will dominate, if they have Joel and Taylor up top it will be hard to stop.

Regarding them winning the league, hard to tell. I think Roslyn might go into the same boat as..

LA Lakers, Highlanders, Roslyn.

Big names on paper, but will choke.

Chatham Cup Best: Roslyn (Quater-Final).

Thought GI would be the flag bearer for Otago, with all this chat

Permalink Permalink

They are the first game of the SPL year though Roost, $10 that the G.I chat gets crowded by all the other team chat once it starts up next weekend.

If GI drop points against Northern i'll eat my hat, reveal my identity and quit the forums. But we all know that won't happen. GI for the title and thats without Gannon and Stevens.

2000-2002, they were the Grants Braes of the league

2000 8th out of 10

2001 8th out of 10

2002 last out of 9, but 4th round of the Chatham Cup (only Cavvy went further fromthe SPL)

A low point thats for sure, but still miles better than Braes (who weren't even in the Prenier League then)

Lucky there was no relegation in 02, not sure how you can say "miles better" the last four years Braes have only come last once?

They have only ever had 2 teams below them once since they reformed

In the cup they have never came close to the fourth round, in fact they have only beaten 1 SPL team.

So Roslyn at their lowest ebb achieved more in 3 years than Braes have since they reformed.

Pretty much the Braes of SPL in the early 2000's apart from one lucky cup run with the worst Roslyn team ever!

Hopefully gi put on a good show this afternoon! Cant wait to see the t-mac in action against not the greatest back line in northern. Never know though 125 years might lift them to another level.
