Guess its gonna be another quiet week on the fever with everyone's favourite (media embargoed) team suffering another loss. Still top of the league though i suppose. Roslyn looking good although lucky to get win, draw would have been a more fair result I think but awesome watching local football in the stadium. Tech seem to have turned the corner with Myers and Prattley back they look a lot stronger.
Think big Al has made the difference to tech, what is it 7 in 2 games!!!!

Da Costa is back too
what a foul mouth the GI coach has, not a good example to kids on the sideline

I have it on good authority, da Costa's shift in the middle of the park was a big contribution to the 3 pts yesterday.
Its a bloody tight league, all ff the top 5 will fancy their chances. I'm not a fan of relegation, but that could go down to the wire as well.

Not a fan of relegation but I bet your happy with promotion at the moment "Yeovil" lol. Braes will definite be gone and no one will care about them but if the other spot isn't Queenstown then it's gonna be interesting. Surely Mosgiel will come good cos it doesn't say much for the standard of coaching out on the plains at the moment. It certainly adds a bit more interest to every game at least
Good posts recently - a bit less of the Gi BS for one. Good job Sam and the boys on that massive win. And give credit to the Uni boys - their win over GI deserves credit. And let's not knock the losers so much I reckon - but give kudos to the winners. Now can we have conversation about Doble? Is he the real deal? I'm told his sessions are OK - almost as good as SF's. But is he the man to take on Otago? The foul mouth thing doesn't worry me so much Knowledge. So the kids learn some new words in a funny accent - so what? I'm more interested in if this guy can teach the kids some football.
another tasty win for the train, looking at a another big win for our 125th
still a lot of games to be played but i reckon either Mosgiel or Northern will go down

I shed a tear or two watching Yeovil go up, we've come a long way.
Its hard to see Braes staying up but they are still capable of the odd upset and dropping points to them could be fatal in either the title or play-off race.
I agree Mosgiel have to come good, but as I say they need a win, when things are going wrong it can be bloody tought to turn it around. I wouldn't blame the coaching, its collective effort you win, lose, draw and get relegated as a team. Perhaps some of the lads are trying to hard? its an easy trap to fall into.
The problem Mosgiel have is that if they don't turn it around Northern, QT and Old Boys will pick up points as they are all capable of getting a result against most sides if they have a good day.
Great to see there is another Yeovil fanout there!
I was loving promotion, after years of trying just to get into the football league and now were we're in the Championship, Gary Johnson is legend!!!!!
Old Boys looked pretty decent when I watched them and they didn't have Gardnier, and they are already 5 points ahead of Mosgiel. I think it looks like a 3 horse race to see who will face the drop with Braes, I still think Mosgiel are too good to go down.

Can't see Doble being Otago United coach , heard on good authority that Stu Kelly has the job as player coach , with horner to back him up on the side line , Never be a fan of player / coach but with a guy like horner on the side it may well work.
Doble should be coach, look what hes done with us this season. Stu Kelly who? As for the weekend, fair play to Uni they deserved it but we are still in contention. Great to see Mosgiel sinking further and further, and if Facebook and Snapchat are anything to go by it seems that Regan has had a falling out and is leaving mid-season. apparentely to Roslyn. Fletchers next year for the scum.
GI til I die!!!!!!!!!
Surrey Street, Dunedin
Early days on the coach front, Mr Burnley has inherited a team which was on the up. Still have Cavvy to go.

Love a good rumour
Mr Doble would be a great coach for Southern United (still, don't like the name) and Timmy on the sidelines? Would rather have somebody with more experience and that's nothing against Timmy

[/quote]would be a huge mistake signing up Stu Kelly, how about our Colin, best coach in the league IMO
Kelly may well have an good CV and could turn out to be a good selection but if its being based on a CV then i fail to see how Doble can miss out. I can't imagine there being too many guys interested in the United job that share his qualifications and experience. After all he is a fulltime coach as apposed to a player turned coach.

I heard Kelly had a great CV
Think Kelly wants $15k to coach, where would we get that sort of money from????
That money could be better spent by
1:- getting a better training ground with showers and staying there for the whole season, & not be shunted form pilar to post
2:- more professional looking walk out kit, eg Dress pants/shoes, polo, sweat shirt, and track top
3:- better per season games instead of playing the youth team and sending a 'B' team to play Canty 'B'
4:- is he going to stick round for the winter???
To me Mr Doble seems the best qualified coach in town, Southern United board can't just go for somebody who has either played for us or has a great C.V We just can't afford to keep shooting ourselves in the foot by getting wrong coaches.
Feel better now Thanks

Nailed it! the same sort of thing has happened in Dunedin in the past and football has lost out. John Herdman, Johan Koustall and Paul Pottrick to name a few guys who were qualified but seemingly undervalued and left as a result.
Really impressed with the way GI play and credit must go to the coach for that, however how much does he want for coaching Otago if he gets it? looking forward to the next few games tech, cavvy and Rosyln all looking very dangerous at the minute

Kelly doesn't have a record of sticking around anywhere. ever.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
I would personally love to see Craig as head coach of OU/SU.
For G.I in the past, they haven't been a team to keep ball possession and play the ball around as well as this year, against the likes of tech and cavvy they kept little possession of the ball and were always on the back foot. This year they are actually playing the ball around (WELL) and the style of play has completely changed.
I think the same can be said with OU in the past (since I have seen it anyway), against the likes of Waitak, Auckland etc, the mindset has been to defend, which is a must against the big teams, BUT 5-4-1/5-3-2 is not going to win you football matches.
With Doble in there, he will be looking to be playing the ball around, push players up, and focusing on pressurizing and actually playing a good brand of football. Which he has done out at Sunnyvale. Some of you might disagree with this , but seems pretty spot on imo.

im seeing all this credit going towards doble, ofcourse he does deserve rewards with what hes doing. But alot of credit thats going un noticed was that of Malc fleming who has brought alot of talent to the club and the team wouldnt be up the top of the table without the hard work he put in getting players to gi over the last few years. he also got the team well prepared for this year with preseason dating back to october.
