With TW management scraping down the back of their couches to make the thing go another year they're going to need all of us to support them and show we still want a team in the NZFC by:

1. Going to the games BUYING A BEER and getting rowdy.
2. BUYING a season ticket.
3. BUYING some merch.

Remember this is actually more YOUR club than anyone's.  It was started by chip ins from pretty much every local club (although now not so much I know) so as to represent the Wellington football community.

And it does a good job.

So let's get behind them this season aye.  It's only 7 home games plus playoffs...!

Smithy.

Away to Otago first up for TW... Wonder if they would prefer that to a home game against Waitakere. I guess so.. Team Wellington havent announced a squad but from the signings I have heard they will be much better than last season with Jeremy Brockie, Sam Jenkins, Bryan Little, Andy Barron and Ross Mckenzie (unconfirmed but read somewhere else on the forum). Hope to see them challenge the big 2 again and perhaps go one further this season!

Bryan will be decent for TW for sure - wonder how his American Sojorn panned out? Also how many youngsters coming through from youth league this year?

Only two home games this year

I doubt I'll be making any games this season after being to nearly every home game and many away games over the last 3 seasons.
3pm on a Sunday afternoon counts out people playing summer sport  (and people working in retail)

unfortunately for TW, Shane "The Shanesaw" Medland is still injured and therefore is unable to cut up opposition strikers.

Its not whinging just stating a fact.

Try going back and reading TW's managements thoughts before previous seasons as to what time games should be played to maximise the crowd. Its not 3pm on a Sunday afternoon.

I guess it doesnt matter to you as you wont be there anyway, just couldnt resist taking a shot at someone voicing an opinion, next stop North Korea for you.

Team Wellington are a joke. Less than a week out from the start of the comp and they still list last years squad on their website.

They've broken all the rules for the ground requirements since they were accepted into the competiton as NZ Football is to week and spineless to kick them out. Now they treat the fans with contempt (check out the draw for their next game on their website, top left) with their sh*t attitude. You'd think that with them being so hard up for cash they would be looking after their fans. I havent even heard anything about season tickets yet.

I feel sorry for the coach and players, if in fact they have any (have the annouced a team yet?).

Probably because they have been scrambling around and putting effort in to getting enough money to run the side.  I'm assured it ill be updated in the next few days.

The full NZFC site is barely any better.

Poor excuse in my eyes Hard News.
The franchise is owned by the clubs is it not. Surely they could have got someone for one of the clubs to help out, did they ask? Dosent John (FromTBD, great guy by the way) help them with these sorts of things. To my eyes its just slackness.

i agree nightz

i know that they have been busy in the past few weeks trying to resurrect the situation, but they are scrambling to compensate for the fact that next to no work was done during the off season

not keeping their potential fan base informed is also very poor

that is a positive, stu has assembled by the sounds of it a decent side. missing a few from last year, but adequately replaced - raf and wilson aside.

hey, but we wouldn't know this; we rely on rumor and inside knowledge, to actually have a team named via press release is obviously asking too much

Raf and Wilson more than adequately replaced by Barron.

It's Douglas that (arguably) hasn't been adequately replaced.  Great to see Dicey getting the chance to step up though.

yeah forgot about douglas and also perhaps a mention for cheriton (unless he has returned?)

ideally we'd still have raf, a fit wilson and barron in the side

Wilson for sure.  Raf we definitely can't afford.

Rumour running around that he was asked to play, but in defence.  Sauces tell me that is a massive yarn and he was in fact simply not required.  Thus the move to YHM.

I wonder if Barron will stay the whole season this time.

Depends on whether or not he is allowed to drink.

I hear K-Rocks drinking could rival Liam Mulrooney's.

On behalf of TW thanks for your input Nightz.
1. Yes we have been poor in getting the website upgraded. In prioritising our spending some things have first call on available funding and the website is down the list. TBD is greaat but they are a business that need to charge for services. However valid point and we will try to get it done soon.
2. Playing squad is being published now and was only finalised last week so your not to far behind the news
3. Not sure what your problem with Newtown Park as an NZFC venue is? But games will be played at venues a lot worse. If it doesn't meet regulations then the spec is to high!

But the good news is ... An AGM is to be held in a couple of weeks and board positions will be up for grabs (or you could just volunteer to help out!!!) so you can either sit on the sideline and through stones or actually help out. You might like to sponsor a player at $500?

Let us know!
