On behalf of TW thanks for your input Nightz.
1. Yes we have been poor in getting the website upgraded. In prioritising our spending some things have first call on available funding and the website is down the list. TBD is greaat but they are a business that need to charge for services. However valid point and we will try to get it done soon.
2. Playing squad is being published now and was only finalised last week so your not to far behind the news
3. Not sure what your problem with Newtown Park as an NZFC venue is? But games will be played at venues a lot worse. If it doesn't meet regulations then the spec is to high!

But the good news is ... An AGM is to be held in a couple of weeks and board positions will be up for grabs (or you could just volunteer to help out!!!) so you can either sit on the sideline and through stones or actually help out. You might like to sponsor a player at $500?

Let us know!

Good post Socrates

Call the knockers out. Manawatu had heaps in the other thread knocking the board, coach, subs, ball boy, orange peeler and just about anything else associated with the team but don't want to devote their time/opinon/expertise to making the situation better and instead moan about it.

I would say that people seem to have alot of opinions from the outside saying that so and so is useless at this and that but wont front up.

If you want to make your franchise better and don't like the current administration, then put up or shut up. The majority devote their free time and its the free time from the volunteers that help the franchises get through on what little they have. I certainly would not like to be moaned at if I was a volunteer trying to put my bit in to make it better.

Every little bit helps and while I respect we all have jobs/families/priorities, remember that those that volunteer do as well and do so because 1: you wont and 2: to make sure you have an NZFC franchise to watch

Socrates, don't listen to nightz, he is always winging.  When it's a sunny day he'll moan there are no clouds

So what has happened to Cheriton?  And has woody packed it in for good or is he off overseas?

Why would I bring my cheque book. They've had 5 months since the last season ended to put funding in place. If they have to go begging for it after the season has began maybe its someone elses turn to enter a team.
I'll be out of town working when the meeting is on and as I said previously they need people who actually have the time to put into it. Ive worked on plently of sports committees (and BOT)  in my time and I know if you dont have the time you shouldnt be putting your hand up.
I would assume (wrongly I guess) that they would have put out the call to clubs for people who do have the time and skills required to put their names forward.

Two of the requirements of entering the league were:
1. You have first call on the ground. TW dont and hence have had to change games times in the past because of athletics.
2. Must have floodlights.
I do fell for teams like Waikato that have aheared to these rules at great expense in the past.

You guys are right but..........
I put my hand up - I've been a Manawatu/NZF knocker in recent months. Believe it or not (and before you reply I don't care what you believe) I am not usually so negative however the level of incompetence, disorganisation and general farce exhibited at so many levels in the NZFC this season is stunning.
I decided long ago that the best way for me to support YoungHeart was to go to as many games as possible. For that I expect:
1) a draw a reasonable time before the season starts so that I can plan ahead. Not two days before the competition is about to begin with no real confirmation that it is the correct one!
2) an NZFC website that is updated.
3) a club website that is updated. If it wasn't for the great coverage from the Manawatu Standard there wouldn't be much news at all.

I don't think that any of these things are unreasonable. Remember that there are paid positions within the franchise and NZF that could be ensuring that news/information gets out there.

I spend a great deal of my time volunteering for various organisations in my local community and I am more than aware of the commitment required. During that time I have had to be responsible for my actions and accept criticism when it was due so don't give me that "put up or shut up" cr*p.
I am a passionate football fan. If I am frustrated at the general lack of basic information then anyone with a passing interest in the game has given up and gone to the beach long ago.

Regarding the coach, the opinions expressed were nothing different to posts made in these forums re Ricki and the Phoenix. My own comments were made in the context of my experiences with both the previous coach and new coach. Surely that's what debate is all about.
I have not seen or made any comments relating to the subs, ball boy or orange peeler.

Team Wellington

Well the NZFC is back, and so is Team Welly, in a 14 round league that kicks off this weekend.

Team Wellington v HappyTeds Waitakere United

Newtown Park (Wellington)

November 9, 2008

Kickoff: 3pm

T-Dub has assembled a strong side under head coach Stu Jacobs. Oly-Whites Jeremy Brockie and Sam Jenkins have moved from Hawkes Bay to join their Olympic coach, and Brian Little returns to his old stomping ground after stints with Auckland and Portland Timbers.

Yellow Fever is getting behind our future Phoenix stars by sponsoring  T-Dub this season.

The Fever is proud sponsors of four players that you will have to keep your eye on this season.

Jeremy Brockie This guys star is on the up. A great Oly-Whites campaign including a cracking goal at the Olympics has shown us why he was the original A-League child prodigy.

Brian Little: The return of the Scotsman with a left foot that could open a can of beans . A one man excitement machine

Andy Barron: Always plays with passion. Likes to bark at refs and pull the trigger from distance. Look out for some long range stunners.

Michael Eager: Mr Dependable.  It seems this nineteen year old is pushing thirty with the number of years he has been on the scene. Likes to get vocal in the Fever Zone too bless him!

Come along and support the lads this season!!

Tell you what Nightz...

1. Lets start a fund to buy Westpac Stadium and that will give us first rights and lights? (actually I think NZF realise that these Franchise Agreement Regulations are not essential and practical compensations are in place, so lets keep it real!)
2. Yes absolutely clubs are asked to nominate board members at every AGM and the board is mostly club people
3. Funding? Well let's leave that alone but try and catch a news article or buy a financial times for an update!

MORE importantly football starts on Sunday...Try and make it...let's talk football rather than admin aye! The players are getting on with it!

I'm now looking forward to sitting on the bank in the sun, having a couple of beers and watching some decent games of footie. Bring it on!

Sorry I dont like mediocrity and I dont see anything wrong with complaining about it. This is after all our countries national league and should be something we can take pride in.

Those of you that think its ok are doing a great diservice to our sport and ensuring it keeps its current ranking in the minds of the general public.

I don't believe they think it is okay - they just can't see any point to whinging about it. I can and do (whinge that is) but I can't see any point to going on and on and on about it. If it really upsets you so much then don't go along and support it. Enjoy yourself on the beach or something. It sounds like you won't be missed. Personally I'm looking forward to it getting started at last even though its not as ideal as I would like.
