Ross ?  Want to comment ?

Truth is TW have large numbers of attacking options, and talk is Colonel will be back at some point as well.

3-0 loss to What's-A-Young-Heart-Anywaaaaay? up in Palmy this afternoon. Team Wellington were reduced to 10 men after about five minutes when someone lobbed the ball at one of the Young Hearters in retaliation for something. This sparked a game-long card-fest with the ref dishing out at least a dozen or so of the f**kers before the 90 minutes were up. He had a Fonzie haircut too, which didn't endear him to much.

Manawatu lead 2-0 at half-time, and despite a decent enough comeback from Wellington in the second 45, they couldn't capitalise on the handful of opportunities they had, and conceded another goal with about 15 minutes left.

The early red certainly cast a pall over proceedings, but you can't deny the fact that Manawatu played well, particularly in the first half. Fell asleep a bit in the second, but by then Ref Fonzie had taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

Good crowd, round about 300 or so, if I had to guess. Had to laugh at the drongos wearing Young Heart Manawatu season passes, given that all Young Heart home games are free.

I guess your definition is slightly different to mine. Stupidity by Gulley and got what it deserved. Stu Jacobs will be disappointed at the undisiplined display from his side in that first 30 minutes.
TW were without Brockie but didn't really show much at all on attack apart from a stunning shot against the post in the first half. On that display it's going to be a long season for you guys.

It's a long way back to Wellington
It's a long way to go
It's a long way back to Wellington
When you've lost two in a row
It's a long way back to Wellington
Back to the Phoenix lair
It's a long, long way back to Wellington

The first welcome screen has the next home game on it, but you are right the rest seems a little buggy.

It doesnt have the date of the next home match.

Also the league table is out of date.

The website does have the name of the team right though.

Any Welly supporters coming up to the Island? If so,go to chemist and buy some sunscreen.( You will probably have to wait till you clear Wellington as most chemists  there don't have any call for said product.) Accy Stan2008-11-21 17:17:48

Smithy and a team of footy juniors will be there.

I would normally, but it's a Phoenix night.

Cue Smith telling us how much he's all about supporting NZ football, not Asian football.

Would love to make it, I especially marked Park Island as the first choice away game this year. But being Australian, the A-League is my "local" game, so the Phoenix come first.

From what I saw, I think Auckland really lacked the strike power. The young Milos has the technical skill but lacks patience, runs the wrong lines and it shows at this level. In 2 years, he will be outstanding, but not right now. Put alongside Matt Williams who is more a workman midfielder, there was nothing really to threaten the back 4 for Wellington. Nelson Sale is suffering from lack of confidence and he too took many a wrong option.

By the same token, Ross McKenzie was everywhere for Wellington and I think that the passion he played with was the difference. The two keepers really didn't have much to do and it was a case of whomever took the very little chances that were offered, were going to take the points. If you put Corrales against Nikolic then you would say based on ability, Luis would put away more chances than Milos.

It would dangerous to write Team Wellington off once they have a full squad.
