If any passer bys would like to drop a line in the Dave Farrington thread in the above post from Feverish please do so. The family are reading these and will appreciate the kind words. A-Team2008-12-17 16:38:04

This weekend at Ngarawahia, Sam Jenkins wil not only be playing a must win game for TeeDubs, but wil also be feeling the weight of a potential Professional contract in the A league.  From what I can gather a coach of an A league club (which ive been told cant be named at this point) watched Jenkins play against the Olyroos prior to the Olympics and really liked what he saw.  Now late in the season he has set two of his scouts over to watch Jenkins and asses his abilities.  The contract (if offered) would begin next season and would mean Jenkins would be the second Olywhite to secure a contract in the A league after Jeremy Brockie.

I also wonder if any teams in the A League saw Peverlys performances because he must also be one that could be in line for a deal...?

Not only is this an opportunity for Jenkins but also an opportunity for other players in the game to shine.  Names that come to mind straight away are Holloway and Strom from Waikato and even someone like Luis Corrales from Wellington.

the lad is certainly the most gobby-mouthed keeper i have come across since the days of Don Finlayson. Kept up an endless stream of chatter, advice and commentary to his whole team.

But it's Waikato's American keeper the Phoenix should be looking at, tho says he is chasing a contract back in the US at the end of summer. it's no accident waikato have won every match since he has arrived.

It was good to catch up with Feedback. At national league level feedback has been through more clubs than a Canadian fur seal culler, but spins a good yarn. (And he's promising to fix up the dreadfully ugly grammar in his forum signature).

i think it was Feedback, who, having walked the walk, later in the night talked the talk, and recounted  the tale about Colonel Halstead on a NZ schoolboys tour of Australia, back in the day. The boys were advised to wear their No1s one night -- and Halstead duly turned out on parade in a KFC uniform shirt.

it was pure gold to think Peter would even think to pack his KFC shirt for the tour.... But then to find an occasion to wear it, just brilliant. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Does anyone know if the TW vs YHM game on the 18th will be changed to an earlier kick-off? I don't fancy driving like a lunatic across town to catch the start of the Phoenix match. Some social time at the BB in between would be appreciated too.

If it all falls into place we will be in for a Super Football Sundae!!

This was the first thing we, at least I, raised when the fixtures were released. How come they have just realised now that it's a problem?

There's a distinct lack of publicity about changed kick-off times. The NZFC site still says 3pm. The TW page says nothing - it doesn't even have any more games listed as fixtures.

However, the TW splash page says:

NEXT HOME GAME:

Team Wellington v YH Manawatu
Newtown Park
January 18

Kick Off: 1pm
