Where has Dowling been playing? I don't know how much game time he's going to get.

it sounds like waitak's new scottish signing jordon lowdon is not too bad

he is a former celtic youth player and then had a season in cyprus before moving to australia

anyone with any info from today, feel free to leave a comment on him!

Great opening goal... Then second best all around the park.waitakere just coughed up possession . Right back for Waitak was poor..

The scotish lad looked good when he actually got the ball

Fair result

ACFC treated Waitakere like the side they were - second best

Other than the opening goal which was a lovely ball to split both CBs, Williams did nothing. I though Alec Solomon(s?) was lucky not to get a red card for his tackle on Krishna - it was ugly. Probably the only saving grace was no studs but Jesus..

I though ACFC carried Billen and Feneridis who did nothing for them and Tade did his usually 20 mins of brilliance and not much else. Bale was easily the best player on the park with Irving making everything look simple. Waitakere carried more than a few players that did nothing - Jack Hobson-McVeigh won't start again and Cuneen is slower than Sigmund and Ivan combined and was consistently beaten. Cardoza = ineffectual

Waitakere will beat some sides simply because they are Waitakere but they won't beat a TW or ACFC this year. They looked in pre-season mode still and coughed up possession far far too easily. I think they got to the stage where they started focusing on the decisions they were not getting vs playing to beat ACFC in the end. Interesting to hear Butler give his coach (Shelley) a serve and Shelley just took it. I think this side will implode because there is no dominate personality to tell Butler and co to pull their heads in.

From what you've said Jeff Vader I don't expect much from Waitakere this reason which makes me angry. They can't afford to keep their top players and a quality coach and when they go and they don't have money to replace them with top quality. I don't think Shelley as coach works because if you're a senior player I doubt you'd want to have a fellow teammate who is also a coach telling you what to do, especially if you're at the same level.

I just don't think Waitakere have the strike power up front to trouble teams now. I think they had a pretty average pre season compared to ACFC which isn't going to help you prepare to come up a team which would probably fit into the A-League.

he played last winter season with Ellerslie in our doomed premier league campaign - but he was immense - going to be tough for him to challenge Robbo but he does like a challenge.

I thought the Hogg that played for Waitakere was not the same quality as the Hogg that played for ACFC. I guess oddly enough when you look at the difference in Bale since he moved to ACFC, I guess players can look better in good sides. Coombes is not the same player he was at ACFC either.

Agree. And I wonder, like you?, if Krishna & de Vries are going to look as good with ACFC as they did with Waitak. Somehow I doubt it. As you say, different system.

Btw, if you ever saw Darren White struggling at Eastern Suburbs c.f. his committment to the ACFC cause! Of course East Subs weren't in a position to tempt him with a trip to Morocco.

Coombes was very close to signing for WaiBOP, with no incentive of extra pay or anything on the side, Mulligan the same (he wanted to coach as well but the Fed wouldn't sign off on it, so HB it was). While I don't know much about the coaches in Waitak, I think that shows the attitude towards them and the season ahead somewhat

I've tried a few times now to purchase a Waitak polo shirt from the club and all my attempts to contact them (Facebook and email) have been ignored. This to me clearly show's they don't exactly care about their fan base which due to their limited marketing is probably quite small. I think the quality of the coaching reflects the club's image overall.

Despite the result, Pep Temple, sorry i mean Paul Guardiola, looked dashing yesterday in his suit and tie combo. Not sure why he felt the need to pass instructions on to his players via notes though. Could hear a pin drop out at that paddock.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah I agree. The supporters for ACFC were the loudest. Ramon did not need to do anything and Temple/Shelley should have been doing coaching.

If Mulligan and Coombes had both gone to Waibop, that would have done that franchise the world of good. I put the Alan jones connection down to that. Interesting as to why Mulligan did not go and the coaching thing why it was dismissed..

Federation too cheap I believe. If this squad had even one of those two players, they'd be a legitimate playoff contender. Not as much with the current midfield.

7pm.. Had the full game.

Live I thought the tackle by Solomon might have been red but it was yellow. Certainly stuffed up the Berlanga card though..... Otherwise, there was nothing in the game remotely controversial or decided by the officials.

No doubt auckland were the better side but  waitakere no 6 falls over 1 st goal.. The  Waitakere right back  gives ball away ( again) for 2nd goal. Then gets caught for 3 rd goal  then young Thai boy get caught for 4 th goal....

Think if Myers goes back in they won't be to far off...  Just no depth...as auckland city got them all

ACFC gave them an All Whites LB.

Thank you! I still have the feeling that City will get top spot this season but a 3-0 win is a good way to start. Does anyone know if OFC TV will be doing highlights of Waitak's games again this season?
