I love Durante's comment. When it happened he went to the linesmen and referee who both said they didn't see it. Then at halftime when he goes to the referee again the referee says it wasn't intentional. How on Earth can the referee have an opinion on intent IF HE DIDN'T SEE IT?!!$(%T*)$()*%^T(%^@#^*$(^!)($#)*%&^$#()!_)!#)%*$^)(*I(!%T?%U^@*%!

Not the first time Sydney have done this to us - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfC7PFpw60Q - 40 seconds in, the difference being, Ben Williams/a Lino spotted at and McFlynn recieved a yellow card.
It's funny how you disagree with the notion of video replays in football entirely until something like this happens to your team, the side were clearly mentally affected by going down to a goal like that, and combined with having to throw caution to the wind as a result of the handball it was the blatant turning point of the game. The boys would have been infinately more confident coming out in the second half at 1-1.
You know we belong together...

People said we need replays - that proves it because the ref's all missed it. We now know they didn't so I'm still not supporting replays. Only goal-line technology in balls (the thing that makes a beep when it goes over).
I think a lot of the people saying it was unintentional are just trying to sound like gracious losers while inside they're boiling with an inconsolable rage. They'll come around.
When we play Sydney next season at home I'm going to fly up just to give Payne hell. I hope he takes a corner in front of aisle 21.
I just think his arms needn't have been anywhere near where they were - in similar goals to that (though when the head is used) the arms are often not raised to that degree. I also wonder, if it was accidental do you think the ball would've knocked his arm away and only taken a small deflection? But as it was intentional he tensed his arm which resulted in the ball going straight forward and in?

Just f**king gay tbh, I think they may have had us but still we'll never know for sure... Such a frustrating way to end the season. We can still hold our heads high.

arm above head = handball. If your arm is in such a way as to make your body bigger, then the interpretation is that it is considered a deliberate handball. How the referee could see the incident, and see it hit his hand, and then say it wasnt deliberate so the goal stands is unbelievable. He should never referee an A League game again if that is the case.

Had a look at the highlights and to me it definitely is intentional, he is still swinging his arm through after. The rest of the goals look ok, didnt see any offsides that others have questioned
This is another case to show officialdom that there needs to be something from the disciplinary committee that can award decent penalties, like a 6 month suspension, to a player who is deemed to have deliberately fouled / cheated in an incident that has not been correctly called by the referee.
All refs make mistakes on the field, but mistakes that lead to goals are maximised, esp in losing teams eyes.
I dont see the whole Sydney team as cheats, just Payne. In that split second I dont know whol saw that he had used his arm and when the ball is in the net, you celebrate. Would we have been any different??
We had to change our attack more to get back to level, and we opened up more at the back as a result. If we were still 1 all round the 60 min mark when they got their next goal, the game would have been played in a different pattern by both teams. So who knows what would have happened, but Sydney were edging us the whole time I thought.
Payne, you cheated , shame on you

In a week when we've all calmed down and accepted the result can't be changed, I think ,most Nix fans will start singing at where-ever they are watching the Grandfinal - if they are watching it, singing.... "I'm Melbourne till I die" just on this one occassion and then when Melbourne kick Sydneys butt, we'll revert back to our Phoenic fandom again.

I was always under the impression that if your arm is making your body bigger it is a FK, regardless of intention. Right or wrong?
this.
whether it was intentional or not is completely irrelevant. his arms were sticking out. if a ball hits a defenders stuck out arm its always a penalty, this should be no different.
obviously Payne is a prick, but the real blame should be on the refs, if they did indeed say they saw it hit his arm

Recorded and watched the " hand of pain" incident a dozen times.

Anyone who says it was unintentional(or an accident) is talking bollocks.!

watch it again....anyone lunging forward to head a ball naturally throws the arms down and back for balance and to get more power. He had his right arm down and back but flung his left arm forward to meet the ball as it missed his head....deliberate hand ball. He knew what he was doing. If you lead into a header with an arm up then you are deliberatly in a position to have the arm contact the ball.

Straight out of the Diego Maradonna coaching manual.

Don't cloud the issue with "but we would have lost anyway" or "what would you done in the same position"......it was cheating.

Actually if FIFA had any balls and had responded the way they should after the "Henry" incident then there would be mechanisisms to stamp this shiite out.

How can it be unintentional? He was not going to get the ball with his head. Case in point Kwasnik got sent off trying to stop a goal doing exactly the same thing. (SYD vs CCM, 22/12/07)
Sydney outplayed us, but if we go into the break at 1-1, things would be far more different.

That big black thing in the middle is worth the same as the sum of the NZDF planes, helicopters, ships and aromured vehicles.
Edit - Azevo that's an 130 hercules and it's firing defensive flares, they trick IR misssiels. You're probably more interested in the AC-130 variant and its 105mm howitzer that pokes out the side, or the two 20mm cannon.

Just wiki'd for curiosity, apparently one unit in 1997 cost 700 mil, I guess now they would cost 2 billion due to upgrades etc.. whole program cost was 44.75 billion.. which almost half our GDP

I myself am fan of Blackbird (Had a pic but it took up bout half the page haha)
just to add a bit on topic, Payne is a w**ker, and seeing that reignited a flame of anger from 08/09 season, when we vs'd Sydney (away) on January 11th I believe, and McFlynn spiked the ball and tryed to claim it was a goal. That pissed me off big time. I sometimes wonder if they promote that in their club.. But really as said on YF,
"the day a professional football player owns up to a goal, I'll be snowboarding in hell."

They can suspend you for diving to win a penalty if it results in you winning the game, but this is different. I doubt anything will happen. That miserable son of a bitch.
How is scoring directly off your arm different from diving to win a penalty?
how about one for Brosque? his effort in the first half was certainly that and his prior record shows it to be a tactic of his.

Counter measures, right? I see what you're talking, those gunships right? I just know that our Air Force still has some of them old Hercules, just getting some upgrades now , gonna be their last upgrades before they get retired I reckon.
