Just need the Auckland guys to say yes and then it'll be concrete.

You want to play on concrete?!?! You Wellington guys ARE crazy!! Sorry couldn't help myself :P

Oh man hard choice... Owairaka domain may not be as good a pitch it is closer to the other venues (apart from the bar). Bill McKinley looks ok though... drive past it when I drop my girlfriend off at work. Was being played on earlier.

I think we should vote.

1. Owairaka domain - convenient location.

2. Bill McKinley park - better pitch and possibly showers, which would likely be needed.

I can do transport runs if needed... and there will be buses from Panmure into the city, but likely best for car runs to Kiwitea Street.

Well hasn't been a lot of voting for the field.

I will ring and see if we can acquire Bill McKinley park if a decision isn't made. Seems about the best if we want to keep our skin intact... unless there is rain to soften up the other field.

Also we have a ref! :D

Bill McKinlay is really good.

Although the rubber pitch gets mighty hot in the sun, and sliding tackles pull the skin off your legs (picture a human burnout).

They're quite strict on footwear - no removable sprigs.  Good playing surface.

Otherwise, it has a covered grandstand for supporters, changing rooms with showers, and a pretty decent bar overlooking the pitch.

I can bring shirts for one team if I'd be able to stash the bag at Bill McKinlay and pick them up the following day.

We're pretty good with turf rules.  We're about to get our 6th down here.

Agree on hot.  Had a game Sunday and my feet are still sore from the heat through my boots.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Best go with Bill McKinley if you can get it. Owairaka is just a park field: McKinley is Wembley in comparison.

Enjoy the game, guys. Bring plenty of suntan lotion - Jafatown is hot! hot! hot!

So the plan is to see if we can get Bill McKinley, but if not we'll use Owairaka? When do you think you'll be able to find out by Roadkill?

No bus. The plan was to just use it to get from Foxes to Eden Park, but now that most people are going to Kiwitea it's not really worth it.

Just read in another thread that trains are out of action on Saturday, right pain in the arse.

Extra buses on, www.maxx.co.nz  is the website for trip planners etc

Here's one to get from Bill McKinlay to Kiwitea St leaving after 12:30pm

There were murmurs of a charter Fever Bus, was there any progress with this?

Considering you would miss the 1st half at Kiwitea, is it worth it?

No. The only way McKinley is going to work is if we can get from there to Kiwitea St before 1pm, which means the game probably has to finish at 11.30 so we can shower. Will then need a way to transport everyone there, so hopefully enough of our Aucklanders have cars that you can fill up with people.

In Jeff's absence -

1. Eddie Edge is an eccentric

2. He's Declan's father

3. His bus is a banger

Eddie Edge is Declans dad. Daft as a brush. Him and Declan have this love hate thing. Eddie really is quite mad although harmless. Basically he lives in a house bus that is older than I am and drives it to all the games. You know he is there when you see the bus.

Kinda of a strange crazy hermit looking character.

Edit: and when you see Eddie, you can understand how the apple has not fallen far from the tree at all.

I think the best example I can use is the bucket man at Kiwitea that is always screaming 'yellow yellow' behind the far goal.

Hahahaha I've only been to Kiwitea once or twice but that guy was great. Eddie just gets into arguments with spectators, I'll kind of miss him at Melville games....

Yeah the bucket man is a bit more friendlier, if a little more drunk...

Yeah I heard 2pm from Barbara (women I talked to about Bill McKinlay park). So far the best we can do is 12pm... which should give us just enough time to shower and get over for the kick-off at ACFC (about 15 mins drive).

There is another group the is looking at using it from 9 - 12, but they haven't confirmed yet, so she will call them and get back to me in the next couple of days.

Field is $100 + GST/hour and $25 for changing room. So if anyone has any contacts to try and get it cheaper that would be great :)

It says 1pm on the ASBP website. I hope it's 1pm...

Would prefer the earlier kickoff time, even if that means a crappier field.

Allegedly
