If Sesko is the kind of striker who won't step up in a shootout against League 2 opposition then we dodged a bullet. He probably wanted Onana to go before him too.

Unfortunately this is fake news, he went 8th and scored. Let Mount, Dalot, Cunha, Zirkzee, Mainoo, Maguire, De Ligt go ahead of him.
In other news, I’m weirdly hopeful about getting a result at Anfield. Just something about their results looking dodgy, and the way we dismantled Leeds, gives me real hope we can step up.

Bruno and Mbuemo both went before Sesko. He went 10th.
Three for me, and two for them.
He was 10th. Only Onana went after him. In any case, not being in the 5 is unacceptable for a 70 million pound striker.
We scored a few goals at home against the newly promoted team but based on the other 2 games (and probably pre season) it's looking like goals are going to be hard to come by against most opposition when our only real attacking threats are the fullbacks. Feels like it could be long and frustrating season.
didnt see the game but feel it's way too early to be feeling down on the team.

I watched extended highlights, evenly matched, with us having a bit more of it if highlights are anything to go by. Decided by an amazing free kick, cant really fault raya too much despite the distance.
Nothing to get down about, what happens after we've had a crack at them at home will show who is the best overall. Next game against Nottingham Forest becomes crucial to win though, heading into Man City.
Madueke looked pretty decent. Eze up to speed and starting on the left will add real muscle. Very disappointed in Martinelli over the past 12+ months, I honestly thought he was a world beater before that, and that he would only get better. Happy with Zubimendi so far, looking forward to seeing how he grows as he gets used to the league.

Hincapie signed on deadline day, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen.
Sambi Lokonga sold to Hamburg.
Vieira loaned to Hamburg.
Kiwior loaned to Porto.
Zinchenko loaned to Notts Forest.
Nelson loaned to Brentford.

smart business to close out the window, hopefully Hincapie can do more for us as the backup to Califiore and our CB pairing, looks like he's been operating as the LCB in a back 3 for BL.

I really like the look at Hincapie. Will be interesting to see how Mosquera goes, and if his form reduces the pressure on keeping Saliba or Gabriel. For PSR reasons I suspect a big money exit needed next summer, and I wonder who we might be lining up.
I think if Martinelli doesn't perform/improve/ go to the next level, then he is the name leaving next year. With Eze, we have a different, and probably higher skilled, left sides attacking player. He'll need to up his game to keep his spot.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.
I don’t disagree BUT I’m not sure he’d be a big enough PSR boost via an exit given his valuation has come right back. I suspect it’ll be academy kids needed; Saka/MLS/Nwaneri, or a Gabriel/Saliba big money move to Madrid.
Without Rice, Saliba, Saka, and an early injury to Odegaard we looked as fluid as we have in recent memories. Merino flawed me today with some of his close control, his connection with Zubimendi is unreal, and I can see Rice being in a difficult position. Eze had some sublime touches, the way he dances past defences is fantastic. Noni looked brilliant too, a few flashes of being a bit raw but most of the time had his defender on toast. I'm so bloody excited for this season.
100% The depth to our sqaud this seaosn compared to last is immense, similar injury toll and we were relying on teenage academy lads to start. Even though Lewis-skelly and Nwaneri are brilliant its so god they are the bench options with Caliafiori and Eze being the starting options.
Gyokeres looks like he's gonna score pletny this season, just need to wide guys to get the ball to him, 3 goals in 4 appearances, all the doubters will be worried.

Loved that 2nd goal. Exactly what those two players were signed for. What a difference actually having a centre forward attacking the 6 yard box makes when someone fizzes it across.
I don't necessarily think Rice is in a difficult situation. He just played twice for England and we have CL midweek and 115 FC next weekend. This was exactly the kind of rotation you need to be able to do. It's the whole point of spending all the money, so the squad is now in a shape where we can rotate pretty much every position without needing to run key players into the ground.
How good does Mosquera look btw?

I'm liking the rotation and I'm liking how Madueke has performed so far this season.
Hopefully means when Saka is fit again he doesn't get over used or brought back too early.

Mosquera looked solid, not Saliba by any stretch but solid in defence with a decent pass on him. A really good recruit!

That Burnley defender who gave away the penalty is a fudgeing mug.
Saw the result when i woke up and went "bet it was injury time." 90+5 pen. You couldn't make it up. Really doesn't matter how good we are this season.
Burnley looked like they were well up for that, second yellow for the red was softer than the hand ball in the box. Defender's arm was extended, although the argument could have been made his arm was being brought towards his body not the ball. Grey area. I'm not sure I would have given it.

A lot of chat about Madueke, Zubimendi, Eze, quite rightly so.
But like others I also came away from that feeling pretty pumped about Mosquera. He looks really freaking good. Big, powerful, fast, and seems to have a calm head and good feet, like Saliba.
Our recruiting is looking first class right now.

At the very least, it doesn't feel like the whole house falls down if Saka or Saliba are out which it has done in recent seasons.
What are people doing for the CL this season? I couldn't justify the cost of DAZN last season being double what it was on Bein when I'd only watch one game a month so went with the US Paramount Plus and VPN option, which cost about the same as Bein did per month. Had an email from DAZN advertising the CL this morning and offering 20% off so went to the link to see which subscription option it was and it only comes up with the full price options. Went on their live chat to ask and they told me to forward them the email so they can see what the offer was and get back to me.
How do they not know what they've sent out? Shark show. Remember last season they initially advertised a big discount on the annual sub that would have been about the same cost as Bein, then it disappeared and you couldn't actually get it and the live chat said there was no such thing. If the actual streaming is anything like the advertising and customer service I don't want to risk giving them the money for it to just not work.

That's an excellent away win against a good team. Lovely goal from Martinelli. He's good at driving to the box and is a good finisher. If his days out wide for us are numbered I do still think there's a player there who could provide an alternative option at striker when it's needed. Apparently the first time ever in the CL that two subs have come on and assisted each other's goals.
Trossard already with a goal and a couple of assists and he's barely played while another game passes without a goal involvement for Madueke. He's been good and caused problems for defenders, but some end product needs to happen eventually. Matching Trossard's sort of output from recent seasons seems a reasonable aim when he's essentially taken his place in the pecking order.

Mikel and his finishers eh? Works a lot better as a concept when your finishers are Martinelli/Trossard instead of Zinchenko/Tierney!
In other news is great to see the Sp*rs hasn’t washed off for Ange after Forrest threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Swansea!

That goal from Martinelli has everything I love about him and also why his spot is under threat. The anticipation, the speed, the shark touches and the jammy finish. If he can polish the latter two he will be a world beater.

the lack of quality finishing is probably why his spot has been under threat since last season, we need goal scorers from both sides of the pitch and the centre.
Gyokeres seems to have solved the pointy end, just need to get goals from the wings, Eze, Saka, Martinelli, Madueke, Trossard all need to contribute and consistently.

Trossard/Martinelli combining to win that game off the bench is exactly what I want.
Although Trossard's goal and assist output is awesome, I like him on the bench. I've never been all that convinced when he's been given starts, and we need someone to do what he does from our bench, I think it's absolutely perfect for our team. Difficult thing is to keep him happy in that role, but Arteta seems to have been able to do that so far.
Our squad is so deep now, it's awesome. Only change to those sides above for me would be Eze for Martinelli. But very interested to see if Martinelli responds to this challenge and gets his game consistently back to what it was 2 years ago.

Not a great watch this morning. Took far too long to get going. City parked the bus second half and could barely string two passes together.
Glad we got a point right at the death, brilliant finish from Martinelli and what a ball from Eze. Really feels like a missed opportunity though. City not what they once were and there for the taking.

Three for me, and two for them.
What a ball from Eze and finish from Martinelli. Again as he showed in midweek, even if he's not in thr strongest 11 anymore there's still a valuable and important player there.
I get the midfield at Anfield but at home there is no need to start 3 defensive midfielders against anyone. How did he expect we were going to get the ball into the final 3rd? Eze should have started. Thankfully the change was made at half time. Sadly already in a position where another defeat looks almost fatal in terms of the title.

I'll take the draw against City, was worried it would be mor of the same and we'd lose to these guys and Liverpool. Good to see an improvement on that front though
Last year we got 4 points from City at home and Liverpool away.
This year we got 1 point.
How is that an improvement?
Three for me, and two for them.
I think we're in that scenario in 12 months time with Eze more settled and he's surely starting over Merino. Difference for me was midfield again and we were just lacking a bit of creative thrust. When you've got Zubimendi and Rice together, surely you can afford more of a maverick attacking player alongside them.

4 points over the whole season, 1 point from two games this season. Liverpool look like they are going to dominate this season again!
Come the second half of the season we'll be beating City and pushing Liverpool for the draw.
So from the 4 games in EPL, instead of 4 points it'll be 5 or 7 this season.
