Tzolis looks bright already.
Perfect morning then. Clean sheet, routine win.
Bruno out and MLS looks the business in his place. I loved Zubimendi but if we can get some coin for him we can probably cash in now, with Bruno, Merino there to compete with Rice/MLS.
Tzolis looked good and we're still trying to strengthen that position it seems. No Martinelli in the squad today, seems that must be him gone, but if I'm honest, with Tzolis looking this decent I'd be happy to hold off in that role now and retain Martinelli.
Konsa announced, giving us the depth we need in defence. Mosquera is pretty good anyway, what a squad we've got.
Happy days.

Good start to the new season, Tzolis looks very good, pacy, tricky and good at getting the ball into dangerous positions, notable button back in pace when the changes were made. It was only Coventry and the class difference was apparent, but these gaems are the ones we need to dominate and get a solid buffer in. Great start!

Really good start. Very impressed with Tzolis early on. Coventry didn’t throw a punch but that is because we completely controlled the game from start to finish.
Our depth is insane when you look at the subs we made today we barely lose anything bringing them all on.

Three for me, and two for them.

Lovely results to wake up to. United losing to newly promoted Hull and title contenders Spurs getting battered too. Ipswich also won on their return against a top 7 team. "Only a promoted team" didn't even last 24 hours. No easy games in this league although to be fair Hull and Brentford did get kind starts.

I assume we are gonna keep using this thread for the 26/27 season?
this morning's game has gotten a bit feisty! Villa at home is always tough, but the last 8 minutes have been full of niggle!
Win here puts us top with Man C, early signs would suggest this season will run similarly to last

Big result at a difficult place to play and against a manager for whom playing us is his cup final. Maybe not the best performance but did enough, and did well to hold on, and they didn't have a shot on target. Arteta becomes the 2nd person to both play and manage 250 games in the PL according to the commentary (Mark Hughes being the 1st).

Bit surprised we’ve only brought in Tzolis after letting Trossard and Martinelli go (aswell as Jesus and Nwaneri). We’re pretty stacked in defence and midfield now, but seem light in attack.

We still lack an out an out striker, Havertz, Gyokeres, Merino are three front men we have to fill that spot, the first two are good for maybe 10+. If they can both get closer to the 15+ mark with Merino chipping in with 5+ that looks ok, but iot's not terrifying.
On the wings Tzolis looks better than Trossard and Martinelli but the reliance on Saka again on the right is concerning. Eze and Madueke need to really show their worth in supporting those two.
If Nwaneri goes then Dowman gets a really good chance this season to get some good minutes.

Been a bit of a failure this window. Tzolis looks the goods but as he performance on Tuesday morning shows, isn't the answer for what we need in that space. While Bruno and Konsa are excellent players, they are strengthening areas we are already quite strong.
Still quite puzzles as to why we pushed martinelli out. We lack depth at LW, he's a different sort of player to Tzolis and has delivered for us time and time again in big matches.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

yeah I wouldnt have thought we needed more central midfielder support, Rice, Odegaard, Merino, Eze, MLS, now Bruno, same with the CB setup, with Saliba injured we needed some back up but i cant see Konsa getting many minutes with Mosquere sitting at CB and doing a decent enough job with Gabriel.

I would think Konsa has come in ahead of Mosquera for the price, and with Mosquera going down yesterday he probably starts. Anyway with Saliba out we'd have been a bit screwed with Mosquera going down if we hadn't signed anyone. Both right backs have injury issues too and Konsa (aswell as Mosquera) can cover there. Made sense to sign that sort of experience and quality at this stage.
Similarly with Bruno. Rice and Zubimendi were running on fumes by the end of last season with Norgaard deemed not good enough to play any meaningful game. This gives us the option to rotate without weakening the midfield. There are plenty of games to go around if we go deep in the cups or CL too. Based on the games so far it looks like Merino is considered the Odegaard alternative which is a bit unexpected, and Eze is the other LW option.
Surprised at Gyokeres not getting on in either league game though, especially with Havertz having a stinker yesterday. Not sure what's happening there.

Seems like Martinelli was a business decision - get that cash while we could.
Clearly looks like a failure in not getting someone else in for that LW spot.
Jesus going was always going to happen, I don't see any issues with that despite not picking up a replacement. We have Gyokeres and Havertz for up top, which I am happy with.
We're really going to need Eze to step up, potentially in that LW spot, and possibly Madueke on that side too. And we should be looking to go again for that position in the Jan window.
The squad is still incredibly strong and we get goals from everywhere, so I'm not too concerned. What was mildly more concerning was Tzolis being so poor in the 1st half at Villa and getting yanked. Don't want to see that again, we will need some consistency from him.

We are a much better team with Havertz up top instead of Gyokeres.

Big result. Feels like a bit of a statement coming from behind to beat them after they had come in as some sort of all conquering title favourites having spent a lot of money and scored a few goals in the first 2 games.
Really lovely 2nd goal. Beautiful assist from Tzolis who was excellent after a torrid time last week.
