stienson got subbed last game at half time against aris. I hope this doesnt mean he might be dropped.

and does anyone know much about this rigga guy?

Steinsson subbed at halftime doesnt mean anything pre season.
Its about players getting the fitness.
I watched the game against Aris and Steinsson had a little tussle with there winger, Meggo might have taken him of to not risk a potential red card suspension.

As for Riga, to sum it up easily, he is similar to Dioufy. And if you dont know what he looks like then he is similar to Ricki Gardner

Strongest at being a winger but could also be played upfront, he scored a stunner against Chorley. Had some decent runs against Aris but didnt have much impact, still getting use to the side i suppose.

One more pre-season game against AEK but apart from that i am fairly pleased, all 3 new signings have scored, including Dzemaili who you could count as new after being injured for pretty much all of last season apart from 45 minutes in the FA Cup against Sheffield and a handful of reserve apperences.

Great work from the lads, we could have had a few more but lets not take anything away from this crucial 3 points

Steinsson with a screamer as well!

Good to see we have given up on chasing Harper around, never really rated him and Reading would have only sold him at an inflated price.

Rumors floating around the Megson is going back in for Bullard.

Would take some deal to snap him away from Fulham however!

Just promise a higher position than Fulham, they wont ever finish above 15th.

wouldnt pass the fitness test, given the state of his knee, paying money for him would be a massive risk

Dear oh dear!

When we got drawn against Northampton Town at home in the Carling Cup i thought it was a great draw, should get through without any problems.

How wrong i was, 2-1 loss and we never really seemed in it. Northampton certainly played the better football from what i heard.

What makes this result worse is the fact Gary Cahill got sent off and in the process earns himself a 3 game ban

I was listening to this one on Wanderers World and ive never heard such a bigger "Boo" erupt from the Reebok after a match, i just hope Megson rips into them before the WBA game this weekend cause we need to get back on track and win that one!

So ive just seen Megsons latest interview and it turns out Elmander and Taylor DIDNT pick up MINOR injuries!

Elmander has torn his hammy
Matty Taylor has broken his toe
So are both facing length periods on the sidelines...

Thats not what i wanted to hear ahead of the WBA game, we now have three starting 11 players out, you can add on Cahill for his "American Football Clothlines Block" red card suspension against Northampton Town, Surely AEK Athens was a warning for the young lad?

Oh No elmander gone

Back to bugger all upfront and hoping to win 1-0 games all over again. WE NEED ANOTHER FORWARD MEGSON!

The worst possible news i could've heard

Grabbed Smolarek on loan this morning with the option to buy.

Good bit of business from Megson it seems, i didnt think we would get in another striker but i guess it was needed after Elmander pulled up injured and we lack the numbers up front...

We might see him come off the bench against WBA then, i just hope he doesnt prove to be another Rasiak

Right thought i would dig the ol Bolton page back up as it has dropped down a bit...

Fulham away this weekend, whats your lots predictions?

My heart is saying we can snatch this 1-0, McCann scoring, but my head is telling me Fulham will take the 3 points...

In saying that a draw wouldnt be to bad, as long as there are a few goals involved, as we are struggling to hit the back of the net these days (well from an onside position anyway...)

Also Megson has come out and said Smolarek will not be taking part tomorrow, reason being he has been out on internation duty (and scoring there as well!) and hasnt had the time to gel with his new team mates yet..

Muamba, Joey O'Brien and McCann in our 5 man midfield.

When will Megson realise they cant all work together in a 3 man defensive mid?

They are too similar, Nolan is the only open play attacking threat from that lot as Gardner doesnt provide much going forward in left mid (although his performance yesterday was probably one of the better)

He really needs to give us an attacking chance by playing someone like Riga ahead of McCann or changing from 451, its just too defensive otherwise and Davies is isolated up front on his own, he had a few attempts from distance last night, something we are not use to seeing and i can only image he did that was because he has no support up there.

  Rant over.

any news on elmander? is he playing against ars this week end cam?
Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Sky Sports news said he was 50-50 yesterday, so we can only hope he has come right

But would you risk him? Dont wont to rush him back and make things worse...

I hope Smolarek is back, his mother and law passed away so thats why he took off last weekend, Riga will also be knocking on that door to make a league start! This gives Megson a few options against Arsenal

Ok well after reading this mornings edition of the Bolton News it seems unlikely Johan will play

I doubt he will play against Arsenal, Megson said. Hes getting closer, but we will have to see.

Elmander and Cahill back for United away. Will certainly need them.
I take it most will be watching? Whats peoples predictions?
I think its going to be a long game for us with United dominating possesion, i just watched Cahills interview, he made a good point, United have the likes of Rooney,Berbatov,Ronaldo and maybe even Tevez starting, if one has a poor game you can gurantee that one of the others will make up for it.

definately will stay up to watch it. Looking forward to seeing Elmander play again although he may have a bad game due to lack of match fitness.

Could be a painful watch but i'm hoping for the best

HALFTIME 0-0.

Maybe we should be in front though, Muamba missed a sitter at the end of the half!

Keep it up boys!

ROB STYLES YOU CHEATING TWAT

How on earth was that a penalty?, once you all see that on the highlight show you will agree with me 100%.

devastated from that shocker of a call wasn't even close to a penalty.

two decent performances returned with no points. That's the problem with playing these top teams. However West Ham and Blackburn are our next two fixtures and we need to keep up the performances then and for a reward.

... and Cam Elmander looked good, i'm excited about rigga but not vaz te. yourr thoughts
Permalink Permalink

Yeah im surprised that Vaz Te came on and Riga remained on the bench.
Elmander put in a decent shift, no surprise he had to come off though, lacking the match fitness after his injury.
Despite his miss Muamba had a good game, lot of good tackles. Cahill was key and its good to have him back. Jussi with another great performance, a number of saves, didnt have a chance of the Rooney curler. Much better performance from the players compared to our last away game at Fulham.

West Ham will be another tough game and it worries me, they have played some good stuff under Zola so far, i would take the same result as last year right now if offered, 1-1.

west ham are good so far this season but atleast we will get more posession and get guys like elmander in the game more.

It's on tv so will be able to watch the game. A decent effort will be required to get something from the game but i have a better feeling about this game.

2-0 up at halftime and its enjoying to watch, passing the ball well up the pitch.

Keep it up lads and secure our first away win!

Its going to be hard to fit Taylor back into the starting line up now.
Gardner
is playing well down, wouldnt be right to just drop him while he is on form but then again it depends what Megson wants down that side...
Gardner provides us with much needed pace and goes on runs while Taylor is better at moving the ball and whipping crosses into the box.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see the same line up against Blackburn in a couple of weeks with Taylor possibly coming off the bench again, just praying for no injuries from Internationals.

Derby Day Tonight and im in a confident mood
A game that could go either way but im picking us to just snatch this one.

About time Elmander got another one i say, but i dont care who gets it in or how it gets there as long as we get the points.

As Matty Taylor says "I dont care if i score with my Nose i just want to get on the scoresheet again"

same meaning right ?
but yea something like that - i just cant understand how we have got so bad in 2 years - not just bad but shocking - the likes of spurs and newcastle wont be there in a few weeks - were screwed something has to happen - bring back sam would be an ideal start.
Permalink Permalink

Couldnt see Big Sam coming back no matter how much id like to see it...

And conceding is not the main problem its scoring!
We have played 10 games and scored 8 goals, so in 6 of those games we havnt scored, thats a poor stat...
But then again only kept 2 clean sheets but i wouldnt worry about that if were winning games 3-1

Great performances all round & nobody played poorly!

However stand out players have to go to Samuel, Gardner, Cahill and Jussi.

Samuel was a rock at the back, and what a crucial tackle/clearence that was in the second half!
Cahill kept Robinho at bay, his positioning on the field was top notch and let nothing get in behind him
Jaaskelainen had one of his better game all season today, controlled the back four very well and stood strong to make a couple of saves
And well Gardner (who Sky Sports gave MOM) pretty much earned himself a starting place against Hull surely? A Goal and setting up the other, looking very lively.
