What an embarrassingly inept performance. Utter crap today apart from one great moment from Sturridge. Kind of ruins the good work in beating City.

Back to 9 points behind City with a tough game against Tottenham this week.

absolute rubbish. hope we pick it up for Tottenham.
How do you go 3-0 Newcastle, 3-0 Valencia, 2-1 Man City then 1-1 Wigan?!

Yea that result really f**ked me off. I had a feeling too that we would drop points. Just when we were getting back on track.

Im pretty nervous for the Tottenham game i must admit

As for Napoli, im quite excited by this. Sure it will be tough but it's always fun to play a new team and if we play as good as we can then i think we can get through the tie.

Watched the recorded game last night, what a match! agree we were lucky to have avoided that penalty.
Great to see them back in form. I thought JT played brilliantly, Drogba looking sharp again, Sturridge was good to share the ball intelligently, Mata was fantastic, and Ramires outpacing everyone on the park!
Hoping for another 3 points this weekend v Wigan, and toppling Tottenham next week

Yes please. I'm also hoping we follow your lead against City and blow the title race WIDE open!

Great game. Not an ideal result, but probably a fair one.

Brittish football teams not following the requests of their Kiwi supporters. Pack of w*nkers.

EDIT - do you have another keeper? Because Czech was awful in that goal.brumbys2011-12-23 13:16:21

Another pretty terrible display. Geez we look so poor at times. then just like the wigan game AVB takes off the one player who looks like scoring in Sturridge.

A painful game to watch.

Looks like you've got Gary Cahill. He's been turning in some decent performances for Bolton so I'm sure he'll do well at Chelsea.

Boy that was a tough holiday period. It pains me to look at the table and think if we had just got the wins we should have against fulham and wigan then we would still be only 7 behind. not to mention that stupid loss to villa.

ahh 4-0, thats more like it. even if 3 of the goals were in the final minutes. ill take it. Torres had an ok game by some accoubnts, setting up both ramires goals. we are going to need him in form without drogba to fall back on

Was glad to see Pompey press in the first half with what we've currently got, though inevitable, after that first goal, we lost steam.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Sunderland at home this weekend. They have looked pretty good under O'Neill so thinking this will be tougher than it should be. Hopefully we bag the 3 points and slowly but surely steady the ship. We need Sturridge back asap.

Pretty stoked to get the 3 points there, felt for Torres though with that shot coming off the bar, still, hes set up 3 goals in the last 2 games.

And was awesome to see Essien back in the mix

Still not putting teams away or looking overly convincing which is a worry

Was well pleased to see us beat that lot and progress into the next round. Without the 2 manchester clubs one feels a bit more confident

We go De Bruyne on a 5 and a half year contract

Haven't seen a lot of him to be honest. Looking forward to seeing how he goes

Another sh*tty result, haven't seen the game so can't comment on the performance but we really need to be beating the likes of Swansea if we are to be considered a genuine title challenger.

You were sooooo lucky. Swansea far deserved to win, outplayed your overpriced Mercenaries, only for an own goal.
The hilarious thing is that Rodgers was nutured at Chelsea and our goal scorer we bought from your lot for 1 percent of the  price for the Spanish Muppet you paid $50 million for.
And we are locally owned, didn't take the Russian Mafia's blood money, and shows you can play good football with a majority of British players if you give them a chance  - Allen (home grown), Williams (non league football), Britton (released from West Ham because he was too small), Dyer (League Two), Graham (Championship), Taylor (Wrexham)..
We've built from the bottom and as the fans sing " We're premier league and we're having a laugh."

well that was a tough one to take, no excuses for giving away a 3 goal lead . but, thats sport, no point dwelling on it. kind of sums up this season sadly.

still, that goal from Mata was a beauty

How are you feeling about AVB?  Not his fault, one more season, or gone in summer?

Well i dont like the constant managerial changes so would like to see him kept on for now. But hes been poor, but some of the players have been equally as poor. But then its up to the manager to get the best out of the players. but then theres Torres. So..

Will have Ramires back for Birmingham so thats a bonus. Have really missed his go foward. One of the few bright sparks for us this season

That sounds a bit like "One more season".  (Failing a catastrophic collapse.)

Well yes and no. Continuity would nice for a change. But how many seasons like this one are acceptable. If we do this bad next season and don't appear to be heading in the right direction then yes, he should probably go. I mean after all its a job and if one doesn't peform then changes have to be made. But i feel he still has a chance to get it right. Given a bit more time.

f**king hell we cant even put away Birmingham at home. Thats pretty f**king poor.

Thank God for Danny Sturridge. Mata unlucky not to score that penalty, great save. By the sounds of it though, we were just not good en ough once again.

Should we beat Birmingham in our replay we face Leicester City in the Quarter Final. That should be a winnable tie if we play to anywhere near our potential.

Napoli this week, another huge game for us. Bit nervous as to how we will go. Would definitely take a draw away, if we could sneak an away goal i would be pretty stoked.

Can't wait to see this game, should be interesting to see how Napoli play without any communication with their manager http://www.uefa.com/uefa/footballfirst/matchorganisation/disciplinary/news/newsid=1753582.html
We've gotta get some wins in, painful stuff. If not v Napoli, we have to squash Bolton
