On Sommet now - De Bruyne been most dangerous so far but commentary have barely mentioned him.. all about Hazard and Oscar for them

Yeah De Bruyne was brilliant against Hull.  A bit suprised he wasn't in for Villa.

How many times did Ba get caught offside??  Lukaku looked great on his short stint, hope he starts against Utd.

Speaking of, they are showing the Chels v Utd game live at the Paddington for those in Auckland :) They do a great breakfast and qualty screen/sound

...Ba's offsides were so closed...that same lino may have rule out Chelsea's winning goal..Cech played bloody well keeping us in the game.....Villa look a half decent team this year,.... early days but 6 points...love it

Watched the first half. The Chelsea commentary is very good. Far superior to any club commentary team I have heard.

Pat Nevin is relatively unbiased and think he rated Villa a lot which was great to here - the other guiy whose name slips me seemed to slip in and out of cheerleader mode as the game went on.
But overall, definitely the most unbias commentary I've heard from one of these club TV channels

....the other ex player was Michael Duberry...agree Pat Nevin is not to bad

We were rather lucky to get the 3 points against Villa, Frank's passing in the first half was woeful and Juan looked out of sorts, hardly surprising given where he's at fitness wise. Ba's performance was sub-par on so many levels, his positional awareness was found wanting time and time again and we immediately looked more threatening when Romelu came on; fingers crossed he gets the start at Old Trafford, Fernando can get his minutes against Bayern,.

Brana was lucky to escape a red, although Benteke gave as good as he got over the course of the match; not an excuse, mind. JT was being hauled down in the box at the end so the ref was never going to award a penalty for his inadvertent handball.

Jose's post-match comments regarding Lambert were amusing, he's clearly loving the airtime and will no doubt look to assert himself in the media even more as the season progresses.

Lots of creases to iron out, but we've got the right man for the job.

Another note, after a year of having to suffer a threadbare midfield our new-found depth in that department is extremely refreshing, instead of an ineffectual Benayoun on the bench we can now call upon the likes of Van Ginkel and De Bruyne who both look very, very promising. Oscar looks set to thrive in a deeper role and all in all I don't see the need for a central midfield signing, we may not have a defensive specialist but I don't think it's a pressing need, certainly not as pressing as the need for a centre forward in any case.

wonder who we going to start lukaku or torres up front... hope we go with lukaku

Lukaku should play. Also, while I'm here, please loan Mata to Atleti. Thank you.

This from the Guardian comments about the "happy one" being not so happy:

Rob Nicolai

31 August 2013 2:02am

"And so it came to be that the Dark Lord after a disastrous campaign in the South, cowardly and hurriedly fled North abandoning everything and everybody.Soon ominous rumblings were heard from his new abode and the ever watchful Evil eye appeared on top of Stamford Bridge casting baleful looks far and wide. Finally new and despicable plans were hatched and he send his Orcs to do craven and dishonorable battle in Prague against his arch enemy and nemesis. And once again he failed after a close and hard fought battle.

  • Clydebear

Lampard: Do you remember the Bridge, Mr. Mourniho ? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. The racists will be out in force, JT will be chasing down everyone's wife. Do you remember the taste of strawberries? Do you remember the frequent visits from the legal advisor?

Jose: No, Frank. I can't recall the taste of food... nor the sound of water... nor the touch of grass. I'm... naked in the dark, with nothing, no veil... between me... and the wheel of fire! I can see him... with my waking eyes! Those vodka fuelled blood shot eyes.

Lampard: Then let us be rid of it... once and for all! Come on, Mr. Jose. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!

So with all the transfer crap out of the way, who is Mourinho going to play against Everton?

Torres / Eto'o up front?

5 along the midfield - Mata, Hazard (injured?), Willian, Ramires, Oscar

4 at the back - Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole

?

i guess eto upfront depending if he is ready or not.  have we heard back about hazard?
