They will release an app for Android and ios before the start of the season. You will be able to airplay to Apple tv (from ipad/iphone/itouch)

There will be NO smart tv app/ps3/xbox/ or an actual Apple tv app for this season.

I read somewhere they'll look to make apps for certain devices if they find there is demand for it.

New sample up, the first 10 minutes of the city v sunderland game in Hong Kong. Looks much better than the first sample as they aren't cutting every 3 seconds.

Sorry if covered earlier, can anyone confirm ,..MAN U, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool  have done deal with ESPN to broadcast this EPL season...on ESPN 2 I believe?

If its so, can Sky give us ESPN 2 too or does the Coliseum regional deal prevent it?

Sky could do alot more for us like espn2 but they wont

Does anyone actually think Colisuem will be successful? I don't know if they will survive.. seems A LOT of people reluctant to purchase premier league pass atm..

If they make the streaming like SKY HD then they will survive. Until then, 60/40 they will fail.

I'm unsure that HD is that much of a sticking point that it'll make or break them.

When you ask people if they are getting PLP, what is there first question ?

The answer is "better than Sky Digital, not quite as good as MySky HD". The convencience of being able to watch every game live and catch up on any game missed far outweights the slight quality downgrade for me.

nope
1. Have I got extra time to watch matches?
2. Do I have $127-150 to get these extra matches?

(For those of you spending $70 per month on sky, can you afford effectively an extra $10-13 a month for the ability to watch any matches you care to, at a time of your choosing)

The fact that four premier teams are going to have their matches on SKY will be a deal breaker for many as well.

No one asks your number 1. Fact.
I'll accept my question to be relegated to number two, with the first being price.
Quality streaming is very important for the majority.

Two extra games of footy per week to watch (at least) = 4 hours effectively.

It's not going to be during the week unless it's in the evening (possible but not always)

So it will need to be during the weekend - but Sunday's are mostly busy until mid afternoon for a while (which is why I am posting on here instead of writing my team's match report), but then have to get things ready for the coming week later.

Oh and the lawns haven't been mown for a while either and they need doing.

That's my life, what about yours?

Before television I did nothing (except that thing you do when you kick a ball around with mates or go off into the woods and see if you can kill small animals with catapults).

Jeez.  I can't believe I'm "dialoguing" with the YF troll-meister.

Two teams - hint #1: look at my signature. Hint #2: Two interdenominational places of worship - White Hart Lane and St James Park

I think maybe three Spurs games last season and 2 or 3 CSL games last season (nothing this current season). Plus all the Nix away games. and an occasional other A-League game if I need my fix of Harps and Slater.  All via dodgy streams that aren't always there the following week.

Yeah for sure. Good move by sky. Though I'm very sure coliseum would have anticipated such a move. Sommet sports had already done the same thing before sky did.

No. I'm saying that watching them live is not ideal and hence is seldom done. The ability to watch on demand is very helpful, but it means that I now have some incentive to try and watch two games  per round/week if I'm paying for it. But finding time to watch them will be testing.

I watch games through streams when I am feeling particularly masochistic or insomniac-like.  The A-League games are at a more NZ friendly time so do-able.

So for me the questions are:

1. Would I have time to watch two extra games per week?

2. Can I afford the extra cost for what is a luxury?

How about you?

Breaks down to be about $4 a week doesn't it?
I'm going to share a log in with the old man (if that's possible - someone tell me if it's not? obviously not living in same house and using two diff macs). He always liked to get up at 7am at his place and I was quite happy staying up till 2am to watch the EPL

Last season I watched all NUFC games. Live if I could which was over half of them. Obviously NUFC will not be on SKY or freeview (well, only 5min highlights on tvone) so I either find "dodgy streams" or get the PLP (I'm with telecom so a bit cheaper).

That is where I am at. I will wait for the iOS app and also the 13th of August because I might win a free PLP.

I am also keen on being able to watch the big games/last day of the season live.

What's the deal with On demand games?

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

You could watch a on demand game once then you no longer have access to it. does it let start watching a game, then resume watching it later? What if your internet cuts out/or lags out while watching and then it thinks you've watched the match and wont let you watch it again?

Don't get me wrong.  The price for a season of however many games you can cram in is excellent value.

But $127 up front is a bit of a challenge (especially at this time of year). I will/have allowed for Nix season passes and the upcoming AW game, but the Coliseum deal was a bit of a surprise bonus.  So much so that it isn't actually on my list of must haves.

250 can be viewed multiple games. The rest can be viewed once - live or on demand.

According to their FAQs

I had also thought about the internet cutting out and then trying to watch the match again.

That's a good plan. However for 130 of the games you can only watch them once. So you'll run into problems there unfortunately.

Ubbergunner and J82 good point. Anyone asked them about this? Hopefully they have some sort of way round that, would be incredibly annoying if that happened. Would be good if you could watch them twice instead of just once I reckon. Will still never understand why they can only show 250 multiple times. They gave the reason that EPL wants fair spread of games, but surely all games is just as even as 25 games per team.

Very true. We'll just co-ordinate around that I guess.

over 12 years ago · edited over 12 years ago · History

I have the same problem. So am planning on trying some sort of screen recording software that the first person who watches just sets up and saves the game for the 2nd person to watch. Unsure about how exactly to do this, but will let you know if I manage to figure it out/find some decent easy to use (and free) software.

Otherwise yeah we'll just have to coordinate watching those games at the same time.

General comment.

It's amazing what a little bit of competition can do. Last year, people could watch 4-5 games usually consisting of the top 6 teams.  Now this year, there are all sorts of packages available that will suit different people depending of their viewing preferences (teams watched, live/delayed). And that....is a great thing.

I heard an interview the head of SKY Sport did with D'arcy on RS during the week. He gave the example of the Man City packages they'll be showing. He said they will have a 10-15 build up, the game, and then an hour after which will likely consist of 2nd team action and youth teams (half an hour) and then behind the scenes type stuff (half an hour)...

I don't know where this information came from - as far as i can remember every game was on SKY last year, not very many live mind you but at some point, could have been 5pm on Sunday for example the game was played.

Not trying to say that was better than what we have now but i have seen several comments about how SKY didn't show every game and i think that they did for most rounds.
