Can anyone explain why multi-billionaires don't find Everton an attractive buying option. They have a huge, loyal fan base (domestic and international), impressive history, the best manager in the EPL, a decent squad to build on, proven academy that produces fantastic players and a decent recent history with very little investment. For some reason West Ham, Man City, Hull City, Portsmouth, Fulham etc all seem more attractive. Three of these teams have been relegated recently. WTF, does BK want too much for the club or is he detracting potential buyers so he can keep the club he dearly loves.
A stadium you can't expand on is a deal stopper. if someone walked in today with real money to buy us B.K would sell and leave tomorrow he said so in that meeting with the blues co-op or whatever they were called. but, the two people who claimed to have an interest in buying us turned out to be an unemployed man from Manchester and some other nob without enough funds for the bus fare home.there's got to be a lot more to it than B.K holding out for the right money

The issue of a new stadium is the fly in any prospective takeover ointment: Goodison is a great old ground that is seriously run down, and a new owner would need to stump up big time. All in all,it's squeaky bum time...

Yeah, I think Goodison has served its time. Been there 3 times and loved it but it really is a run down, old stadium. I don't know why we can't renovate it as the capacity will go up by about 10-15 percent (to about 40K) which is enough I think. It may just be a timing thing as you'd need about 12 months to do it and where do we play in that time.

Its no longer a problem.

Phew, 3-1 of The Blades. OG, Arteta and Anechibe scoring. It was only against a League 1 team but a win is a win. Hopefully the rumours about Jag and Arteta going to the arse are false. We need these players to build a decent season.

Its no longer a problem.

New third kit revealed. Back to grey again I was hoping for another cream one like last season. Looks like a three-peat of shirt fails this season. I'll wait until June to get them this season. Normally on 20 quid by then.

Becks to Leicester, the yak to Blackburn maybe and Arteta to the farking Arse. so we get an Argentinean i admit know nothing about so can't comment and maybe Drenthe on loan for the season  and thing with Arteta is i'm sort of 50/50 about it it's just we now have no creativity at all (except for Leighton Baines) but he has been poor since coming back from his knee injury and hasn't really been the same of late anyway still 4 1/2 hours for more of our 1st IX leave to...

Not too pissed off overall. Arteta has been average since he came back from his knee bork. New blood could do us some good. Yak never really impressed but I think Beckford could have been good.

My heart is really disapointed that Areta left, he has been one of my favourite players over the years. My head tells me that it is good business for us, especially as we need the cash. 10mil for a 29 year old is a good deal. He was also apparently on 75k pounds a week so that is almost 2 players worth of wages. The only bad thing is that we dont have another proper playmaker due to the lateness of the deal- the most creative player we have now is probably Osman.

Yak leaving is a good deal as he had a big wages and wasn't getting much game time.

Beckford would have been worth keeping as a rotation striker but I can understand us selling him with our need for cash.

Drenthe I'm not sure about. I've heard average things of his times at Madrid but he must have been good to get there in the first place. He has good pace so could be a Coleman on the left wing. He wont start ahead of Baines (at LB) so a proper left sided midfielder is what we needed for a long time. Also he is on loan so if he is rubbish we can get rid of him.

The Argentinean striker looks promising. Top scorer in the Argentina league at only 23. His scoring record looks very good over the past seasons. The only question will be if he can adapt to the premier league which has been a problem for some South Americans

Yeah, I'd agree that the Arteta transfer was probably good business even if Moyes didn't want to get rid of him.  He was about the best player in the league for a 3 month stretch about 1.5 years ago but has never really recovered from his injury and has looked down on work rate etc.

Would have liked slightly more for the Yak given what he cost us but like said above, having his wages off the books is good.  Between Arteta & Yak, wages would have been about 6 mil a year (75k and 40k? approx) which is reportedly what we are hemorrhaging so that should keep the banks happy for a while.

Bit disappointed with Beckfords move as I thought he deserved another season to show us what hes got, but I guess well have to trust Moyes on that one.

As for the new boys, I cant say Ive heard much of them.  Hopefully they can bring some imputes into the squad for the rest of the season.

Drenthe never really fulfilled his promise at Madrid. Not really good enough as a left-back- much too attacking and his defending was, at times, woeful. But he was hardly helped by the changing of manager every three months. Still think he could be a good signing for you, with a run of games under his belt etc, but really only if you do play him at left mid.

Was boss at the Euro U-21's (?) a few years ago though. He was a bit of a dick around there because he was believing his own hype a bit, but you'll love to know he had a bit of a scuffle in a friendly with Gerrard, Mascherano and Agger just before he signed for Madrid

Glad the Yak has gone, and 10 mil for Arteta is good business I suppose(perhaps a sign that Moysie has faith in Barkley's development, although he'll still be nursed along).Very disappointed to lose Beckford:thought he was coming to grips with Premiership football, and that end of season goal against Chelsea was a cracker.I don't think Moyes really rated him though:left him on the bench a lot,and started Anichebe, who in my opinion,is a total donkey:a poor man's Heskey.I watched Drenthe at the u21 finals 4-5 years ago,and although talented,I thought he was very overrated:his subsequent career has been a non-event really:still,I hope I'm proved wrong...

Mine would be, however I don't think we will see 2 up front from Moyes this season

Howard

Coleman, Jags, Heitinga, Baines

Osman,Fellaini, Rodwell ,Drenthe

Saha, Stracqualursi/ Anichebe

Edit: Also it appears we were negotiating with Arse about Arteta after the Blackburn game Everton FC2011-09-04 21:44:36

Having never seen Strac play I'm unsure but would agree with you mostly. The front 1/2/3 has been an Everton issue for may years. I'd have Baxter playing just behind Saha and Strac with three in the mid field. Not sure who to drop though. Baines and Drenthe down one side makes me smile a lot. Maybe even tempted to push Coleman on to midfield and have Neville/Hibbert at fullback. So on reflection I'd go for

Howard (best keeper in the Prem league)

Neville, Jags, Heitinga, Baines

Coleman, Fellaini, Drenthe,

Baxter

Saha, Strac

Bench of Mucha (is he still there), Cahill, Distin, Rodwell, Osman/Anichebe, Hibbert

Assuming not too may injuries that is a decent squad. Hard on Osman but we do have a decent crop of central midfielders which is another reason I'm not that disappointed to see Arteta go.Toffeeman2011-09-05 08:41:11

Two up front your having a laugh ain't ya moyes would never go for that and Baxter needs some more bulk on him for first team footy he'll get eaten by Samba or Vidic

                                Howard
                  Neville,Jags,Distin,Baines
             Osman,Rodwell,Felli,Drenthe
                            Cahill
                                     Strac

Subs: Mucha,Heitinga,Coleman,Anichebe,Barkley,Bily,Saha

Drenthe is good value man, I rate him and would have enjoyed him on loan with us.

For me it would be:

Howard

Neville,  Jags,  Distin,  Baines

Coleman,  Osman, Fellaini, Drenthe

Cahill

Saha

Can't believe people prefer Heitenga to Distin -  he was a rock last year.

Given Coleman's injury - Rodwell into centre, Osman out wide right.

So we only have one senior striker, Saha fit atm with Apocalypse, Baxter and Stracqualarsi.

.....Saha.....
....Cahill....

For the next 3 months, YAY!
