Curbishley, Venables and Hughes have said "Thanks but no thanks"!
We would have to pay Bolton a million quid for Megson's contract because he is on the same "gardening leave" as Phil Brown and is being paid for another year yet, so he is out.
Peter Taylor, O'Leary and Jewell are way down the pecking order whilst Shearer, Coppell and Keegan have stated that they have not been approached.
Looks like Dowie, but remember, this is for a 9 week tenure and is not full time even if we stay up as there is a million quid bonus if we do.

Well, it's official, it's Dowie and he has brought his own team with him so Horton has gone too!

sad to see Horton go, but that's the way it had to be i guess

Not good :-( 2-1 up with 3 to go and lost 2-3 to a side all but relegated. Survival in VERY unlikely now.

Its no longer a problem.

yeh, i had a bash at reading that last night, went into a coma about half way through

the numbers that will probably make the difference will be those on the right-hand side of the league table in early/mid May

aarrghh

despite calls to keep the faith , it worries me that if we don't pick up a win at any of Stoke, Brum, Wigan it will be our first season in 106 years win-less on the road

i think Stoke will be a point and wigan (perhaps) a win, can't see Birmingham giving us owt

edit - to be honest I'm just a gibbering wreck and will take any point anywhere any-time and hope it ends up being enough to scrape survival

I took another hit from the wrecking-ball this morning and the volume of gibbering is increasing by the day

C'mon Everton - I could do with a hint of hope (but I'm not sure if I can continue to depend on West ham or Wigan to fail)

can't see us getting anything from Villa (h) Brum (a) Perennial strugglers Liverpool (h)

but might pick up points v Burnley (h) Sunderland (h) (they are 1-4-11 away from SoL and Wigan (away)

7 points (if we get them) would see us on 34 and that looks like it would have only been enough in 2 of the last 10 seasons

so, realistically it's a looking a bit unlikely

unless of course West Ham or Wigan have a meltdown and/or we beat a team I used to like at home on the last day

this is all a bit ugly

Hate to say it but If we don't beat Burnley i'm not sure we deserve to be in the EPL :S

We are gone!
Looked good early when we went up 1-0 but the old familiar 'same old, same old' came back to haunt us as Jozy fought through brilliantly and did his usual 'can't finish to save my life' routine and the writing was on the wall.
The perpetual defensive mistake and the two penalties said it all and then the last second free kick.
Our failure is that we simply have absolutely nothing in the final third of the pitch.
Anyone who still thinks Bernard Mendy is a football player should go and see their Doctor as there is something very wrong with them.
Jozy Altidore shows some promise but his skills are negated by the fact that he has great difficulty 'turning' a player and constantly tries to just run through them which is why he pulls so many fouls. I wish the lad well but I cannot see him having a future in the EPL.
With Stephen injured and Jimmy a shadow of his former self we will find it hard to offload some of these players who are on obscene wages during the close season.
I can see Garcia coming back to the A-League and others given away.
Administration is rearing it's ugly head.

weekend away - only partially ruined - thankfully James Taylor is fairly ruin proof and this was just one of many tragedies this season so it shares it's misery with many other such days

Gardner due back for last four games but agree OzTiger without Hunt we lack energy up front

oh well at least i wasalive for 2 Prem seasons - and there is a 285-1* chance we might pull off a miracle

*my odds - not sure what anyone else is offering

Hunt out for the rest of the season (hasn't played since feb)

after a few wines and beers, I'll voice the hope that we get a point (or more) overnight to keep the faint, faint hope of survival alive

a point, but it really doesn't feel like enough with the way things are

dam, at least a point would have been ideal, need to win all three from here I'd say

GONE.

How about Kevin Kilbane though.
He can't pass, can't dribble, can't head, can't tackle and can't shoot yet he has made a lucrative living out of football for the past 15 years and managed to obtain 103 caps for his native Ireland.
The mind absolutely boggles!

He must have some skill then. You don't win 100+ international caps for a half decent footballing nation without doing something right.

Maybe he's just sh*t for you lot because the rest of the team is f**king gash and he can't be bothered.

Three for me, and two for them.

I queried his caps and was told that there isn't anyone else!
Permalink Permalink
almost 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I don't believe that. If he was that bad after 20-30 caps the manager would simply change formation to keep him out.

Three for me, and two for them.

They tend to be a little bit different, the Irish, we know because we've got anothere three of them in the shape of Stephen Hunt (injured and been out for most of the season), Caleb Folan (injured again and does a commendable impersonation of a Swiss Army Knife when he runs - hence the nickname 'Wrong-way") and Paul McShane, a player I personally have much time for but most of the fans think he's the pits.

well it was 2 years to remember and I'm glad my dad got to see them in the Prem (and there's always a chance he'll see them there again - but it's obvious we are in the cart financially and I might be a severely old guy before we make it back up)

thanks to the Nix fans who have shared the 2 years

The Fat Lady is warbling her guts out whilst the tears of our loyal fans are being shed.
Now we have to see who we can get rid of.
Ain't going to be easy as we have few saleable players.
Permalink Permalink
almost 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
i think there are a few that other clubs will want

but we won't get much for them especially as other club's know we are desperate to get rid off the high earners

and yeh,I'm worried that there are some players that will not get their current wages met by other clubs and so will not move

You are not wrong.
Reports say that Phil Brown will be invited back to fulfill his contract as we won't be paying two managers wages.
Hunt's foot is now a major problem.
Jimmy is a shadow of his former self.
We will have a huge problem clearing the decks.

of course the players other clubs will want - Moyukolo, Cairney will be more use to use over the longer term than the ones we might be stuck with on huge wages

hopefully now they've started to talk to the surgeons we might get a recovery plan for Hunt
