Maybe you should go for the Newcastle job, HN.

Unlike many of the younger supporters of A-League sides I don't believe that an ability to win something in Football Manager makes me qualified to take a decent side, let alone one like Newcastle.

Still Allan Shearer could well get the job and I'm not sure he's even played FM.

Yeah, the "why don't we play Coveny at fullback" scenario

I think Shearer would be a lunatic to take the job, especially with his lack of experience. He'd have a lot to lose if/when it all turned to sh*t.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Rumour is that Ifil was 600k but that seems high for ColU. Coyne was 450k. BUT only rumour no hard facts yet.

Coyne is a rising solid strong defender. Ifil is a tricky style attacking full back with some premiership experience - he played in the pre Joll era.

The Rochdale game was in Feb 1972 just before the famous 3-2 win over Leeds. (Yes you can work out how old and past it I am!).

ColU credible draw at Bristol City plus third new signing (Fox from Walsall - a third new defender).

It would be good if both ColU and Vale could get out of trouble.

More defenders, fantastic!

I would've been delighted with a win but no complaints about the draw. Lisbie again wasn't it? Good to see hes hit some goal scoring form. Hopefully that combined with the new defenders means we can get out of trouble. We deserve a bit of luck!

ColU home to SheffU on Saturday. Must win game. We have had a good record against them in recent years.

Who do Vale have this week?

Vale are away at Swansea on Saturday, currently the leaders of the fizzy pops...

But with a new defence there's hope.

Good luck to Vale this week. Any new players for your side??

Hope to all hell Okochas still off form for you guys tigers! Otherwise I don't fancy our chances.

Swansea got beaten quite soundly by Havant and Waterlooville, 83 places below them in the league, so that'd be a bit of a kick to their old confidence. Good luck Vale!

He's hardly featured at all WillyB, except occasionally off the bench, city are (like most teams  i guess) pretty inconsistent so i'm taking nothing for granted

it adds a little bit of spice knowing that our next match is against a fellow YF members team

Disappointed that Okocha hasn't been a success for you, I'm sure if he was 100% commited he could've lit up the championship.

Oh its going to be a classic for sure!

I see Wayne Brown is looking forward to putting one over his old club.. Brown is quoted as saying that Col U are struggling because they lost Cureton, Iwelumo and Garcia and therefore 50 goals a season. Could be right! But Lisbie has been better of late so here is hoping!

Hull is the sort of team Col U need to beat - mid table but inconsistent. I really don't want us to lose this and allow a gap to open up. Comon Hull give us a break!

The Championship is incredibly tight and if the bottom teams go on a run large numbers above could be pulled into trouble.

Coyne and Ifil are making their home debuts so that might be a lift.

Hang on OrpeW and WillyB, the Tigers have been giving teams a break for the last 100 and odd years, must be your turn to be kind

As you say Mr Brown will be focused as will Garcia

you are right though, it's a tight league (like a big version of the A-League)

Agree with both of you. We need to keep the pressure on, beating the sides we do beat. Its a very entertaining league with how tight and competitive it is and I only wish I could watch it here!

Its OK for you now that QPR have money (all our best ex loan players) and are moving up the table!

I am confident we will be out of the bottom three before long.

ColU excel off the pitch as a leading community club and with fantastic administration. Our new stadium is well advanced. So we need and deserve to stay up!

This Sat is the game of death versus Preston. This is so "have to win" its unreal.

Sorry, back from my forays in Japan. All ready to defend Colchesters proud name once again!

All hoping for a clear victory against Preston I hope! Kevin Lisbies now into double figures in the league with 10 goals, only 6 goals off Philips at the top of the league scorers! 2 successive hat tricks is what I'm envisaging...

Great to see this strugglers thread's back on page one again. It's been a good read.

Hope ColU gets up over Preston tonight and starts to climb out of the relegation zone. Same wishes for the Valiants! If they get one over Hartlepool they'll likely jump over Bournmouth who're set to fall against promotion bound Doncaster.

And, I'm off to see a Championship game this weekend. Charlton vs. Watford which should be a ripper of game. Charlton off the back of a 2-0 win over arch rivals Palace (after losing to ColU) and Watford sitting higher up in the table.

If this is a struggler's thread, does that mean I can post stuff about Partick Thistle in here?

Even though:    a) they aint English
and  b) nobody but me will give a toss

We've just equalised in the 83rd minute of our Scottish Cup replay. Ah, the joys of extra-time when you're watching a page which updates evry two minutes. Torture.

Right, I'll bugger off now and let you get back to it.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Very stressful, this extra time carry-on.

Seriously, I won't be polluting this thread with news of my beloved Thistle, it was just when I saw the word 'strugglers'........

to keep in willieB's good books, i will note that Okocha played well for us today and i think he might have played all - certainly most - of the match

Stoked about the win against Preston, why wasn't Lisbie playing though Orpewise? Suspended or injured?
