i reckon liverpool are dodgy at the back. Skrtel is flaky and has no control of what he's doing, hyypia has no idea what goal he is attacking and which he is defending, carragher is slow, mascherano is temperamental, at least our goalkeeper has hair to dye and doesnt look 60 when he is only 25, torres and gerrard are both diving prone, and pennant has spent half of his life in jail, (not good enough for arsenal, but liverpool pick up the scraps).
you see how that works two ways?

The fact of the matter is that Liverpool have the upper hand going into the second leg. Arsenal had most of the play yes but they didn't take their chances and now face a tough challenge at Anfield. Skrtel has been immense since his signing and has only been in the English game for 4 months and looks to be a much better signing than Vidic is for manure, Carragher is slow but he is born and bred Liverpool and wouldnt even think about going to another club unlike anyone in the Arse team. Reina is the goal keep who has managed 100 clean sheets faster than any gk in Liverpool history. Pennant is Arse scraps but Bentley is as well and now he is one of the most sought after English players , Torres is a diver but no worse than Van Persie and has scored double what he has this season AND at least he plays more than 3 games in a row!......AND  Dirk Kuyt is one of the ugliest people i have ever seen........and thats it!

Skrtel better than Vidic? I don't think so lad.

Three for me, and two for them.

Not yet anyway...Keep watching him though, he has only been here four months!I was thinking after these 'discussions' with  Gooner fans, who would you rather have in your team. Gerrard or Fabregas?

good point at Emirates

nice finish by Crouch, good to see finan get 90 mins, Plessis looks like one to hang on to

what was Voronin doing??

Fabregas. Hands down.

Three for me, and two for them.

Good point alright, and well deserved. Nice to see Crouch bag one, thought Carra was a standout at the back and that Plisses looked promising.

Agreeded about Voronin, the guy seems to be the polar opposite of the player he was a the start of teh season.

Bummed that the draw might pave the way for theScum to take out the title again, but not a lot you can do about that really...

The scene's set for the deciding Champions League match. If we can hold 'em to back to back draws at the Emirates I don't think we'll have any probs wrapping it up at home...

as you say MP, good to pick up two draws at their ground,

I think Rafa has the edge tactically at the moment

although I'm not quite as relaxed as you, I think we might run into some 'problems' but we will hopefully overcome them

despite the criticism of the earlier rotation, Liverpool's players looked more comfortable with each other than Arsenal's even though we had made more changes - having more players rested should help

and Arsenal might have Man U in their back of their minds on Wednesday morning (but i wonder if we killed them off too early , because if they still had a realistic chance of the title that would make it even more difficult for them to have a 100% focus on the UCL)
Permalink Permalink

All energy will now be focussed on the UCL, which should make Wednesday's game a very interesting one.

yep Arsenal, a crucial match for both teams now

Crouch played well. It will be a shame if he leaves in the summer, i reckon we should play two up front. A torres Crouch combination would be great and rafa hasn't given it a go. Plessis was pretty good on debut. arse looked way better when Hleb came on but I hope that there midfield are tired for Wednesday

From the LFC website...

"On the prospect of Crouch signing a new contract, the Anfield boss said: "He is a very good professional, that's why we've offered him a new contract. I have confidence. I know he is happy here but I also know he wants to play. We have offered the contract and now we need to wait."

Furt

But Crouch intimated his future could well lay elsewhere, saying: "I would love to stay, it is a fantastic club and I love everything about it, but I have got to be realistic.

"If I want to have any aspirations of playing for England, or furthering my career, then I have to be playing - and that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment."her from the same interview.

So, showdown at Anfield for Champions League survival tomorrow.

Like others have pointed out, the Arse have slim hopes of catching up in the Prem, and this may be the only attainable silverware left for them to chase.

I've got a feeling that tomorrows match is going to be a classic. Hopefully the boys in Red will come out on top.

Fingers crossed, COME ON LADS!

i woud be very surprised if Crouch doesnt get a game tomorrow. i've always rated him and was not at all surprised with the way he played against arsenal.

voronin is hopeless, and kuyt was a good right back for you guys in the first leg so crouch should get a spot alongside torres.  if not i think you can probably say goodbye to him..

Yeah I agree voronin has been a waste of time. Rafa loves Kuyt so I don't think he will go although I wouldn't care either way. Cmon you reds, another Europe cup would be fantastic!!!

Actually, I'd start Crouch upfront instead of Torres.

Can't see Rafa tinkering much with the side that started the first leg...

Reina
Carragher-Skrtel-Hyypia-Aurelio
Mascherano-Xabi Alonso
Babel-Gerrard-Kuyt
Torres

The good news:
Liverpool have won their last three home CL matches, scoring 14 goals in the process.

The bad news:
If either gets a yellow card tomorrow, Gerrard and Carragher will miss the next match should Liverpool go through....

Mascherano to keep Fabregas on a leash, Torres to get behind Gallas, keep them out at set pieces (fingers crossed - job done)

re cards do they get wiped after this game, or will that threat be hanging over Gerrard and Carra for the rest of the tournament?? edit - just found the answer (so much for my wishful thinking)

21.02 In case of repeated cautions, a player is suspended for the next competition match:......

.....b) from the first match in the group stage, after three cautions in three different matches, as well as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.).

21.03 Single yellow cards and pending suspensions are always carried forward either to the next stage of the competition or to another club competition in the current season.

I'd rather see either of them miss the first leg of a semi than the second leg or the final

of the two carra has a more clear replacement available in Finnan

should be a fairly tense affair tomorrow

Damn, what a first half! Arse were running rings around us for the first 20 or so, but after Hyypias' goal we started bringing the game back at 'em.

Gave 'em to much time on the ball and let ourselves down with phases of quite poor passing/giving the ball away easily.

Rafa should sort that sh!t out in the sheds. Games gearing for a ripper 2nd half...

COME ON RED!!!!

Great game. the better side won. Congratulations. You do realise you have an obligation to prevent Chelsea from getting to the final.

YES!!

well the last 25 mins was a bit of a roller coaster

Rafa -

great finish by torres, great step up after that early concession,

we almost paid for pushing up at 2-1, walcott did well but that and the pen decision are all history now

and once again it is Liverpool FC who are making history!

Well if anyone sees Toure in the next week or so just kick that prick in the nuts, asshole!

Great win red, just win the bloody thing now!

Also Gunner fan's, how good was Walcott's stretch of the legs? Stunning I though, RVP failed to make an impact again!!!
