Rafa's never been a big fan of the League or FA cups. He always seems to put out second string sides for them even against the big boys.

Arsenal, how do you find those links? (good quality video too, unlike that Youtube crap)

Answer my question first, then on your way

Rafa's doing ok, as far as I'm concerned, the Carling cup is not a competition I'm particularly bothered about

was only chance for silverware??? your thoughts on rotation policy?

still in for the treble

seriously though, both the fa cup and champs league cant' be discounted - Rafa's record in the latter is the equal of any manager this decade (from memory)

I'd regard the FA cup as small achievement but I'd take it if necessary

the league, longish shot but hell there's a long way to go

regarding rotation - it worries me on occasions (mainly when Gerrard and Torres aren't selected) but I
do have faith in Rafa's ability to manage 2-3 comps at the same time

i just hope the Yanks  a) leave Rafa alone, or B) open their wallets for him

NICE SUB, don't  know why he just didn't put up a white flag and go back to the Liverpool at that point, hope Stevie is over his bug by the weekend, you need him  !!!

crouchs tackle deserved to be sent off, maybe it was his frustration of not being played showing, or just a reaction to mikel, the dirty bastard. him and torres should start all home games, i feel that when kuyt plays it is like having a midfielder up front...u want strikers to score goals, which is what torres and crouch do best.

also good to see alonso looking reasonbly sharp, will this mean gerrard to be pushed out to the right with mash and alonso in the middle??

Got my wish, Inter Milan. Bring on February.

Pompey this week, tough test even at home.

Looking at our options its all looking like we are playing a 'big team', Sevilla being the least established of the lot.

I want to get Internazionale, haven't played them recently and have a mate who supports them.

Inter will be hard, they look strong at the moment.

Agree about Pompey, they look great, pity we couldn't have got them in a few weeks when they have about 5 away at the african nations cup.

makes sense Linds - I was just wondering,

there are few easy match ups at this stage (though winning the group might have helped )

re Pompey, if we are to hold any hopes of generating a title challenge this is where we need to start

Good victory, much easier than I thought. Torres sharp again. Benayoun was awesome in first half. Kewell looked good, especially since he was so horrible in the last Prem League outing.

As for Inter, I think they're over-rated, there isn't lots of quality in their squad I mean Zlatan and Vieira are really only world class in their team (Vieira coming back from injury). Maxwell, Maicon are first team starters, Figo and Cesar are in the rotation. Samuel and Cordoba, both have obvious weaknesses. Not saying they are rubbish, but I'd rather play them than Milan/Barca/Real, they still a very good team.

a great first half from Liverpool, movement, width, possession, effective changes of tempo

2nd half Pompey seemed to switch to a more effective short passing game through midfield, and i felt we were a bit over ambitious with some of our long passing attempts and ended up handing back the ball to them

Torres took his chances wonderfully, and certainly in the first half we put together some excellent passing moves

a good win to settle the ship

This result is misleading. I did not think either side were good today. Portsmouth well off their recent game. Torres looked good but many others were really only around 80% effective today. Passing was often not quite on song. Still winning 4-1 when you dont play well isnt to be sniffed at!!

I wouldn't say that we played bad we had the game won after 16min we were in total control. It was really up to Portsmounth to chase the game. It was good to see that when pompey did score we just up the tempo and made sure of the win. Mascherano was awsome and Torres is real class.

Bring on Derby just hope Rafa doesn't change the team around to much.

Agree with Mascherano was a monster. Also with statement score misleading, we turned it on when need be, but were cruising.

Got the win today, dramatic last minute winner by Stevie. Not a good win but an away win and the points. Gained on Arsenal and Chelsea too. Torres with another goal.

City up next should be a tough one.
