Liverpool Thread - Premier League Champions* 2019/20 (Part 2)
Here is a list of LFC rumours from the usual source. I trust these guys as they are not LFC fans, simply work in the football industry and seem to know what is going on Europe wide as well as deep understanding of the transfer, agents and FFP systems.
This is a cut and paste job so punctuation, context and spelling is the authors own. Some of the info appears old as the author copies and pastes old updates and just adds new info where he/she needs to.
GK: Bogdan and Marshall have attracted confirmed recent attention and are viable replacements for Jones. Discussinons have been held with Bogdan but Cardiff, who are aware in interest from Liverpool in Marshall, say that they have yet to be approached. Thoughts seem to have moved on completely from Patricio, Ochoa, Neto (won't happen), Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ryan and Ruddy right now. The club have also looked at others including Mattia Perin - who is financial beyond Liverpool.
RB: Wisdom will return and there is aa new deal for Flanagan and Toure. But if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club may look for a new RB - I don't see this as a proiority. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Danilo was looked at but certainly won't happen. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.
LB: Sam Byram has been watched - a move to Liverpool seems unlikely. Hard again to see LB as a priority, particularly with the system being played.
CB: A new deal has been given to Toure. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).
MF: Milner will be joining come July. Even though he has very recently extended his contract, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic (at the right price)and have spoken with Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Hertha Berlin - the Liverpool offer would need to be doubled to give any sort of chance of a deal. Inter did say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible and will make another player available. However, Barcelona will return with their convoluted offer for him. If Liverpool want to do something it will take a significant increase on their previous offer. I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool were very keen on Lars Stindl but he has decided to reject the interest of Liverpool and will move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer. Khedira (won't happen), Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez (interest seems to have gone). Filipe Anderson has been watched but nothing will happen with Liverpool.
F/W:Right now it is something like this for the players that I understand have been looked at:
Mandzukic - Someone representing Liverpool has approached his agent, but as of this time, not Atletico.
Ings - every chance this will go through.
Benteke - interest has returned.
Ntep - Stade Rennais' Paul Georges Ntep has been watched.
Vietto - talking to Atletico Madrid regarding replacing Griezmann and was hoping on Real Madrid turning to him - has made it clear he wants a move to Atletico - and this has made Real Madrid look elsewhere.
Heung Min Son - I suspect it would be very difficult to make happen as he seems very happy where he is and will be playing in the Champions League.
Carlos Vela - looked at recently but nothing more.
Aubameyang - looked at and there may be interest from Liverpool - he is keen on a move to Italy but the most interested side, Juventus, are now out of the running.
Gameiro - his stock is on the rise but Liverpool have had no recent contact (according to a representative of another interested club).
Baez - Liverpool have recently been told to say if they are still interested in Baez or not - and if they are to make an offer which is much improved over that offered to Juventud previously - I understand that there has been no response and Juventud are now in talks with another side regarding a transfer - this is probably one to forget now.
Kishna - all English interest has gone or never materialised according to De Boer.
Lacazette - another English side met with Lyon about Lacazette and a number of other issues on April 9 and any move this summer, particularly to England, is not viable right now although interest remains from elsewhere - Aulas has mocked rumours that Liverpool could buy the player.
Firmino - he will most probably move with a number of clubs having made formal approaches, and Manchester City, Inter and another side having had formal discussions with Hoffenheim.
Depay - moving elsewhere.
Bakkali - interest will have gone.
Andre Ayew - a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - looks to be heading elsewhere.
Walcott - if Sterling were to leave then a move for Walcott may be considered.
Cheryshev - if Sterling were to leave then a move for Cheryshev may be considered
I would not be surprised if Liverpool looked at Higuain if he became available at the right price. Jese may well be available either with a buy back option from Real Madrid or possibly on loan - perhaps he could be considered?
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
No idea, that's not really mentioned but I have my own conspiracy theory about that...
I think FSG are still considering Rodgers vs Klopp. All of a sudden, one of Klopp's mates has come out saying that he wants to be coaching in the UK and would be keen on the Man United job if it ever came up which to me sound like someone trying to force Liverpool's hand.
I don't buy into the sabbatical thing but if it's true, it could work out for us.
1 - Rodgers gets it right and by January we're challenging and playing well.
2 - He gets it wrong, he's sacked and Klopp comes in then after 6 months off.
There are no big jobs available at the moment so unless a huge job comes up (United, Arsenal, City, Barca, Real, Juve etc. I don't see Klopp being in a rush)
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
So Milner and now Ings set to join 1st of July (pending medical)...still not the signings we'd like.
If Sturridge is fit, Ings may do ok but he's not a #1 striker for a team who wants to be pushing for trophies and champs league.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
Will see if I can use this to keep things updated with latest rumours/confirmations.
Have deleted some of the guff...

A few rumours and updates. Not from an ITK, just trawling through some pages...
- CFC has entered the race to sign Sterling but is unlikely to match our valuation. City expected to return with a 40m bid.
- Fee for Kovacic has been agreed, now it's down to agreeing terms which may prove difficult.
- Tevez to LFC would cost 15m (can't see it happening, he wanted away from PL so bad previously)
- A new bid for Clyne is being prepared
- Mario is set to go out on loan to Sampdoria.
- Ibrahimovic is on the LFC radar and we could get him for 12m
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
I think Mario to Sampdoria will only go ahead if we pay part of his wages which apparently we won't do. I won't be surprised if he ends up staying purely because it's hard to get rid of him.
Zlatan is linked I think, due to a comment he made about UCL not being hugely important to him, but I believe he was angling more towards a possible Milan return. Doesn't seem Rodgers' style at all but would score a few absolute screamers!
I wanted Tevez to replace Suarez, would've paid pretty much anything. Work rate, goal hunger, scoring record. All things we didn't have last season up front.
Really can't make my mind up about Sterling.
hey guys, we're trying to do a member drive for LFC Wellington.
If you live in Wellington can you please give this link a read:

Thanks

Hey lads!!
Well Rodgers is still here....sigh.
How much do you think City will pay for Sterling? I hope if they come back with a third offer, we sell.
Initial was 25m I think, recent one is 35m + 5m in add-ons...if they come back improved, take it.
They want rid of Dzeko so not sure why we don't say $35m + Dzeko and see what they say.

City are after everyone.

City need 5x homegrown players for their squad this season. You would think they'll be chasing homegrown players exclusively.
I guess that is why we are holding out for more cash. They need our 'product' more than we need their attention. With the cash they have, they may as well buy 5 League 2 players, give them $2k each a week and let them ride the pine and be in the training squad.
With Lampard, Milner and Richards gone and Sinclair likely to go as well, that's 4 homegrown lost in one season.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
5 spots to fill for them. Milner, Lampard, Dedryck Boyata, John Guidetti and Scott Sinclair moved on. Will be quite interesting to see how this plays out! As for Sterling..... I think he'll probably move to City but FSG know they have all the leverage so will try to squeeze every possible penny out of them.
What are you chaps' thoughts on Dzeko? Keen if possible?

yep boyata and guidetti gone too
remember max squad size is 25, so they cant have too many pine riders - they were already doing that last season with a couple of players.
I'd imagine they'll bring in 2, maybe 3 max development players or some such, but they'll still need at least 2 quality homegrown players.
Ball in your court on Sterling big time, good place to be.
Reckon we won't sell Wilshere at all.

lol sorry i pretty much repeated what you said

All good, I am pretty awesome ;)
Dzeko seems to have a Ballotelli esque attitude. No proof just a vibe!!
Haha if you say it on a forum, it must be true! Regardless, I think he is on big money which is why he hasn't left before.
Borini's agent has come out and said he wants out as he feels he hasn't been getting enough game time. Feels like "a lion in a cage" apparently. If he's a lion, the Serengeti is far less dangerous than I had heard.
Anyhoo, I'm not sure what he expected after the club had agreed to sell him but he essentially refused to go. Best of luck to him anyway. Unfortunately we won't get the £12m Sunderland were willing to pay a year ago.
Joe Gomez has signed up, good piece of future proofing but don't think he'll see too much first team time. Loan candidate perhaps?
The Mail reporting that we're looking at Fernando Llorente from Juve or Carlos Bacca from Sevilla.
This one has come out of nowhere but apparently a bid is in with Real to the tune of £16m for Spanish midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
Few rumours flying around:
- Kovacic offer is on the table with Inter who need to sell someone to fund another purchase. Whether they will sell him though is open to debate. Inter are also holding off to see if any other offers come in for him but they do risk losing the sale if LFC think they are dragging their heels and decide to look elsewhere.
- Rumours for Illarramendi seem to be 1+1=3 - Real are simply making it clear he's available for sale so he'll now be linked with every other team in Europe.
- City have come back with a final $45m offer - ball is in Liverpool's court.
- Konoplyanka could be back on the card. He's now on a free and LFC spent significant time in the last two transfer windows chasing him.
- LFC is one of the clubs, along with MUFC that Firmino's reps have been talking to. A long shot but nice to see agents want to talk to us.

Firmino rumours are picking up pace. Sounds like a fee has been agreed with Hoffenheim but will be down to the player and I understand there is a rule that we can't officially talk to a player directly until 1st of July and even more so because he is on national duty right now.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
Firmino and Illaramendi would be excellent signings imo
We'll end up with Tom Ince and Brendan Rodger's son.
And Joe Allen on a fancy new 5 year deal.
And they will all play out of position
Haha and Sturridge will be injured.
