Yeah, not too upset about Eagles leaving. I remember him scoring a nice goal against Everton a couple of seasons ago when we were 2nil down and came back to win 4-2, but never have been totally sold on him. Best of luck to him though.

Is he? He's looked impressive enough in his rare chances in the first team. Its ridiculous how little first team experience we give decent youngsters like Evans and Simpson at Man Utd though. Annoys the hell out of me. Thought Eagles could have done alright this year. He seems to score almost everytime he plays for United. He netted twice in this years pre seasons games and a few times in the last lot of pre-season games if I remember right?

I agree to an extent, it annoys me how little chances we gave to guys like Pique and Rossi, especially after investing so much effort in developing them, to then sell them off. Campbell will be staying this season after scoring the winner in Ole's testimonial. I really hope Evans can stay and break through, and the same with Danny Simpson (if he doesn't leave).
I think Eagles might have scored a few goals preseason the last coupla years, but I'm certainly not as upset about him going as Rossi or Pique.

Tottenham linked with a massive spending binge today, apparently to fund it they will sell Berbatov to United. That rumour's gone a bit quiet recently but I guess it's always been in the works. I believe he could be a wonderful signing.

So is Saha injured still? Where is he? One can't feel too confident going into the season opener with one fit senior striker. That's a lot of pressure on CT, especially without Cristiano not being fit for another 6 weeks. I don't think we can pull a one-off striker without Cristiano's goals. Oh and no Nani or Anderson. I think Frazier can be a very good player, but can you really give him a start on opening day of the season at Old Trafford?
Not keen on Ashton BTW, I do like him as a player but I agree with Muso, we can't deal with all those injuries while Saha's on the books playing the Mr. Injury.
By the way, how good is this young right back Brazillian bloke gonna be? Sir Alex can't stop raving about the guy. More exciting talent!

Like Phil Neville and Gary Neville...hopefully a bit better than Phil at least though!
I'm sure we'll sign a striker before the season begins. Might as well count Saha out cause he just can't keep himself in one piece. Roy Keane's mad if he's gunna pay any serious money to sign Saha.
With Campbell, Rooney, Tevez and either Berbatov or Huntelaar (Frankly I'd prefer Huntelaar as he's an proven out and out goal scorer while Berbatov, Tevez and Rooney play a little further back in the field) we'll have the best strike force in the league. If Keane and Torres gel then that'd be something to be a little worried about but by January they'll be out of the title race as usual.

Agree almost entirely with that, though I don't know about Huntelaar being a "proven" goalscorer at Premiership level if you think about some of the great goalscorers to come out of Holland that didn't do that well. Sure van Nistelrooy, but Kezman was dreadful and Kuyt doesn't really score that often. Alves is still yet to fire. Though I don't want to suggest that Huntelaar would fail, I just am not sure if he can be called 'proven.'

Sold Silvestre to the Arse this morning, first player since Brian Kidd to go between the clubs. Hardly worried, Mikael was a good servant to the club-I personally think his best year was 2002/03 when about a third of the way through he switched from LB to CB and formed a Premiership winning partnership with Rio.
I doubt he'll make Arsenal a premiership threat, just solidify their options.

Hahaha Oh Dimi!! Stupid bugger. I remember when Carlos Tevez turned up to the press conference after he'd signed for Corinthians, in a United shirt! Bizarre coz he said he got told to wear it from Nike. Three or four years later... Don't think it'll be that long with Berbatov though.

I was going to post that article on the spurs thread, but when i went in there, there were posts by arsenal fans all over the place giving them stick about all sorts. I just couldn't do it, even though i despise those measly beggars

Yeah he won't last long at United.

Berbs was class in 06/07, scored a s**tload of goals and I was really surprised a bigger club didn't get him then, definately prefer him to Huntelaar as he's got prem experience Oska2008-08-24 12:44:45

Yeah that is very strange Buffon, I guess it has more to do with the US Open being on Sport 2, though that seems strange in itself.
On the game itself, I'm always nervous about going to Fratton Park, we never seem to go well there, last year was 1-1, and this year with so many missing it will be difficult. On a more positive note, CT will be back up front, and Pompey were dreadful against Chelsea last week. I think if they lose tomorrow it will be 6 league losses in a row, including the end of last season.

1-0 win over Portsmouth, Fletch scored again. Dominated the game in truth, second half we barely gave Pompey a kick of the ball. Nice way to go out before heading to Monaco this weekend for the Super Cup. Almost three weeks before our next league fixture.

watched the game this morning, thought it was a good display from united. they controlled everything and portsmouth only really had those couple of long range strikes on goal that were any threat. vidic is a great player isnt he, dominated defoe and crouch.
on a not such good note though, i have a huge problem with the way united gang rape the ref whenever a) he calls a foul against them or b) the other team commits a foul they think warrants a card. its disgraceful and even the players i thought seemd like good blokes like scholes are guilty of it. pretty disgraceful really if i was the ref id be handing out cards left and right, was happy to see fletcher get one for backchatting. rodfarva2008-08-26 12:02:28

Good win today, have to agree, even though was only 1-0, was very dominant. On watching a replay Rooney will be fuming about the one he put away in the second half at some point that he was blown offside for, classy finish it was.

And how long do all the players stick around at Arsenal? Until they get another 4th place trophyless season and realise before long that Spurs will probably be taking their place in the league!
Who needs Ronaldo when we've got Darren Fletcher aye? Would really like to see Rooney play a little more selfishly, cause Tevez does alot of that unselfish work too. One of them needs to be the finisher.
