It is all well and good bringing down another opinion, but not offering your own?

My comments were directed at the Arsenal "supporters" comments such as "your sh*t this year"  If you want an intellectual debate lets have one on how a team in the top 4 of the prem league (and I include Arsenal in that) are sh*t.
As to me looking around so you can have a chat with people like Paulinho if you have a look around yourself ie at the previous page of this very post you'll see Paulinho and I talking re Berbatovs goal. What you say is such good advice perhaps you should listen to it yourself.

Man U started with 3 English players (not that I care in the least where the players are born, just pointing out the ludicrous double-standard that your statement entails).

Really?
Man U squad has 20 English players in it Arsenal has 2. Man U started 4 English players twice as many as Arsenal could field even if all of them started. Even if you can't count past 3 you should realise its bigger than 2.
Perhaps you could join up with NZgooner he can't read, you can't count, perhaps between you could mount an arguement.

I did check, and did not see much else either. A sentence comment on a goal and a link to that goal is a far cry from the intellectual debate that you were trying to create, too. Anywho, i'll give you back your thread so you can intellectually debate some more.

Have you seen the international success that England has had in the last 40 odd years??  Why on earth would Arsenal want that rubbish out on the pitch!?!?!?

Plus, when there's a penalty to be taken I wouldn't want a pom to step up to the spot!!!!

Yes. Someone was complaining that Arsenal didn't have enough English players, yet Man U had very few also.

2-1.

Wenger was awarded France's highest decoration, the Lgion d'Honneur, in 2002. He was awarded an honorary OBE for services to British football in the Queen's Birthday Honours List of 2003,
Wenger has a degree in engineering and a Master's degree in economics from Strasbourg University and is fluent in French, German and English; he also speaks some Italian, Spanish and Japanese (Ferguson struggles to be understood by most english people)

i was just going to say that Wenger has an OBE.  i'm just saying, you can't expect Wenger to buy and field sh*t english players (Gary Neville, and Wayne didn't help your cause either..missed a couple of fairly open goals) when he can get high quality Frenchmen..e.g

Sagna who completely bossed Evra.shown by: 0 attacking runs by Evra that didnt end in being takcled by Sagna, and 0 crosses by Patrice.
Sagna however got round Evra on 4 occassions to whip crosses in, also won two free kicks in attacking positions..one of which we scored from if you'll remember.

Clichy absolutely bossed Ronaldo (comparatively). Obviously you can't keep the man quiet but the boys at ESPNsoccernet said that clichy on saturday was the best performance by a left back against Cristiano since he's come to England.

Not to mention Nasri who scored...twice!

All play in the Carling Cup and possibly FA Cup depending on who we play. Wilshere, Randall, Gibbs and Lansbury have all featured on the bench during the Premiership this season with Wilshere getting several appearances.

How many of Utd's 20 play regularly?

Three for me, and two for them.

um, haha? no. that is probably the least funny thing ive heard all day.
why does it even matter how many english players anyone has in their squad?

why can people never be satisfied with saying something along the lines of "what a game, great performance by arsenal to take the 3 points" instead of bitching and moaning for days after about Arsene's OBE and other such irrelevant sh*t.

now i feel better

Sorry team, been away for the last week or so! Personally, while I like the idea of having locally-born players football teams, really it doesn't matter if they were born on Mars. Teams, including Arsenal need to bring players in that win and the French boys seem to do that.

Incidently, halftime in the Carling Cup tie and we have only Neville and Darren Gibson (who might even be Irish) in the starting Eleven from England. Dunno how many of English boys the Arse have this morning, but it might even be more than that. Oh its 0-0 also.

Saturday night was an interesting game, was it just me or Did Gary Nev have an absolute shocker? Then Rafael comes on and scores. Might be a more sustained change at RB coming quicker than expected. For me, one of those immensly quick, hectic and wonderful games that could go any which way, games which we always did well at Highbury in but no yet at the Emirates. Never mind, still a long way to go.

Finally an intellegent United fan arrives in the thread.

Of our starting 11 tonight 5 are English, Jack Wilshere, Gavin Hoyte, Mark Randall, Kieran Gibbs and Jay Simpson. We have an additional 3 on the bench, Henri Lansbury, Abu Ogogo and Emmanuel Frimpong.

Yes there is still a long way to go in the season and i guess any of the top four are still theoretically in the title race, although it can be argued given the opponents some of the top four have faced so far.

Three for me, and two for them.

Exacly right in fact if you go back in the thread and actual READ what it was (NZGOONER do you get a theme here) you will see it was raised by WillyB and  a number of posts including a couple from Arsenal before I commented.  To say i raised it is pure invetion in fact the irony is (as Timmy points out) that my original beef was against the sh*t quote.  Something that NZgooner seems now to be objecting to as well, but who knows.
If the truth be know I think Arsenal were the better team and the better team won, again my point was instead how can you describe any team in the top 4 (including Arsenal) as sh*t).

Finished 1-0, a Tevez penalty, during a game in which we were totally dominant but couldn't get that goal. Arsenal also through, Chelsea play Burnley tomorrow and Liverpool have to go play Tottenham. If I remember Stoke, Derby and someone else also won. Not sure when the QF draw is made.

Buffon I do not doubt you, but an English bloke called Emmanuel Frimpong?  Gold.

Yeah Hargreaves cost a lot, gets a lot in wages, though I'm sure he wants to be playing instead of being injured all the time. He's played maybe 25 games for us, scored that vital winner against Arsenal last year, and was great in the Champions League final. So not a total waste of money, just a pretty big one. So far.
