At least we're making chances I suppose.

Gutted about Elanga's in particular.

Losing 4-1 to City won't help the cause. Be interesting to hear the excuses.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

At one point we went on a counter-attack... with the ball on the left-wing, 8 City players got back into their own half before Rashford (playing as striker) started sprinting.

We didn't just give up the players couldn't be arsed.

Start shipping them out.

Just seen the Maguire dummy assist for the second goal. You just hoof the ball into the stands for a corner there. He desperately needs to head in a corner soon so he can cup his ears to the critics again.

At least we could win the UEFA Conference next year

Make this happen!!
I'm not enthused by Poch or ten Hag, but Tuchel to MU gives me a little stiffy.

Yes, let's all have some fun and laugh at United, our lack of penetration, and the atrocious performances from the likes of Rashford (and more)... and I accept it. United need to look at themselves and fix what we can control.

At some point though, you also have to acknowledge that you simply cannot play football against this Atletico team with a referee like we saw today.

Potentially Ronaldo's last Champions League appearance this morning?
End of an era if that ends up being the case. Best ever Champions League player in history?

I give up.
I really think Ralf is being subconsciously undermined by being only referred to as "Interim Manager". Why not just call him the gaffer, on a short term deal?

i think it's a tough one given he was penciled in to take DOF role. By calling him interim, it implies he doesn't have enough time. Otherwise, a failed manager being made DOF starts to raise alarm bells.

The best thing Rolf has done is show the world how terrible these players are. The attitude stinks.

I watched the Man City v Liverpool the other day and I said afterwards that not one Utd player would get in either side and were at least 4 goals better than us. It proved to be correct and we were just embarrassing. There were a few players out but the reality was it was men against boys. Even with a big turnaround of players we are many years away from ever challenging for the title.
Poor management from the board and Woodward have destroyed this club

How good was that second goal... regardless of performances, that particular goal looked undefendable. The one touch passes, no one could've anticipated that ball from Mane and been able to keep up with Salah.
They are a very very good team. They remind me of watching Arsenal in our heyday 20 years ago, just the way it all clicks together like that sometimes.

The Club is not destroyed, it's become just another club where the fans are always looking to the next year hoping for  improvement.

Clinging on to hypotheticals because your team is sharke, your interim manager is a fraud, your captain is a fridge, your best two midfielders are children, your hot prospect is a rapist and your club legend is off to Paris.

Three for me, and two for them.

Whilst Buffon's post was a bit unnecessary, your response there is in very poor taste Leggy. You can do a lot better than that mate.

about as unnecessary as leggy's response and claim regarding the invincible squad.
we get it Leggy, your team are struggling right now and you're frustrated, no need to lash out with hyperbole though.

Buffon's post was similar to the ones he used to put on in 2007 when he was still at school. Obviously he has not gown up although in his 30's.
Too many snowflakes these days :)

At least Buffy and Leggy’s rivalry still has a bit of edge. Sadly Man U and anyone is a bit of a bust at the moment. And even worse for Man U fans to think about is the ex-player manager stakes Steve Bruce and Solksjaer v Arteta and Viera.
Though Rooney has earned plaudits at Derby I believe l, for Luke Skywalker type efforts in a bleak situation.

You forgot Laurent Blanc and Mark Hughes
I am a big fan of Arteta but people seem to forget he played a lot more games for Everton than he did for Arsenal

Does that mean he's not allowed to be classed as an ex-Arsenal player?
Laurent Blanc is not an ex-ManU player in that case, he's ex-Montpellier.

Some thoughts:

  • Best part of game was Hannibal coming on and actually putting in a little bit of fight. If all 11 players showed a tiny bit of fight we would've at least been in with a chance.
  • Priority number 1 for United is a mentally strong midfield core who, when the team is under pressure, aren't going to crumble. Some guys whose confidence is going to bleed off on others.
  • How right was SAF about Paul Pogba. Scored some bangers in Serie A and looks decent when he's got one of the world's best (Kante) doing the work besides him, otherwise a total fraud
  • Has any player dropped off like Rashford? From retiring Demichelis at the Etihad to literally falling over the ball when trying to dribble. Whisper it very quietly... maybe he should've focused on football?

Always looking to be clever. I never inferred any such thing re Arteta.

Haha - all true!! (though didn't know Phil Jones is going to Paris!)

Apart from Ralf being a fraud. I think he's very quickly identified what/who the problems are (i.e.: everything and everyone), which was his remit. He can't polish a turd, after all. He's as (more?) frustrated as anyone else with this shower of shark.

As for the Liverpool of now vs the Invincibles quip - I agree. From memory, the Invincibles drew a lot of games, I think modern-day Liverpool or Man City would have them on toast. Not as bad as we were destroyed, mind you. We're shark. But it's just an opinion.

I also think peak-City (KdB, Silva, Yaya, Kompany, Agueroooooooo) would run rings around current Liverpool, but that could also be my extreme anti-Scouser attitude coming out. I actually think peak-City would beat 1999-United, but not 2008-United. Who knows. Who cares.

Kind of cooked that Pawson goes to the screen to review the possible penalty, not only gets lambasted by Arteta on the way, but then is only presented with one camera angle 8 times.

Not to mention Elanga's shout - who beats his defender, has his arm pulled back, then shoulder grabbed - doesn't get a look...

Or old mate who got beaten by Sancho and just fell to the ground and stopped the ball with his arm...

mate your dreaming if you think that first pen wasnt one, clear foul all day, looked to me like Arteta was appealing for Nketiahs goal not to be ruled out.
Elanga went down way to easily.
And the Sancho shout is probably a fair call.

I didn't say it wasn't - I said I think it's wrong that he only sees one angle, and that it's wrong that Arteta gets to scream at him before hand. Just reeks of typical Premier League nonsense where they haven't put an ounce of thought into the rules. Mark my words we'll have a more controversial situation in future when the referee is only shown one angle.

... and as I type again Elanga is cynically grabbed and fouled again.
