your lads have to do more to look after the ball, several times now just let it run passed them and out.
but yeah, Tavares is gonna give away plenty of fouls.

Mate our lads don't run hahaha!

Don't you know haircuts win football games?!?

Nice goal though.

Just to stir the pot... is it still an offence to impede the goal keeper's view in an offside position? Because that just happened.
lol, your boy's attitudes definitely needs to be questioned.
yeah great goal, Xhaka scores too few though.

Bruno should have seen red for that! late as fudge and studs to the ankle.

I mean we've just seen two replays showing De Gea having to look around Nketiah (who's offside) and consequently being flat footed...

So it's not like VAR is adding any value at all.
de Gea was never saving that.

Still should have been overturned.
perhaps, I didnt think Nketiah was really in the way, de gea tried to make it look more like he was by trying to peer around him, which probably took his eyes off the ball.
We managed to ride our luck in the first 20 of the second half.
3-1/or 2-1 makes no difference, we have 4th and you guys have Chelsea next Thursday. Gonna be a tough 4 games for the interim manager. New manager must want a challenge, leaving Ajax winning the league. He's gonna have to replace a good chunk of that squad though.

Varane is so, so bad. He's either injured or plays like a steaming pile of dogshark

Mason Greenwood - if he was found "not guilty" (not the same as "innocent"), would you be happy to see him back?

I wouldn't; the recording of him is pretty damning and gives an indication to his character, regardless of any court decision.
I assume the answer would be yes considering you fullas welcomed Ronaldo back with open arms - he is also considered innocent but involved in something where some evidence seems to paint him as very dodgy.
I'm not giving an opinion either way, just mentioning the consistency.
I'm a bit torn on it to be fair. We have the justice system for a reason, everyone should be presumed innocent unless proven guilty, and I think people should be given second chances to redeem themselves.
At the same time, to be his ex-girlfriend, or one of her friends/family, and to see him return to the highest levels of the game and become successful would be a difficult and seemingly unjust thing to witness.
So I don't know really. It's a tough one.
Bottom line: F*cken hell guys don't abuse your girlfriends WTF?!?!!!!

Probably don't want two rapists at the club tbf.

Three for me, and two for them.

In fairness, I didn't know about the Ronaldo stuff till after he signed.....I don't know how indicative of the fan base that is.

Does it really alter the question involving Greenwood though?

I haven't heard the recording in this case but in general if a person is found not guilty in a court of law or charges are dropped completely how do you not take them back? Isn't that the point of the justice system? Or should a person found not guilty of something just never be allowed to work again?

I guess it then falls into the "moral character" area, rather than the legal area. Yes, Man U (and, I'm sure, every club in the world) have people who would fail that test.....but specifically for Greenwood, after listening to the recording, and on a moral level, would Man U fans be happy to have him back or not?
I think if he's found not guilty you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt is perhaps one of the grounding tenants of western society.

I think it's impossible to decide how I'd feel without the context of why he got off, and without knowing him.

I also chuckled. But I'd be wary of any fan who assume their club didn't have some bad apples... High testosterone borderline crazy athletes are often not nice people.

FFS - just sign someone!!

We can get Neves and Tielemans combined for less than the price of Frenkie de Jong. It's not hard.......every midfielder on the planet is better than what we have, so it's literally impossible to make a bad signing.....

Joey Barton springs to mind! John "I know what you said" Terry is a another. Racist comments to Anton Ferdinand and banging a team mates mrs is another.

Bye bye CR7, it wasn't meant to be. PSG, Bayern or Juve for you. And with Greenwood gone, at least we have a moral ground.

Need to sign 2x strikers now though, to replace him and Cavani.

Schick and Belotti?
Oh no, I forgot about Martial. Its going to be him, isn't it? Sigh

CR7 would be a loss to any team but giving the new manager more breathing space might be better in the long run.

Think a lot of the rumours over the next few weeks - "United won't let him leave" - will just be United trying to maintain a strong negotiating position. Ultimately I think United has no problem letting him depart.

Don't know how many forwards we're going to sign, and I'm not convinced Ronaldo is going even though he clearly wants to - won't be many teams willing to pay what he wants and the fee we'll want for him and I doubt we'll be keen to sell him to Chelsea which is the main link I've seen so far. That said, I don't think ETH will be heartbroken by losing Ronaldo, he's likely one of the tougher players to get to adapt to his philosophy and I'm not sure the old dog is interested in any new tricks at this point. Fingers crossed Bayern decide he can do a job for a season or two and replace Lewandowski.

Malacia announced this morning is nice, but is bad news for Telles and maybe Williams. Martinez may well be on his way and de Jong appears to still be in the works. I'm not really expecting anything beyond that unless Ronaldo does go.

We should play hardball with Chelsea or any Premier League team. If that destroys the relationship with Ronaldo and the club so be it.

Not entirely sure where Martinez would fit in, do you? A 5 ft 9 in central defender would likely get monstered in the PL, and we have plenty of left backs now (Shaw, Malacia, Alex Telles, Williams - at the time of writing). He played a bit (a bit) of defensive midfielder in Argentina, but that's like saying I can drive in F1 because I used to own a Subaru.
Unless we played 3 at the back, with Martinez as the left sided central defender. But where would that leave Sancho?

Get Ziyech to come to OT, we'll give them CR7 and some loose change. Or Gnabry from Bayern in a similar CR7 plus moolah deal.

I think it's fairly obvious now that this transfer window is going to be a limp rag, just like practically every window going back to 2009 when we got Valencia, Diouf, Obertan, and Owen in to replace Ronaldo.

Man U playing pretty well in their preseason game in Aussie tonight against Villa. Leading 2 - 0 at half time. Spark Sport.

Just watched Brighton winning for the first time ever. Three players cost United. I'm still trying to figure out why Fred is even still at the club, couldn't they give him away?? Maguire & McTominay. Those three cost them.

Fred and McT I agree with - how low in the Premier League would you have to get for Fred to get a start in a different team? Fernandes was poor. Rashford was absolutely appalling.

But I don't think there's much reason to single out Maguire.

Martinez had a good game. Eriksen our best player. Hopefully we have seen the end of McFred for the year.

For Fred to be anywhere near the 1st team for 4 years with several different managers/interims/caretakers, I can only assume he has some very compromising photos of one of the Glazers!

He was never & will never be good enough. I'm literally dumbfounded the heirarchy have been unable to see or act on that.

Maguire has a slower turning circle than a bus. He got caught out several times, including for Brighton's goals. Fred too, at the back post.
