Swap Rooney and Di Maria from the start it would've been a different game.

Wilson coming on didn't add spark Di Maria being moved to comfortable positions added that spark.

Not yet, although I agree that Di Maria should have not have been playing up. If fact, he was awful. The game changed when he took of Mata and Evans and went back to a 4-4-2. Herrera should be on instead of Mata.

I would leave Falcao and Wilson up front with Rooney in behind. Put Carrick in the back four ( until they buy some one better) Blind central mid and Herrera and Di Maria there as well. Falcao  was very unlucky not to score a couple today and I see some clown in the UK said he fluffed an easy chance-- on the replay the defender got a slight touch.

If it had not been for the QPR keeper it could have been 5-1.

QPR would have scored if Green hadn't played?

After watching that poor performance in the FA Cup game today I am still smiling at what I read last night.

I finished AF's book yesterday and he mentioned Jones a few times and basically said he was a good player.

The guy must be one of the worst players in the Premier league. LVG keeps saying he won't buy any player that is not better than the ones he has. Every other team has better defenders that either Jones,Smailing and Evans.

It is truly embarrassing watching these guys.

Doesn't he keep getting picked for England? And surely Sir Alex isn't going to say of a guy still on the books that he pushed and everything that he was crap, even if he's not the best?

He does keep getting picked for England--- that is why they are not that great. Of course AF is not going to say he is crap, but I have watched him for a few years now and he just does not have it.

I'm sure Ferguson will be disappointed you don't agree with him Leggy.

Three for me, and two for them.

Have to agree with Leggy tbh. SAF was good but no way was he always right. We need someone better than Jones.

Also no excuse for not scoring against that team this morning. We have some of the best fire power in the world and those chumps kept us out. Disgraceful. Even with a couple of them rested

I think a lot of them will improve. I don't believe Jones will.

Yep, Jones is shocking ....but hey, its not all bad -  We're the highest placed team in the FA Cup.

Now, C'mon Bolton - make my day.

Good result but still not playing as well as I would expect. Cannot understand why Herrera is on the bench. He would have been better than Di Maria and Valencia today. RVP's goal was great but I reckon he was offside. Shaw Januzaj and Valencias crossing was amateurish to say the least. Should have won by a lot more.

Yeah RVP was off side. Blind had agreat game but not sure if that Leicester midfield is much of a test tbf.

Not even fussed about RVP's offside given the reverse fixture.

Manchester Evening News.  Rooney got a 6. 'Nothing would really come off for the captain in this one. Passes over hit or easily read by Leicester. '    Those sort of errors can happen regardless of what position you are playing in. Nothing to do with him playing in midfield.

Dodged a bullet in the 1st minute but ended up being a comfortable win over Cambridge United.

Pre-empting the "its only against ......." from the haters gallery but a good performance from Mcnair - Good enough to keep Jones out of the RB position/anywhere for a while hopefully !

Pretty easy to comment on this game. 1st half we were embarrassing, the second half slightly better but with players like Rooney and Di Maria performing no better than A League players it was not surprising that we could not beat WH.

Fact is they played better than we did and would probably feel aggrieved that they did not get all the points.

Which players from West Ham would you take for United if you could Leggy?

Kouyate impressed me. I also think Song ,  but his problem is that he might get too many red cards.

Kouyate has a big engine and has a new deal pending, Song not so sure whether another London club can offer him European football. He is 27 and wanting mega bucks though. Not fancy another Valencia?

Needs confidence rebuilding but a few games with Mr Sakho will do the trick while AC is on holiday/physio/shacked up with fiancee. Could be yours if you can make the buy-out clause of around GBP 20million and you get in before the special one!

I think on the evidence of the last game (and that alone) I'd take Kouyate, Song, Downing, Sakho and Valencia ahead of anyone wearing red. Still, didn't get the result, couldn't bury the game.

The fact  is that  as individuals Utd have a very good side but getting them to gel in positions that are perhaps not their normal ones is the problem.

Agree - we could blame Clattenburg and the extra 4 minutes but actually we switched for a second and that's alll you need at this level. Lesson learnt; play the full 94 minutes or whatever it takes.

Burnley at home tomorrow.

I'd be keen to see something like this (shamelessly stolen off the internet)

--------------------de Gea----------------

---Valencia---Jones---Smalling----Rojo--

-------------Blind-------Herrera-----------

--------Di Maria---Mata---Januzaj-------

-------------------Rooney-----------------

Not really a way around it unless you play Rojo in CB and Rafael or Young at LB?

Swap Mata out for Wilson and play a straight 4-4-2 would be a goer as well

This is what I wanted pre season. I'm a bit over Mata though after how he has played this season.

Rafael (90mins) & Young (59mins) played for the U21 on Monday.. unsure about starting either tonight.

Whilst I'm in Manager mode, lets go with:

-------------------------------De Gea------------------------

----Valencia-------Smalling-----McNair--------Rojo----

--------------------------------Blind----------------------------

--------------Rooney-----------------------Hererra------------

----Di Maria-----------------Wilson------------------Januzaj---

Another bad performance for 3 points. Evans was horrendous. Pretty poor defending all round and lucky to get away with it. Smalling has given some of the strikers a fair bit to think about. Why isn't Herrera starting?

Januzaj is so ineffectual in this narrow diamond, it makes no sense to play him there. Van Persie and Falcao are both totally out of touch. If we are too continue with this system I think it needs to have another natural central midfielder, and put Di Maria on the left of the diamond, his one-footedness means he slows the attack too much when on the right or as the 10.

Agree about Januzai and Di Maria.  Januzai is good at beating players but he does not know when or how to deliver. Di Maria should play on the left. Evans  should try an A league side, not the Nix because he is not good enough. Jones is never going to make it because of injuries and Smalling might have scored two goals but I put him in the same class as Evans. Rooney was rubbish today, his passing was woeful.

If I were a Burnley fan I would be annoyed. We were lucky.

Young was having a bit of a renaissance before Christmas IIRC. Is he back out of favour or injured?
