On a side note, its quite ridiculous how inflated transfer fees are these days. 38 million pound release clause for Gaitan.... please!

A fair bit nicer to look at than Paul Pogba to be fair. If that was indeed the chap on your previous avatar.

Macheda was a flop on loan to us. Fabio has a very bright future for United and Wellbeck would be a welcome addition to any club's roster.

Welbeck's not going anywhere!
Yeah pity about Macheda but he is definitely on his way out now - guessing across the channel.
Still reckon Fabio loan should be EPL but not necessarily Man U old boys network (but I suppose that's how it works).

Everton playing for pride in the shirt, contracts, Moyes maybe, but nothing else. Man U at home, everything to play for, "should' win. I dunno, it sounds as dangerous as hell to me!Stretford End2012-04-22 19:16:12

Everton playing to stay in front of Liverpool, that is incentive enough.

Well done Toffees. Took the game to Devils in first half and thoroughly deserved lead when it came. Man U too tentative perhaps but fair play to Everton. Having said that, couple of beautifully constructed goals from our lads saw us up 3-1 and 4-2. At that point, given the bigger picture of the title race, we really should have won it from there but to Everton's credit they kept coming at us. Great games from Fellaini & Pienaar.

Thoughts on our game - Valenica was ineffective vs Distin (hence replaced by Hernandez but quite late); Raffael attacked well enough but was too loose in defence and I really don't understand bringing on Jones with 5 to go + injury time & chasing a goal to win. Not sure who was on the bench but Park would have been a better option.

For the City derby - a WIN there will see us need 1 point from last 2 games - I would definitely go with Young and Nani on the wings and Danny up front with Wazza playing deeper centrally; Carrick and Scholes midfield. Smalling for Raffa will give us more aerial strength and I think Smalling has done ok at fullback previously - but don't be surprised if SAF plays Valencia there.

Apart from the City game this was always going to be the toughest. I picked a draw, but Utd should have won. It was a great game and some wonderful goals scored by both teams. Pity not all games are as good to watch as this one.
Unless we can get at least a point next week then I reckon City will take the title.

Hey come on. Let's make it our title by winning there next week! Aside from that, we need revenge for 1st round humiliation. Motivation enough?

It certainly would be good to win playing City away, but I would rather be cautious than cocky.

Only 5 mins of injury time. Was the Sir Alex Fergusson official time keeping watch was not being used? usually, they play until United get a winner.

Bitter much?

Complaining here aint going to do anything. Take up your issues with the FA.

5 am for me. Better that way as I won't be late for work.
The boys will have to be at the top of their game if they are to have any chance.Regardless, am looking forward to it.Best thing is that we can't finish less that 2nd in the league.

Why we lost:

City were the better team and Kompany's header was pretty superb.

BUT why oh why did we move away from the proven performers that saw us get to the top of the league?

ie why didn't Wellbeck and 2 of Young/Valenica/Nani start? Why play a 5 man midfield when Welbeck and Rooney's partnership has been so lethal? Why play Park when he's hardly played at all of late? Why play Jones instead of Rafael?

Only one reason: SAF lost his bottle and played for the draw from the start.

So, Toons win over Chelski means they still have Champions League position to play for.

At home, full stadium, Cisse is white hot form....there was that Wigan road bump though, wasn't there?

Oh well, come on Toons.

Norwich have done us a favour by drawing with the Arse. Means Toons have even more to play for vs City. So focussed on that game I've almost forgotten we still need to do the business against the Swans! Here's hoping the Tynesiders can do it.
