Performance of Utd, Arsenal, City and the steep rise and equally steep decline of LFC doesn't bode well or anyone challenging Chelski next season. What say you United fans?

It's hard to know. City need to overhaul their squad. Arsenal seem to be on the cusp of something but it has been a long time since Wenger has been able to turn a promising squad into champions. At United we woulld have done a lot better had our start to the season not been so disastrous. We are obviously going to spend more money but we still look to be two years away.

I think our guys forgot that the game lasts for 90 min not 60. We were miles better than them in the first half and really should have scored a couple more. Is was as if someone had waved a magic wand after half time or perhaps one or two got cocky because we stopped working. It would have great  great if RVP has scored with the half volley.

Hopefully LVG has finally realised what a poor defender Jones is. He almost cost us two goals. The problem with all our defenders is that there seems to be a lack of communication and also ball watching.

The Woolwich boys would probably class that as a victory and in the last 10 mins I thought they would win but we only have ourselves to blame for not putting away our chances.

I'll class it as us finishing ahead of you for a second season running. Bit it's alright, if LVG spunks another 150m this summer you might give us a proper run for our money next year.

Three for me, and two for them.

Was surprised at how good you guys looked in the first half. Some very crisp passing, to me it suggested you should be challenging next season. I was shocked at how far your game has progressed since we knocked you out of the FA Cup. Some real nice attacking verve although I do hand it to Kosc/Mertesacker, they were excellent in clearing the danger many times in that first half.

We were very poor with the ball in the first half. Once we got some semblance of fluidity going in the 2nd half it looked like we could've scored a bag full.

After watching that I am with you in regards to your defence Leggy. Despite your team looking in good form the defenders still looked like an accident waiting to happen. Obviously Jones, but I was also surprised with Rojo, didn't think much of him at all. Without Blind cleaning up in general play and Fellaini defending at the set piece, I think you'd have conceded more than one.

It is the second season running but then it is 10 years since you previously finished above us. Hope he spends more than that.

I will give Rojo the benefit of the doubt as he has been injured and not played for weeks.

Midfield is still so dysfunctional, especially without Carrick. If the right balance can be struck there it will give LvG a lot more freedom in how he structures the attack.

You know we belong together...

The back four is a lot more dysfunctional than the midfield. Not much good have the best midfield in the world and leaking goals at the back.

The defense has to be top priority. Likely De Gea is gone and without him we'd be sixth/seventh this season IMO. The next keeper will need better quality in front of him.

Fuck this stupid game

Definitely have better players in midfield, but they are all suited to a different style of play.

'Good signing' and worth the risk are two different things :P

I was just trolling you to be fair, but to clarify, this was the actual quote;

"...like no one ever wasted some money. I would even call it genius that we managed to get Falcao on a loan - definitely worth the risk in my opinion."

Personally I would say that it was not worth the risk but hey, if you were happy with that piece of business then all power to you!

I was certainly happy with it :)

I can't stop singing this. Absolutely brilliant chant from your fans. I heard it during the Hull game as well.

Hope the club holds out for more money from Madrid. Would rather hold De Gea for another season and let him have a free than give him away.

Not sure about Schneiderlin as I have not really followed  him. The one that I liked from Southampton was Wanyama. Never saw him have a bad game.

It is going to be interesting to see who we end up with.

Agreed. The club should be looking to get at least 25m pounds or else tell him to stick out the contract. Especially with the figures Madrid are coming to us with their out of contract players...

Is this transfer window turning into another nightmare?

Schneiderlin would be a good replacement for Carrick

If De Gea goes, are you happy with Valdes as your #1? Would you prefer Lloris? Any other targets you're aware of?

I personally would be happy with Valdes.  Have not watched a lot of Lloris this season, but what I have seen he was  not particularly outstanding.

"Greeky Bum Time." - Sun's latest front page headine, misquoting Ferguson (following the Greek vote).

Lol.

Matteo Darmian looking likely?

Looks a good bit of business...

Possibly a couple of official announcements tomorrow:

Darmian IN

RVP OUT to Fenerbahce

Expecting De Gea to go this/next week

Matteo Darmian is an excellent signing. Class defenders is what we needed and have now got one. For me a better option than Clyne.

With casillas to Porto now confirmed, perhaps we'll see de Gea/Ramos happen swiftly.

Schneiderlin on board now too, thought they would have been happy with Schweinsteiger but a good signing. Probably not ideal for Blind though.

I think Van Gaal wants 2 players for every position so with Blind covering left back and midfield,he should still get games maybe just not as many starts. The rumors about getting Gaitan in and letting Di Maria go are concerning, that would be a massive downgrade, imo.

2 players per position looking good so far. However, DeGea and Hernandez will probably leave so they will need to be replaced. But other than that, very happy with the squad additions. LVG has bought in the depth and experience we needed. And Depay for good measure

After laughing at how many left backs you could possibly buy in a transfer window I have to say fair play to VG on these two midfielders.

So does seem as Valdes will be going

(Apparantly) When asked why Valdes had been left out of the squad for United's pre-season tour of the United States, Van Gaal said: "He is not selected because he does not follow our philosophy. When that is the case, there is not a place for a player.

Last season he refused to play in the second team and there are other aspects you need as a keeper at United," he said.

When you are not willing to follow those principles, there is only one way and that is out."

Still think De Gea will go,  so who are we looking at ?

Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

Cillessen (Ajax)

In other rumours am now hearing Benteke to United !

I'm not a United, Holland or van Gaal fan - but his stance on Valdes is outstanding.

And, the bit about letting him play the last game of the season 'to help him find a club' - that's classy.

Has also said Rafael isn't needed.

The Valdes stance is incredibly refreshing.
