So I am a troll, because I believe a team that has been widely reported as the most expensive side ever assembled coming 6th is not an amazing achievement? The same team that was dominated by Celta Vigo, who came 14th in La Liga is not the GOAT. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1184151/Live/Eur... The same team that drew with the Giants of football Anderlecht https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1179905/Live/Eur...

I find it amazing seeing children proclaim Maureen and Man U a great success, when they objectively failed.

As soon as anyone calls United "Manure" its clear they're a troll. Its like saying Liverpoo or Manchester Sharkty - its irrelevant and shows your level of maturity. That's what makes you a troll, not the fact that we had a couple of mediocre games on the way to winning the Europa League.

I call Manure Manure but I am not trolling. I call Chelscum, Chelscum too. I can see arguments for and against United's latest season, But firmly believe it will be next season when the special one has it all click for you guys and a new era of success will come to be. You certainly have a few players in the reserves, I'd love at QPR. Jealous? Kind of but not life threatening. Just whip down to your bookie and slip a $20 on United to win 2 of the three biggies.

Griezmann very unlikely given Atletico's transfer ban.

Ironically their ban is probably a good thing for them.

ok. I've hidden a few posts in here lately that are just you guys throwing personal insults at each other.

It's boring for people to read, and it adds nothing to the discussion.

I'm new to this modding thing, and I hate having to do it. If you keep making me do it, I'll pass it up to someone like Hard News who hates doing it more and will probably get banny.

But for now, maybe we could all just think before we post: does this post contribute to making the forums an enjoyable place for people to visit? Does it add to the discussion?

Which? Your comment? Nope, nothing about Man U in it but the message is a good one in regarding other items on the agenda. Over the laste 17 years I have modded on 5 sites and it can be a difficult job trying to keep an impartial balance. But it can be rewarding too, so stick with it.

First signing of a defender. Lindelof. Can't say I know much about him but if JM wants him then he must be a better bet than Smalling or Jones.

That's the same JM who signed Papy Djilobodji a couple of years ago for Chelsea.

It is the same JM that signed Drogba, Ozil, Ashley Cole and  Samuel Etoó for a start. There are plenty more.

Put it this way.  In my opinion Smalling and Jones are poor, so it would not take much to be better.

Fair point this. Bailly is already one of the best CB's in the world imo (at least the league) - so if this guy is half competent you'll be flying.

Mourinho signing Matic again?

He certainly got more out of him than Conte at Chelsea, would probably be a pretty good signing?

I think he's past his best and we'd be paying over the odds. Having said that, he could be very good in Fellaini's place in the starting midfield (Fabinho pending).

Fudge I'd pay 40m pounds just for the honour of having Fellaini retire.

I thought Fellaini was absolutely outstanding at times last season, and while he is inconsistent and much maligned by fans, he is more than deserving of a spot in the squad.

In fact, when someone talks about how useless Fellaini is I immediately assume they don't watch him play.

Preseason starts in a week, and one signing has been made. Do we panic? Is Edwood Woodwood going to get the transfers done or will Jose 'be let down by the board?'

There's an astonishing lack of Manchester United rumours going around.

Striker wise again, there's an astonishing lack of noise. Wondering if everything is waiting on Ronaldo to finish confederations cup, announce that he's made up with Real, then we'll buy Morata...

Who knows.

Lukaku to United, 75 million pounds apparently a done deal (BBC)

I am reserving thoughts on this one!

Edit:

Really blind sided me this one. Hoping we don't sign Morata and he ends up going to somewhere like Monaco for 20m just to piss of Real.

Who do Chelsea buy now? Does Costa stay? Big all round.

What does Everton go and spend their 75m on?

Skeptical. Would be a good signing IMO even for that money

Fuck this stupid game

Looks as though Lukaku is a done deal. Very happy with this, big signings out of nowhere is a great sign for the rest of the window.

They've already spent 90mio on 4 x players but still some chatter about Giroud. (Plus Rooneys wages of course)

Any of you guys using MUTV over here? I've just realised this was launched worldwide back in Feb. I was wondering how quickly the game can be watched after it has finished?

Rooney officially gone. I feel weird.

Absolute legend of the club, he'll go down as one of the greats of one of the greatest clubs in the world.

I've had the White Pele song stuck in my head for 24 hours and I wouldn't have it any other way!

That's a great bit of business you've done then, RL is an absolute beast and Rooney isn't what you need any more. For all the grief Rooney's had down the years his numbers don't lie. Was pretty lucky to see him take the all time scoring record with the penalty against Switzerland.

Everyone got a good deal in this Lukaku and Rooney deal and I have a feeling that this has been in place for a long time - as someone pointed out, Everton has already spent the money in advance. And why would Lukaku be hanging out with Pogba (so publicly) without something going on. Rooney was only going one place.

Still looks like united will pick up one more player and I hope it is a pure central midfielder. We have depth in defense and in the attacking midfield roles, so that is the one place we are lacking. I would still expect Jones or Smalling to go, unless Rojo is not going to be fit (but he is in the tour squad)

Will also be interesting as to the squad numbers for the season. Vacant numbers are:

2 - Lindelof?

7 - save for Greizmann or new midfielder

9 - Lukaku?

10 - need new CM?

13 - unlucky number, no need for more bad luck thanks

I saw Rooney play against Switzerland in Portugal in 2004 which was before he came to Utd. He scored two and although I hardly knew anything about him it was obvious that he had tremendous talent.    I also saw him score a couple against Croatia and him going off injured against Portugal in the 1/4 finals.

A great talent - hope he does well back at Everton.

Lukaku and Rooney do seem to be good deals for all involved. Rooney really only had one place to go if he was going to stay in England, great move for him and Everton I think. Will be interesting to see how Koeman uses him there.

Excellent upgrade for you guys getting Lukaku.

I'm not sure it's a great move for Everton. Koeman likes to press opposition and is assembling a young, quick team, so Rooney doesn't have an obvious role in his plans. But then you would think he would be being paid so much and have such a pedigree that he should be starting for them and won't be happy bench warming. I will be interested to see how Koeman manages this
