Just reading international reports on soccernet, Van Persie limped off with a twisted knee on the hour. lets hope it is not too bad. why does he get injured coming back into form! argh.

DAmit just when we need him heading into the BIG games against man u and liver arrrrrrh. Silva and ade might have to do the business. On a side note Thierry Henry broke Michel Platini's national goalscoring, not sure if anyone cares but he's a gunner legend so thats why i put it in here

sh*t I hope he's alright.

yeah I read that. A one minute brace isn't bad at all. It was quiite good of Henry to come out and admit that he was holding back Arsenal towards the end of his stay. It is now rather obvious the influence he had when this season came.

And RVP,well im guttered - to say the least. but ade is in great form at the moment and will be causing problems im sure. I hope the dutch coach was being precautionary and did not want to damage him any further. i hope.

Well, this could be Eduardo's chance now. I reckon he wil start vs bolton and we will play 4 -5-1  with rosicky, hleb, fabregas, eboue and flamini in midfield,. Its a good thing gallas is back from injury as senderos got injured on international duty.

As a side note - How come no -one told us Hleb was a psycic.
He called the Russian game precisely.

That sucks a fat 1, he is a big game match winner, he's out for a month and then it will take him a couple of weeks to get back to his best arrrrh Eduardo could become a instant fan fav if he can score a match against man u or liver  . On a brighter on Denilson has signed a long term contract, i rate him very highly he has a good all around game, Also Fabergas is rated the best mid in the comp on a eurosport poll

What makes you think it won't be Ade and the Crozillian upfront?

I really don't think Rosicky will start. He is likely to get 30 mins from the bench. And if we play a 4-4-2 why would hleb miss out? He's been outstanding lately. I predict;

Lehmann, sagna, toure, gallas, clichy, eboue, flamini, fabregas, diaby, hleb, adebayor

4-5-1 with hleb sitting in behind adebayor - so more like a 4-4-1-1

and rosicky in for diaby on the 60 mark. Plus eduardo in for hleb, and gilberto on for gallas or flamini, depending on the state of the game and injuries...

pretty spot on there paulm, could throw diarra in the mid as well its pretty good, i rate him quiet highly. Its funny how he started for france a weeks of ago but was only on the bench for us. i think he was man of the match in that game

Very good point there... I had completely forgotten about diarra when i wrote that - f*ck we've got some serious depth!

P.S. Im writing in italics and i don't know how or why...

With diarra there we have a ridiculous amount of quality midfielders. Really makes me believe the rumour that Gilberto is being permanently converted to centre back. That would be a good move i think. If there's one thing we lack it is experience. With him, toure and gallas at the back we are in good hands.

Plus it extends his playing career with us as his pace drops with age.

yeah the amount of class youths we have at the moment is crazy, to add to the mid in future would be fran merida, hes a spainish youngster from barcelona as well hehehe i read on somesite that carlos vela should be coming back in jan???? as now he has a spainish passport so he doesnt need work permit

And also about merida. Is he playing Carling Cup yet?

Merdia should be in there this year, i think he's 17. he was part of the spain u17, he was awesome at the euro u17. they won euro and came 2nd in world cup

Against Bolton at home you'd start one up front? I'd like to see Eduardo given a start in such a situation.

And Rosicky is much better on the left then Diaby (although admittedly he might not be full strength at the moment - sub him for fresh legs  later in the game).

Should have specified, the team i predicted is what i think will run out - not what i would necessarily prefer. Personally i would like to have two up front with bendtner getting a start. I like the look of him and want to see him in action...

I think we'll go for one up front simply because eduardo is short of a run and wenger probably wouldn't chuck bendtner out there. But the 4-5-1 aint so bad - hleb would basically be a second striker and we have so much creativity in midfield that I don't doubt we'd have plenty of chances on goal. And it would probably allow Flamini to basically man-mark anelka, thus shutting him out of the game... I think flamini is that good...

But hey, you may well be right as eduardo did get a run and a goal for croatia. My word defnitely aint gospel as i have found many times

Hey fellow arsenal fans... was a little curious so i youtubed fabianski, and oh my f*cking god the guy looks exceptional.

Check this link out;

He is big, strong and tall. He has great reflexes and can save well even when wrong-footed. But what impresses me most in this particular link is his ability to hold the ball. So many of the saves he makes would be parries by so many other keepers but he manages to hold them. From this video i would say he is world class - the only thing we can't see is his tactical nous - decision making on coming out or staying back and his general positional play. And also his communication with the defence. My guess is that wenger has seen some exceptional talent and arsenal are now training him on the rest of his game. I pick that this guy might really be the goods in seasons to come. Just watch the link, it's off the planet...

Yea just read that on soccernet this morning too - that would be cool! I've been looking forward to seeing him play a striking role. He was good in the carling cup there last year...

First half was pretty dire but we came good in the second for a well-deserved 2-0 victory. I'd hate to see that negative, sh*t football that Bolton play against us rewarded.

Negatives: Adebayor had a shocker, Eduardo was pretty ineffective (bar one good run/pass combo). And Eboue really should have buried the opportunity he was presented with.

Positives: How good did Walcott look?! Clichy is amazing and that strike from Toure was simply brilliant.

Bring on Liverpool.

For me player of the day was Hleb. He is having a wicked season. Ade and Cesc were not looking hot, especially Ade. This is not too much of a concern if we can still get a decent result against those dirty (#$@!). L'pool and Manure will be some awesome and hard games. Im expecting if Ade is training well he will be popped up front by himself with Hleb in behind. Otherwise I'd expect a similar squad with Rosicky starting this time.

On another note - Walcott - He made the best impact I have seen from him in a while if not ever. Man he has pace!!

Agreed on the hleb front. He was outstanding. I do wonder if diaby may have been valuable for us in a game like that. He is big and strong and  I think he excels when the game gets physical. Poor old hleb - he certainly takes his share of hits, hes had some nasty ones this season, good to see it hasn't injured him.

I thought Eduardo was particularly poor in the game, didn't really show up. Ade wasn't the greatest but still held the ball up well when it was played long. Didn't think much of eboue's performance either. The back four were good though - sagna is very consistent and clichy had a cracking second half. Fab wasn't quite his usual self, but flamini got through a mountain of work as usual. Rosicky and especially walcott were both excellent when they came on. Also thought Toure and gallas were good at the back - except our inability to prevent davies from heading down every single long ball - we never seemed to be able to get in front of that guy.

Overall though i was quite happy - these are the games we would lose or draw over the alst two seasons, we have certainly matured and we aren't letting that happen anymore. Great to see. Bring on Liverpool - 2-0 at anfield i reckon. Torres to get cut down by a brilliant toure tackle... Gerrard's passing game to be completely dwarfed by fab's... Ade to crack in a stunning 20 yard volley...

what i love, is that he doesnt take a dive when his ankles are always getting hacked at! he would crawl on his knees to get back the ball - great stuff!

I agree with the header situation, it seems to be a problem we have had for a while now. not too extreme at this point though. Excelling in other areas makes up for that defence.  I was well impressed with Sagna also, he is a very cool player and seems to be fitting in very well. For the amount he got picked on, he done well to still challenge and get that final ball thru most times. As paulm said, Eduardo was fairly quiet. Im going to be typical and call this the change of league syndrome. He can and does play well for country - its a mater of time at Arsenal me thinks.

Im happy Flamini is having a good time this season - his frustration last season was evident, and I even had my spells of disliking the guy... but boy is he a workhorse. He understands how much pressure for position there is in central midfield at Arsenal, and is showing he is a top choice for it. keep it up!

I know it has already been said it, but Toure - he must be the most underatedl defender around!
some of the work he does amazes me - being a lowly defender myself.

Think we will see a young squad playing Slavia tuesday (UK) night. Play a few of the leaders in the postions and let the young'ns feed off them. Thnen  keep the rest of the boys fresh for Anfield.

Gutted i missed the match(dont ask). Sounded like we draged it out a bit. I heard ade missed a sitter??? Playing liverpool at anfield is gona be hard but i'm sure we can do it, i'm predicting 2-1 score line. Classly finish by rosicky. Theo is made big impacts in the last 2 games for us, i think we should leave him on the bench for the big games he can be our x factor, good to see him not trying to do too much. Toure should keep up the long range shots, he has a pretty good shot on him. On a side note just two of their next 10 matches will be played on home turf this will be hard

I think the Bolton game was the best I've seen all season so far, in terms of how the team went about getting the result. We showed so much more maturity, confidence, and calmness than any other time this season. Bolton tried really hard to wind our players up, but other than a few flair ups we behaved ourselves. we were patient and waited for the opportunity to score to come. We seem to have picked up Man U's trick of not playing our best game and still winning. Thats what man u did all season last year. they just played there game and knew that results would come. It seems to be a lot easier to stay at the top, than to try and catch up.

I agree Uber, that game was well fought. Bolton are physically tough against teams like Arsenal. The fact they had only one shot, that was off target is a sign of back four being up their with the best in the league at the moment. Cant wait for Anfield.

Nicely said ubergunner. You're dead on there.

I think we're definitely up for the Anfield mission. Do you think we'll revert to a 4-5-1 for it? Seemed to have been our plan in the big away games last season and it certainly worked. Isn't too much of a step backwards as we still create a heap of chances with only a lone striker. I think Adebayor certainly excels a bit when that responsibility is thrust upon him too - he scored some vital goals last year. He needs to step up further now with Van Persie not around for this trying period, and he is most defnitely capable of that I think. I too think walcott will continue to make further impact off the bench ripthajacka. He is getting better every game that passes. How long will he keep improving? Could be a real star there - can't wait to see him move into the middle of the park. He was a wee bit more central in the bolton match, and wenger is hinting at him moving into a striking role very soon - reeks of henry's development as a youngster...

First half was complete dominance from Arsenal. We could easily have been more than 3-0 up.

I was disappointed I had to come to work and consequently miss the second half - they were looking great.
