i don;t think moving will guarantee anything. Liverpool have as much chance of winning a major trophy now as Barca or Real do. If he just wants trophies, his agents should be door knocking at Bayern or PSG.

You forgot the pretext: "As a LFC fan...". The rest of us would likely disagree - and I do.

Yep good point and Torres has won the CL and the Europa with Chelsea, but he will be forgotten by the club pretty quickly I would have thought.  I wonder what legacy someone like Stevie G (trying to think of other players who stuck to one club) will leave. He will always be known as a Liverpool legend to any supporter of the club.

Yup, if you are loyal to a club and give your all you tend to be well remembered. I'd rather be Luis Garcia who gets invited back to every Liverpool FC event, testimonial and still associates with the club even after being sold than I would a Torres who has more burnt bridges than medals.

"So Grandad, tell me about your footballing career... why do you still spend so much time watching Liverpool and get invited to every event they hold?..."

Seldom would any agent in the history of football ever suggest a player to stay at a club when an offer was on the table. They dont call them Mr 20% for nothing...

Suarez didnt have the chance to leave last year.

Arsenal bid came in and met his buyout clause, Suarez was ready to come, but Henry just put the foot down, said no and waited for possible legal consequences. They never came.

Any other owner than Henry and Suarez would've been in an Arsenal shirt last season.

Why is QPR being linked with Rio F? You'd have thought they would have learn't from their policy of buying over the hill players? Even if he's cheap I don't understand this particularly as he regularly makes an arse of himself on twitter.

Looks like Suarez has exercised a clause in his contract for getting sold by being a bitey idiot. (I assuming their is one as Liverpool would have been fools not to put one in his latest deal considering he has form)

I can't figure it Fortean either.  They wank on about lessons being learned but they haven't learned a friggen thing. And why does Redknapp have this woody for over 33 year old injury prone has beens looking for a last big pay day? It is pissing a few QPR fans off.

I wish he would. I'm sick of QPR signing mercenaries looking for a big pay day. That's what got us relegated last time. Obviously lessons were not learned despite what Tony Fernandes is telling fans.

UNITED AND SPURS WANT TO SIT DOWN WITH JAMES  Like night follows day, a Premier League transfer rumour follows a good performance at the World Cup. In recent days we have had Islam Slimani, Enner Valencia and Divock Origi, and today brings news that Colombia star James Rodriguez is being targeted by Spurs and Manchester United.

That's the line in the Evening Standard, who believe the two Premier League clubs will fight over the Monaco winger, with pre-tournament rumours in France suggesting Rodriguez would be open to a move away from the principality.

One relevant point to make here is that whilst James will presumably be much in demand post-Brazil, Monaco did shell out £35million for him last summer and he is only 22, so he presumably won't come that cheap.

One suspects that Spurs won't be paying £50m+ for one player, but we might be wrong.

CITY WIN MANGALA RACE   It's a transfer that has seemingly been dragging on since January without ever being high-profile enough to merit saga status. It seems now that, finally, Eliaquim Mangala's deal to join Manchester City may be close to completion.

Portuguese paper Record reports that City and Porto have agreed a €45million fee for the central defender. There is still a nagging doubt, however, namely that until Mangala has only ever mentioned wanting to join Chelsea.

"There have been discussions with Manchester City, but the clubs did not reach an agreement," he said last season. City or Chelsea? Chelsea, because it is London."

Time to move the Etihad to London, chaps.

SUAREZ BARCA MOVE COULD STILL HAPPEN  Given his slight indiscretion on Tuesday evening, one might think that Liverpool's move to Barcelona would be off, but El Mundo Deportivo believe that it could still be on the cards.

Their story is typically vague on the actual details, but claim that despite his latest biting incident bringing his reputation once again into disrepute, Barcelona would not necessarily be put off from making a move.

If they do you suspect that Liverpool should bite their hand off, if you'll excuse the pun.

That seemed to knock the stuffing out of him and he was never the same afterwards, (the press dontcha love um) - not the most gifted LB, not in the same class as Ashely Cole but a shame. Thought he would have come to the A league or MLS.

…and the goss is.

  • Dirk Kuyt to Man Yoo (really?!) and possibly Carvalho as well for 37.5m (that’ll be close to 100m spent already for the coming season)
  • Lallana has completed a medical in Liverpool with an announcement due this week
  • Suarez will be subject of a significant bid from Barca, rumoured to be in the realms of 80m quid or 50m + Sanchez.
  • Real Madrid was Begovic to replace Casillas
  • Lampard will play for Melbourne City FC in the upcoming A-League season

While trying to ship Johnson. The problem is that Johnson's wages are too high meaning teams will be put off for an average right back.

Liverpool are likely to keep him another year and let him go end of next season. Probably a good idea with more depth needed and Johnson does have CL experience that we will require.

Found a Twitter account that seems to be from a football agent in the UK. Have checked his history and by god, he gets a lot right!

There’s a bit of stuff on his Twitter feed for various players

  • Barca & LFC bigwigs have met after LFC board getting the green light from the owners to sell Suarez for the right price. Barca initial offer was 60m which was turned down and they came back with 70m, also likely to be turned down. LFC currently value Suarez at 80m and those other two offers have not included a player swap. It is believed that if Sanchez will move, LFC will take 55m + the player. However, it sounds like Sanchez is not convinced of a LFC move and his preference is AFC. Sanchez feels annoyed that Barca want to dictate where he goes so he’s being difficult (which I think is fair).
  • Evra has asked Man Yoo to release him so that he can move to Juve and it is still under consideration from LvG and Man U.
  • Newcastle have signed Ajax captain De Jong
  • Monaco will not let World Cup star James Rodriguez from Colombia go for anything less than 90m (are you kidding?!? He’s scored a couple of decent goals!)
  • Michu has passed a medial at Napoli and looks set to leave the EPL
  • Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Divock Origi from Lille (the guy currently playing up top for Belgium at the WC). Apparently the deal involves LFC loaning him back to Lille for the coming season.
  • LvG is chasing Mats Hummels as Man Yoo 1st choice CB
  • Shaqiri has agreed terms with Liverpool, clubs just need to agree on a price now (er…just agree on a price?)

Rodriguez, Monaco only signed him last year for $40 million on a 5 year deal. He is also only 22, and lead the league for assists last year

Would LFC even want Sanchez having just bought Lallana? Would think they'd want the cash and they can go and buy who they actually want. The  LFC aren't having a player forced upon them, and Sanchez isn't being shipped off without his choice.

But mainly, all I took from that was he prefered AFC. This is great news, if that A stands for Arsenal and not just Another Football Club.

I think Sanchez would be seen as a straight replacement for Suarez up top, wouldn't be competing with Lallana. Scores almost every other game, so not bad numbers especially in a team that currently has Messi taking a lion share of the chances offered up.

  • Bertrand wants a move to Liverpool (…and has actually come out and said it), plus Lovren and Lazar Markovitc are a work in progress.
  • Alexis Sanchez prefers a move to Arsenal over LFC
  • Man Yoo to pay 45m for Arturo Vidal while Fellaini & Zaha will be on their way out. Fellaini, Man Yoo’s Andy Carroll.
  • Barca have agreed a fee with Liverpool for Suarez of 75.5m but rumours of a last minute Real Madrid offer of 90m have been rumoured.

At Real his competition would be Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema. If Sanchez leaves Barca, competition for starting spots is Messi, Neymar and most likely Pedro/Tello.

Benzema will go I would think. Suarez is a bigger star than Benzema and even Bale (for now) and would go straight to the #2 spot. He would fit into Real system of 4-2-3-1 a lot better as well compared to Barcas 4-1-2-3

At Barca, he would never be bigger than Messi or Neymar is the Prince in waiting. Tello will be on his way out I imagine.

Real Madrid are ready to re-enter the race to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez with Bernabeu president Florentino Perez prepared to fork out a world record fee to land the Uruguayan ahead of arch rivals Barcelona.

Perez had initially opted to pull out of the race for the Uruguayan, not because of his latest unsavoury incident but because he was looking to raid Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for Colombian pair Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.

However moves to sign the duo have hit the buffers with the principality club not willing to entertain the loss of their two most pivotal performers, not with a return to the Champions League having been secured.

Barcelona had appeared to be in the driving seat and it’s thought that Suarez may prefer a move to the Nou Camp, however Liverpool are keen to see a bidding war erupt in pursuit of a player they are ready to sell.

Carlo Ancelotti has been looking to land a striker who can more ably fill a central striking role than current first choice forward Karim Benzema and the Italian is open to a move for Suarez despite the fact that the 27 year old will miss the opening months of the campaign following FIFA’s decision to hit the former Ajax man with a four month ban for biting Italian international Giorgio Chiellini.

Real Madrid, and indeed Barcelona, will both look to have that ban reduced once they sign the Premier League hot-shot though Liverpool have made their mind up to cash-in on Suarez regardless of such an appeal.

Liverpool’s American owners have elected to sell Suarez after his latest indiscretion and are now simply looking to get the best deal possible for his services.

Barcelona’s decision to try to keep the cost of such a deal down by offering Chilean Alexis Sanchez in a part-exchange deal has given Real Madrid the chance to re-assert their financial dominance over their La Liga rivals.

Indeed that financial dominance will also see Real Madrid offer Suarez a better paying contract than their Catalan rivals also.

Barcelona’s contract offer would have made Suarez the club’s fourth highest earner behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta whereas Real Madrid are ready to offer a deal that would leave him second only to Balon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid will table a €120m (£95m) bid for Suarez in the coming days and are confident that will lead Barcelona to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Club president Perez has no qualms about offering such a fee and sees the deal as an investment that will be more than repaid in commercial activity with kit sales alone likely to cover a significant portion of the outlay.

Real Madrid set the world record transfer fee both in 2009 when they paid Man United £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo and last summer when they spent £85m on Tottenham winger Gareth Bale and having secured their coveted ‘Decima’, their tenth European Cup/Champions League triumph, the Spanish capital side are keen to issue a real statement of intent this summer.

Suarez finished as the Premier League’s top scorer, his tally of 31 some ten goals ahead of his nearest rival, and the South American is arguably the most in-form player in world football at present and as such is a player Real Madrid are willing to pay handsomely for.

Ancelotti will be encouraged to sell a number of first team squad members to help cover a portion of the cost with the likes of Isco, Angel di Maria, Iker Casillas and Karim Benzema likely to be offloaded for fairly high sums.
