Terrible
(The not-so-temporary quite-official) Gooner Thread (Part 1)
On a hiding to nothing now but I'd argue the first 20 minutes is the very best football Arsenal has played for some time. Great to watch and both YS and MO should of scored, SC needed to make a better decision. Good to see us really take it (and outplay) Europe's elite. Just needed another 70 minutes.....
Red Card, well clearly a penalty. Maybe WS a little hard done by but players get sent from that situation all the time.
Only 1 sub left so it's going to be a tough last 45. Surprised SC went off instead of another couple of options. 0-0 will certainly feel like a massive win. Come on!
E's Flat Ah's Flat Too
I kind of agree, but if last season is anything to go by, Wenger will be heading to Munich with no intention other than to go for it. I think Bayern will be much smarter to it this time around though.
Show them a video of the first 15 mins before sending them out.
ha ha
no other option now
and FWIW any other EPL club would have conceded 5-6 today. For the most part the Arsenal side had great games
how good was Kos, massive effort.
funny how it goes - pretty terrible v Liverpool who also played far better football than us = a 2-1 win
play a heap better v Bayern and lose.

We played well for 30 mins but needed to score. Good effort defensively and Sanogo did well considering not much was expected of him. Should have kept on the Ox and taken off Ozil.
Seems like just another season of the same to me though I'll reserve that till after the 2nd leg.
Couldn't agree more Paulm, missed Arteta for that. I would have preffered Cazorla took it, but the lads will have their reasons.
Personally I think if you're going into the 'letter of the law' both players who gave away peno's should have been given reds. Cutting Ozil down prevented an even better goal scoring opportunity than Robben would have had.
Disappointed we conceded the 2nd. At that stage of the game I don't think it was wise of Koscielny to be bombing forward for free kicks barely into their half. Oh well, we know what we need to do, 2-0 doesn't look as daunting. Just hope today didn't cost us too much in terms of injuries.
Oh and is anyone else a bit mixed about Sanogo? The kid looks strong and powerful, but his finishing in the box/final touch seems very rough and almost awkward.
the touch, turn and chip over the top to the Ox showed there's some good vision and technique there
He's very very raw but I'm much more excited about him than I was a week ago.
He's shown me more than I expected in two rather massive games to be making your first two starts in
Neuer and Ozil in the same youth team... wonder if ozil took his penos the same way back then?
What, poorly?
That was one of the worst I've watched this season, he didn't put any power behind it, nor put it into any danger areas.
What has happened to Ozil?
He reminds me of Gervinho is regards to confidence being so important to his play. He seems to play inside himself a bit after making a mistake, rather than just move on. It seems like Wenger thinks the same by not subbing him off, wrapped in cotton wool and all that. He needs a rest too, hopefully this weekend. I read that last season in La Liga, with a xmas break as well, he played 2000 minutes over the season. He's already around 1800 for Arsenal with what, 12 games remaining?
Hopefully he's on the bench this weekend and only brought in if needed. Podolski and Giroud to start. Wouldn't mind a sub appearance from Sanogo, if he's feeling alright after 90 minutes against the European Champions.
On the penalty, I'm not sure it's thaaaaat bad. I mean yeah, it's crap, but the keeper not completely committing to his dive meant he could save it. Messi went right down the middle vs City (albeit with more power) but because Hart had committed to getting right in to the corner, he couldn't get to his shot.
It's a crap penalty, just not sure it's worth the amount of grief it is getting in the media. They also missed a penalty. Shark happens. It just so happened to be one of the most important misses he could have made, but he's only 1 of 11 players on a field there to rectify that.
My problem is the indecision. You go for power or precision. He opted for precision and didn't put it top corner. If you're going down the middle then go down the middle, don't put it to the left or right because you make it damn savable. Urgh. Expect better.
bit gutted with the result but we have nothing to lose in germany and i think getting knocked out might be a blessing for us, we just dont have the squad to complete on 3 fronts. Good to hear sanogo went alright, we will need him in the run in. Bit gutted about Ozil but i'm sure he'll shine next season once he's used to the epl.
go gunners
My fav was a vine of Flamini getting in Alaba's face after the miss.
I went on a hunt but can't find a gif, and can't watch video at work. Did find one of Flamini yelling at Ozil.
I kind of imagine Flamini just yells at all times. Like "JUST AN ESPRESSO PLEASE!!".

We say this about this time every season when we're on the verge of getting knocked out and how it'll help with our race for 4th.
If we're going to boss it we've got to get the squad and the courage to take on the EPL, the FA Cup, and the rest of Europe.
Paulm I haven't seen that footage of Flamini v Ozil, where is it?
I do love 'em, watching him live during the derby at The Emirates this year is one of my favorite off the ball memories, he was so pumped.

I don't understand the 'lazy' comments he has been getting. Yes he might not be as tenacious as same JW or AOC at getting the ball back when he gives it away, but he does put in the yards.
I really do hope he has a good few weeks building his confidence back up with more goals and assists. That said if we have to wait until next season to see him peaking I'm still happy.
Team for tomorrow, I'm guessing:
Szy
Sagna* Mertesacker Koscielny Monreal
Arteta Flamini
AOC Cazorla Podolski
Giroud
When he says 'rotate' you truly have no idea about who will back up, although he's all but confirmed Giroud will start.
I'd also love to see Sagna get a break but given the arial threat Sunderland normally produce I'd rather have him in.
