Must have been his debut against NZ that kicked him onto bigger and better things.

Will say, I had doubted the club up until today around transfers and all their talk. With this signing made very early and the significance of signing one of the top 5(?) forwards in the world I am starting to believe we have turned a corner and happy to be proved wrong.

Khedira and Debuchy hopefully wrapped up soon too.

Sounds like the kit launch was underwhelming, you lot were so excited about that lol. Good signing though, must say I am jealous that LFC weren't able to sign him.

Been thinking about it and to me this feels a lot bigger than the Özil deal. As stunned as I was with the Özil deal it felt like was last minute and more opportune, not necessarily someone for a position we needed. This time around feels so deliberate and organised.

Completely agree with this. This signing was pragmatic (if Sp*rs fans are reading this pragmatic means 'well thought out') and quite targetted. Ozil smelled of 'faaaaaaaaark I've got shedloads to spend and I really need a striker and I've farked up Higuain and Bitey Guy so far so I'll just have to spend 40m + on whatever is available'. Still a great signing and this season will see these puzzle pieces fall into place. I still say the All Blacks's psych coach, Enoka, should still be the next addition!!

How old is Leggy?  Is he 12 or 72?

New kit is alright for a puma kit. I'll be getting it for sure just need to decide on home or away kit...and hit the gym for obvious reasons :)

Also really really really really really exited about Sanchez signing and how nuch he adds to the team both on the flank and up front.

Ready for the world cup to finish and the EPL to start now!!

Absolutely. Ozil kind of fell into our lap on deadline day as they needed to sell after buying Bale, and we needed someone big having not signed anyone and had a terrible start to the season, and plus noone else seemed to be interested. This feels different because the player has increased his stock even more with a great World Cup and we beat other clubs to him - something we never usually do when other clubs become involved as Wenger will never enter a bidding war. And we did it at the start of pre-season which is another major change. Also feels nice to be on the receiving end of an Arsenal-Barcelona transfer deal for once!

Anyway doesn't look like you can get the new kit in Wellington today. Just back from a walk down to Cuba Street and Stirling Sports Willis Street have no football team shirts, Rebel Cuba Street have no Puma team shirts and Football Central don't have it yet but said it should arrive very soon and they will hopefully have it next week.

So Mandzukic signed for Atletico overnight as well...

Imagine the angst round here if we hadn't got Sanchez!

Just been browsing the Arsenal online shop long sleeved away kit is sexy as!

Really tempted to get L/S away kit and S/S home (savings won't be). It also said on their site that the shirts are regular fit which I guess means they fit nice without needing abs

Just had a look on goal.com where they have a article on wengers most expensive buys and to be honest there are more flops in that list than successes. I hope sanchez + ozil change that this yr!!

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Seems like Debuchy is a done deal, so really just needing the additions in DMF, GK and CB (I think a youngster is required if Vermaelen stays, an experienced CB will be needed too).

Ironically arsene's best signings have been his cheapest ones lol

But there's no doubting his eye for a player. If you stack him up against all the top managers his record would look pretty darned good.

I like the for the second transfer window in a row we have profited from our rivals being weakened. Both Ozil and Sanchez bring so much to the squad, and they helped fund exits from the EPL for Suarez and Bale. Good result.

Next signing I want to see announced is RB. Although I still think we need a CB/GK we're signing cover so can afford to start them closer to the start of the season as pre-season won't be as important, and the DMF can be covered by Arteta/Flamini to start the season.

Speaking of DMF where do you see Jack long term? Best case for the team from my perspective is Jack and Ramsey starting behind Ozil, with Jack there to tackle and cover, while Ramsey makes deep runs and Ozil pulls the strings. Although I feel like Jack isn't there yet and is more becoming Ramsey's back up for the box to box role. I think this is a crucial season for Jack, if he doesn't establish himself this year the club will be justified to start questioning his viability for the long run.

Now that's funny.

crikey.

re: Khedira's wages I'd probably prefer Bender. And still expect Schneiderlin to come in from Southhampton

Debuchy still not announced. I'm getting itchy about that one.

And I see arsenal.com has updated their squad list on the website. Monreal has no number... why?

Campbell has been listed as a first teamer now - but also no number.

Because they haven't picked them yet. I'm assuming Campbell hasn't pitched up at London Colney yet, and Monreal could well be waiting to see if another squad number comes up. He may be privy to news about an exit that we haven't heard about? Or simply waitng for Debuchy to pick a number before he chooses.

Not sure I'd want to walk around with a shirt that had Bender printed on the back :)
