That was ridiculous. 5 minutes to go I couldn't see where a goal was going to come from, so that was surprising. Undeserved, but glad for it nonetheless!

You guys should talk to Frankie Mac, he lived in the Highbury apartments for a while.

Also you guys should have a listen to the latest Tuesday club podcast where they talk to Amy Lawrence (gooner journo) who recently released a book about the Invincibles. Great listen, and my birthday gift from the Mrs sorted out.

Yeah started listening to that on the bus this morning. Highly recommend the Tuesday Club anyway if you want a good Arsenal podcast to listen to.

Sunderland have signed a 34 year old free agent on a short term contract to cover their defensive injuries. There are free agents like this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Yobo out there who would do a job for us. Why oh why are we not signing people in times like this?!

Kieran Gibbs :(

I miessef that game. But it sounds like it was a pokey win.

What's happened to gibbs?

Hip injury I think. Hurt in first half and forced him off in the second. Will have to wait and see about him.

Unconvincing win, happy with 3 points and a clean sheet though.

We weren't much good, but a win is a win and we desperately needed one. Was a bit worried at 1-0 as we didn't really look like scoring again and it would only have taken one corner or deflection or something to give up the lead, but LOL at Mannone. Sanchez is immense, shudder to think where we could be now without him. Rewriting the rules about "adapting" to a new league.

Always a silver lining I guess - Monreal won't be at CB any more.

We're down to our final back 4, that's mental. January is too far away for us, I guess we must have some youth players coming through like Hayden that'll be seeing some game time! Just as we're getting our forwards & midfielders back our defenders all drop out gah!!

So Monreal/Per/Chambers/Bellerin now,,?

Jeez that is going to struggle

Inexcusable that we're in this situation in October. Although I preferred the idea of Bellerin at RB and Chambers at CB to Monreal at CB. Should be an improvement there.

I'd agree with that, at least Bellerin brings some much needed pace to that back line.

More rumours linking us with Reid today, I still think it'd be a corker of a signing, and we'd go back to the defender levels we had last year.

What's your lads thoughts on how a squad should shape up?

Should you look to have a minimum of 1 deep in each position, so in our formation 2 RB's, 2 LB's, and 4 CB's?

Rumours that Gibbs will be fine for burnley

Great news

Paulm! So good to see you in here, your wisdom is missed :-) Gibbs is great news indeed!

Great news if it's not a big injury. If he's not quite 100% though you'd like to think he may not need to be risked at home to Burnley.

HeyZeus we better pummel Burnley

Brumby a I think we have 5 'proper ' fullbacks. Most seasons it is probable that is enough. Major issue was lack of DM and CB signings. But I am a broken record about this so will give it a rest.

Paul did a  first XI and second XI scenario at the top of the season. Overall player depth looked good, aside from the 2 problems listed above.

What is Coquelin up to? I would like to see him in ahead of both Arteta and Flamini now.

Didn't the coq go out on loan?

The coq is still around. Interestingly Zelalem and Hayden are listed as first teamers. I wonder how long until Hayden gets a run, I suppose we're one injury away from finding out.

Just listened to the Tuesday clubs podcast on the invincibles. Wow. I wanna get that book and watch the movie. Hearing the names and games again just brought back so many memories.

Rumours around for this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grzegorz_Krychowiak

Would be a typical Wenger signing, cheap, can do the job, possibly a future legend or future flop.

Why he doesn't just splash the money on W Carvalho I don't know!

How about this for a goal from Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the U21s the other day.

Team for the weekend? Given we don't have any mid week action I'd be starting our strongest 11 and hoping the gaffer brings off the stars early in the 2nd half because we don't want to lose momentum with 2 on the trot.

                            Szy

Bellerin Chambers Mertesacker Monreal

                        Arteta

 Sanchez Wilshere Ramsey Cazorla

                       Welbeck

Subs: Martinez, Flamini, Hayden, Rosicky, Podolski, Campbell, Ox

Yep, team picks itself this week. Don't forget Theo though, he should be on the bench again. Wouldn't it be nice to have the points wrapped up with 15 minutes to go so we could bring him on for a no pressure run?

Campbell

Straight into the 11 for Cazorla or Wilshere once fully fit.

Permalink Permalink

Think Cazorla is crucial for us playing any kind of passing game with Ozil out; no way will he be dropped.

Wilshere out a slight knee injury or something

Permalink Permalink

Just read that KG19. Rather than start Flamini I think given recent form Id start Podolski & bring Cazorla into the middle. Rosicky/The Ox may have a claim But they haven't been anywhere near last years form.

just had a chicken balti from Piebury Corner - a bit small and not enough balti sauce in it. I give it 4/10 and stand by my statement that chicken balti pies should only be bought when up north
