How did Gio look in the last few minutes?

Edit: Me too - Some nice parallels with the Nix re strong last season and core squad retained. Starting off with a draw is OK too!

Speedy and tricky - any full back should be sh*t scared at the prospect of Lennon followed by Gio running at them. Lennon needs some serious competition to help improve his final ball (which was pretty good tonight)and Gioi is the man for that - when can we get Bentley off our books?

Solid start by the boys

If we play like this for the season we will demo some teams and really push the top ones

Needs a right foot.

Three for me, and two for them.

Scored a couple of crackers with his right foot last season...shame about today's scuff though!

Not strictly true.

Hairdryer time. I assume Lennon and Crouch might be given a run?

I really cannot see why Pav and Gio get to start what is one of the most significant games in recent Hisory for Spurs. I'm really hurting at the moment.

Havin seen their goals now, I can only say that Bassong needs to score at least one more if he is to redeem himself. Shocking.

Just about to watch delayed coverage on ESPN - would like to think we'll win at home and progress but after today's nightmare start and a few injuries I'm not so sure

3-0 at the Lane next week.

I bet Arry puts out the first team as well.

our game is not suited to plastic surfaces either..
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
some of that defending needs more than a change of surface

'arry will sort em out. Plus the next game is at whl. I think young boys used the advantage of being unknown and having the aritificial turf to full effect...

I'd have Lennon, Hudds (starting), King (in a perfect knee swelling free world), and Crouch (I know, I know)in the starting XI.

But you are quite right DR to suggest it was hardly a second string...HarryHotspur2010-08-18 17:33:08

Can you really see Crouchie smashing in that goal of Pav's last night?! Although, that said at the moment I'd rather have him than Defoe - he just hasn't seemed with it at all yet. Agree 100% with the rest though, don't think it's a coincidence that our better results (Arsenal/Chelsea/Man City) last season were with Hudd & Modric in c/m....

Definately  Hudd and Modric, with Keane and Defoe up front.

I like Crouch coming off the bench late.

King if OK.

No, I couldn't see Crouch doing what Pav did at the end, but I could see him getting on the end of some of Bale's crosses which Defoe and Pav didn't. It is an open question as to which of Pav and Defoe, Crouch replaces, as like you I think Defoe needs a shake up.

@ WHL - I think Keane runs around like a headless chicken with a poor touch at the moment. HarryHotspur2010-08-19 12:02:09

Its still early in the season I suppose.

I am rapt to see Keano back, I think he will be good for 14-16 goals this year.

Yep, agree that Pav masked his poor game with that goal. Interesting to see this, may explain Defoe's poor form/lack of sharpness since the World Cup.

Re Keane, I think you're pretty much spot on too. Would rather have got Eider back for another yr, but guessing Robbie will stay now he's cup-tied.
