In my recent game (Huddersfield) i set the lowest possible goals (Playoff ) and was sitting in 13th when i was sacked, 34 games in. Sure we weren't doing great but come on. Give me a season minimum to clear the deadwood out, bring in new players in the summer and get the team completely used to my tactics.

Just a little frustrating as in every previous version of FM i have played i was always given at least 1-2 seasons to get things right, even if the 1st season was total sh*te.

maybe you need to re look at the tactics, and start winning.

Maybe if the board gave me more time we would start winning.

The one game i had so far where the board were actually patient with me, in the second season we finished with twice as many points as the year before and reached a cup final.

Tbf you are probably right in terms of tactics. I still have a lot to learn in regard to tactics on 11. Usually i try create three different formations/tactics at a time, 1 is very specific and detailed (the main one), and the other 2 are just backups for if i need them and tend to be very simplistic.

Been looking round the web for tips in this area. Never downloaded a tactic and will continue not to, but i think i need a little help while i'm still getting used to 11. Because it's no fun playing FM if you're rubbish or doing rubbish at it.

Try pushing your wingers up to AML/R. Tends to work really well for a few sides.

I play so narrow I could be the Victory.  4-1-3-2.  Don't even sign midfielders who can't play central.

I did early seasons have a back up 4-4-2 option but the wingers got the hump when they only got 5 games a season.

I do exactly this with the Nix, push Toto up into AML and Ifill into AMR, works great for crossing it into the two Striker's I bought that are amazing at heading.

Another solution if you don't want to leave a huge amount of space behind the wingers (prime counter-attack territory) you can try increasing the mentality of you wingers to full attacking or pretty close. This gets them bombing up to the byline frequently but because their starting position is a bit deeper it closes the spaces on the flank when you don't have the ball.

Started a game on my laptop (getting too cold on the PC in the other room), playing in the scottish 3rd division as an amateur club. It's pretty interesting not paying any wages!

Brave. You could quite easily pick a side expected to come top and lead them to last place, or conversely pick the team expected to come last and tear the division apart. Such is the similarities in players' abilities as you saunter down the divisions.

Its not actually as bad as previous versions of FM. You just have to spend a bit more time comparing skills.

The trouble is the higher turnover of players you get. And there are sides who pay players in my division,so losing my best players to them is always a possibility. Sounds like the NZFC really.

Well good luck. The key will be going pro, but i'm sure you know this already.

Edit: When i was at a semi pro club in Germany's 5th tier, the key to me not moving on to the next level and inevitably getting the sack was failing to go pro to compete with the 1 or 2 pro clubs that did exist in my league.Buffon II2011-05-31 13:42:15

Yeah hoping to get promotion,or go close to it. Then revenue may increase, and the board can free up funds.

They have a CVA of 8mill which I have to pay until 2021 at 68k per week. So that hinders the paying of wages.

Started the obligatory game as the Phoenix but also started a game as the manager of Ali G's home town club, Staines Town in the Blue Square Bet South. This might take a while.

after being head hunted from the nix by AC Milan and moving midway through their season - we finished 11th, this year we are sitting 2nd - I think it's 2021/2 season. theprof2011-06-08 10:34:49

Just finished my first season in the full game with the Nix, finished second in the league, behind the Fury!?!

Lost to them in the Major Semi final 3-2 in aggregate, and then lost to Perth in the Prelim Final.

Brought in some new players, got rid of Diego, so hopefully we can do better this season!

My Sunderland team is unstoppable at the moment.

Smashed Spurs at WHL 6-1, with my brilliant young Brazilian striker Panda bagging 5... played APOEL from Greece in Champions League next, and destroyed them 10-0 ... Panda pocketing another 4 goals in 60 minutes.

...But the highlight of the game being the oppositions Left Back Ali Nasser finishing the game with an average rating of ... 0.2 ! Two mistakes that led to goals, I've NEVER seen a player finish with a rating under one before, classic!

1/3 of the way through my 7th season... running away with Premier League title (that I finally won for the first time last season), to go along with 2 Champions League wins, 1 FA Cup, 2 European Super Cups, and 1 Club World Championship. Big aim now is to try and do the treble this season.

Fantastic squad, a number of typical FM stars (Phil Jones is captain, Igor Akinfeev in goals, Gareth Bale, Moussa Sissoko, Javier Pastore, Samir Nasri), but some brilliant young "regens" as well who should keep me in good stead for a long time to come.

I'm coming 2nd in the scottish 3rd division with my amateur (properly amateur, not ACFC amateur) club. The only club not paying players.

A few clubs starting to sniff round a few of my signings though. They can just take them at any time as they're only on amateur contracts.

My position on the table over time:

Started off really well, then just started losing all of a suddent halfway through the season. The last few games have been horriffic, 6-0, 5-1 and 8-1 losses to Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Adelaide repectively. Considering selling off most of my players and starting fresh next season.

Just note that, in FM11 more so than any previous game, the "gelling" of your team is crucial. Frequent and numerous purchases can disrupt team cohesiveness.

In my Sunderland game, I try to introduce no more than 2-3 players at a time into my team. I also place a massive emphasis on how they will fit into my team - personality wise, as well as how determined they are. A player generally needs determination of at least 16 or they won't cut it.

When getting scout reports, see how the scout thinks they will fit in personality wise. If the scout says "will take a bit of adapting to fit in", then I'll generally pass on buying the player. I've bought a couple of fantastic players (Hamsik & Nuri Sahin) who just never fitted in and never played very well.

A great example was a regen CB from Argentina I bought in 2nd season. He was a very talented player - freakish defensive and physical attributes - but he immediately thought he should be in my starting XI, got pissed off, and wouldn't sign a new contract - so I shipped him off for virtually nothing. Four seasons later, he's the best centre back in the game (according to scouts) playing for Man City, with amazing attributes, although he's still a bit of a t**ser. I actually really like this aspect of the game - for the first time you can't just buy all the "best" players in the game. (Fortunately I had a 50% of next transfer fee clause when I sold him, so I got around 10million - love that transfer clause!)

One alternative is to focus your match preparation on Team Blend - I normally do this for a few weeks at the start of each season to make sure everyone is up to speed with my tactics etc.

Thanks sawu, I brought some new players in during the transfer window, so that was probably what caused this issue. Might stick with some of the younger players with high potential coming through, as I can't afford to pay the wages of players like Ifill and North.

January you should really only bring in players for depth and 1 (maybe 2 if you're struggling)starting player for some impact. Too many does disrupt the side.
