The Suba-roos (Australian Men's Team)

Yeah - my impression also is that most Aussies are backing us and enjoying our run. The rivalry is really only when we're up against each other as far as I'm concerned. Sure a couple of evil t**sers at MCG, but the rest of the team are OK. Good luck to them.

I personally want to shut up the creeps on 442 who sneer and belittle the Nix and everything else that comes out of NZ football as inherently inferior. So, All Whites to second round and 'Roos crashing = perfect.

I would like to shut up Diego's Son.

I would expect him to appear soon to tell us how lucky we were and how it was entirely undeserved.

This. They need a wake up call. They are not the experienced world cup gods of world football they think they are.

Remember the condescending comments toward us leading into the WC?
Remember how they didnt want to play such a lowly team (us) as a warm up to the WC?
Remember when the game was arranged, all the bitching and moaning?
Remember how much they said they were going to thrash us?
Remember the talk about how we were a dirty team, and we would injure their precious superstars?
Remember who actually were dirty pricks?
Remember the condescending "its your fault for saying you were going to injure us" comments?

Yes,I want them to do badly. Yes I want to do better than them.

Normally id be supporting them. But not this time. They need to come back to reality, and hard.

He has not, because on SBS and Sky they have had said good things about the AW. You are always going to get a very small group that think differently.I have not heard or read anything bad.

I can vouch that pies, along with bitterness, sustain the original poster of that statement.

I agree, alot of the people on 442 seem to be nutbars, just pointing out there was some basis for his comments.

From Tribal Football - opening paragraph of the article.

Australia have been treated harshly again, being reduced to ten men in their 1-1 draw with Ghana.

and from 442

another world cup, cheated again , by an italian again. Or look at it this way, two games, two red cards, neither of which were red cards. This is a crime beyond reason, has australian football done something to piss off the world????

dick measuring aside, the attitude towards the All Whites over here and the attitude towards Australia on this forum leads me to believe the contrived 'rivalry' is growing more one way every year.

Do you blame us? The sh*t we got before the world cup,not just from Aussie fans, but from the FFA about not wanting to play a minnow.

Australia only seemed to jump on the all whites bandwagon with the rest of the world once we started doing well. Even taking a lot of credit and in particular the infamous "Australasia" headline.

funny how the resentment shown towards Australia isn't shown to the rest of the world as well. if everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon i expect the same underlying resentment for the rest of the world, too. oh but thinking the whole world is against you is just something those Aussies do isn't it? i also cringed at that headline, i hope you're not holding ordinary Australians accountable for what the print media does.

everyone over here loves seeing a team like the all whites get up, the sooner you stop ignoring the flogs on fourfoutwo etc. is the sooner you'll realize how stupid the resentment towards Australia looks from outside.

Im just saying its completely understandable. Why should we support you? Just because you are suddenly doing the same to us after a bit of a turnaround?

If someone can give me a good reason as to why i should lend my support to Australia (without the neighbours or ANZAC bollocks) then i might consider it.

Otherwise get stuffed. Hope Serbia dick ya.

it's not about supporting, it's about the pathetic jibing that goes on. i just don't know where it comes from (oh and it pre-dates the infamous MCG encounter)
it reminds me of the Canadian's attitude towards Americans, yet far less understandable.

I'll go further back then.  Here are another couple off the top of my head:

Tiatto breaking Killen's arm here in 2001.

Australia throwing a game against the Solomons to avoid having to play New Zealand in 2004.
