I was about to say, "where the f**k is Brazil!??", then it clicked, they're the hosts.

Sunday mornings eh..

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Wow, didn't expect Paraguay to be doing that badly, especially considering that they won our group in 2010.

But that is 3 years ago. How will our X1 look now compared to three years ago.

True, but I wouldn't have expected them to slide as far down as they have. Our starting XI has changed, but it is still rather similar in strength to four years ago, much more similar than Paraguay's is apparently.

Not so sure about that.

Argentina without Messi, Aguero, Tevez, Zabaleta and Garay draw against the worst Brazil of all time, especially David Luiz... how come this guy is an international footballer? poor intelligence, awful positioning and extremly slow

Chile in 5th, Argentina in 6th, and Colombia in 7th. We are so boned.

It's unbelievable how much Argentina are struggling without Messi. Aguero missed a penalty to give them at least a point. Losing at home to Paraguay... Jeez, rough times for Argentina.

Uruguay drawing to Colombia which gives Brazil their first lead in the CONMEBOL qualifiers in who knows how long. They're not choking as badly as they were at this stage last year as opposed to their southern neighbours Argentina. Theoretically Argentina will pick themselves up and we'll be facing Ecuador, Colombia or Chile, all three tough asks.

Hope Argentina don't improve and finish in that 5th spot. Would love to see Messi live (we are gonna lose the playoff anyway so may as well see Messi here)

I doubt Messi & Aguero would bother making the trip to NZ (if we are the oceania representatives).  Remember Mexico didn't send all their stars 3 years ago.  Argentina C team could beat us no problems.

Mexico were 5-1 up after the first leg!

The 1st leg of the playoff will be in Oceania this time around, so whoever the team is will likely send their strongest team to get a result

I didn't think they played their strongest line up for the first leg, but happy to be proven wrong.  Mainly I remember the absence of Chicarito

Brazil caning Argentina

Uruguay win in the early game so a victory in Chile next should see them through...

Argentina have to win their remaining 4 home games at a bare minimum. Surely they won't finish Fifth....

Table after Matchday 11:

On Wednesday (Tuesday South America) the fixtures are:

Home Away NZ Time
Bolivia Paraguay 9:00
Ecuador Venezuela 10:00
Argentina Colombia 12:30
Chile Uruguay 12:30
Peru Brazil 15:15

Things don't look that bad for Argentina despite today's loss as a win vs Colombia at the very least would put them in 5th place and in 4th if Chile can't defeat Uruguay.

Colombia haven't been performing against the big teams so they need to pick it up if they want to have any chance. Paraguay has been on really bad form lately with losses to Peru and Bolivia—they're their own worst enemy.

The question is whether Colombia can start performing better or else a team that did so well in the last World Cup with stars such as James Rodriguez and Falcao will be out. Their best hope is for Ecuador or Chile to drop off, but I'm not sure either of those will happen.

For all the hysteria of Argentina not qualifying their path doesn't look that difficult.

Brazil get the only away win of the day as they defeat Peru 2–0. This Brazil team is looking great. They've now earned themselves a 4 point gap at the top.

The next qualifiers will be in March 2017.
