Slightly off topic, but are these forum users still around? SiNZ? Colvinator? Harry Hotspur?

You used to get a notification if there was a new posting in a thread you've posted in and the new forums don't do that, so I generally forget to come back unless I'm already coming on to look at something - and the number of wind-up-merchants have meant I haven't been on the forums much in the last few years as the wanton stupidity is too much.

I don't know if Harry is still around. I didn't even see him at the Phoenix last season.

Lazy and incognito :-) PS Saw you running up the hill in Dutch colours today, SiNZ! Very impressive.

I'm looking forward to the Guardian's Lego re-enactment of that moment - they are posting animated Lego highlights of major games from the tournament.

Might find it here in a day or two (can enjoy the other ones already posted here including classic World Cup moments):

I like Zidane's headbutt from 2006  and the foul on Hulk leading to a pen in this tournament's opening game - nice landing on his bum.

The goal celebrations are also great...as are the hair-cuts on the little Lego figures.

I thought that should be retaken as the ball never entered the field of play?

You weren't the parent on the sideline of a junior match I was reffing a couple of years ago that tried to claim the very same thing when I awarded a goalkick :-)

As far as I know I don't have any kids. This would be an awkward place to find out haha.

Happened after his glaring miss on goal. Fried brain I'd say. Remember it well.

Johnson was much better today. I thought Baines and Welbeck were pretty average. It was poor defending by Baines that led to the second goal.

Agreed but where was Johnson defending at the back from the opposite side as well.  Missing in action

I think Johnson was tracking Marchisio's run into the box.

Yes he was, but only because he was too slow getting into his proper position. Balotelli should have been his man at the back stick. Pretty sure England defend zonally and mad Mario was defo in Johnson's zone. His tardiness has cost England IMO. He was the only defender not back is position: why? England need to try out some other RBs after the world cup. Enough is enough...

should Rooney move the the centre (9 or 10)?

Should move to the bench. Guy looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders when he plays at a WC.

Let's face it. Rooney will never perform in a World Cup. He had the equalizer on his foot but missed the target.

Agreed but you're not going to see a player off at this WC as a 2nd yellow for that. They'll want more violence to justify skewing the player balance.

England midfield non-existent.

What was that, two against six, seven including the keeper? Great goal but horrible to watch if you're an England fan.

England devoid of ideas. Welbeck,Sterling and Baines are woeful. Johnson not much better. Actually not one England player  deserves any praise. Probably the worst game so far Both teams are poor.

Disagree. Gerard is very much involved but as a deep lying play maker. I think they have Jordan Henderson trying to do the same role when he needs to be different type of player. England are not play making from 35 out right in front and building up solely through the wide channels.

The thing that is getting me is the quality of the England passing and quality overall.  Way too much hit and hope going on and even when a pass does hit a target, more often than not the first touch of the receiver is abysmal.

What's that referring to JV?

How embarrassing was that? On that performance they won't beat Costa Rica.

A good game, England played better then I thought they would. The scary thing is that was probably their best effort. Could be looking at last place in the group unless they back it up

Prescient.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

ok, lets look at the positives.

Rooney can actually score a goal even at such a long distance such as from 2 feet.

Gerrard really does have a permanent constipated look on his face regardless of the situation.

Wellbeck and Sturridge go down easily enough but they need to hone up on their acting skills to look more convincing.

Johnson tries to look like a RB even if he isnt.

The England midfield do a fantastic job of disappearing out of sight.

Robert Green - all is forgiven.

Uruguian chicks in  the crowd look smoking hot.

Exactly what you said. Joe Hart had another attack of 'lets give everyone the shits' when I posted that.

Pretty devastated to be out so soon. We usually manage to find a way to get through the group even when not expected though so I had expected we'd get to the 3rd game needing to win to go through, probably after 2 draws. Really thought we might score again after the equaliser but guess the best striker in the world was the difference in the end. Pity we couldn't have played them first when he was still out.

Have to say Hodgson got the team wrong. Wellbeck should never have started, and probably shouldn't have even been in the squad to be fair. Plenty of better options to play out wide whether it was Lallana, Barclay, Ox or even Wilshere. Wilshere should have started over Henderson as we just had no spark coming from midfield. Defence has been a mess which is a shame because quality centre backs and goalkeepers are traditionally something we usually have. Baines has been way out of his depth too and shoudn't have been picked ahead of Cole.

In a way it's a bit of a relief to get the hope out of the way early and have a tournament off the penalties. Can also feel a bit better about not making the trip now and I always tend to enjoy these things more once England were out as I can stop worrying about my team and who is going to play who and all that and just enjoy the rest of the games without caring who wins.

If anything it shows how unlikely Liverpool would have finished so high up the table without Suarez

Actually how many LFC players were on the pitch? The commentator mentioned that LFC had also pitched for Barkley and Lallana?
