Read on Flying Kiwis that SM has got a new striker who scored on the weekend, so Greive may end up on the bench rest of the season. Some situation like that.

St Mirren (5th) away to Devlin & his mates at Hearts (3rd). Only the top 3 teams have a +GD in the SPL (12 teams). The Big Firm dominate as always.

Edit - Greive on the bench. Baccus & Strain both start for SM.
Fellow Socceroos Devlin & Knowles start for Hearts. Garang Kuol on the bench.
Kuol (on loan from Newcastle) yet to score in the SPL. 7 games but only 1 start.

SM with an upset 2-0 win at Hearts. Greive came on at 76 mins (2-0).

The Aussies - for SM Baccus subbed at 90 mins & Strain a full game.
for Hearts Devlin off at 76 mins, Knowles full game & Kuol an unused sub

Hearts down to 10 men from 62 mins (2-0) so that would have helped SM no doubt.

SM cop a 5-2 hiding. Greive off the bench at 62 mins (2-1 Rangers).
Game back at 2-2 soon after, but then all Rangers after that.
Full game Strain, but no Baccus for St Mirren.

Greive on at 63 mins (0-2) in a 0-2 loss. SM went down to 10 men (68 mins) not long after Greive came on.

Despite the defeat, SM make the top 6 cutoff. Luckily Livingston also lost.

Greive gets a rare start of late for SM.

As usual in the SPL, Aussies everywhere.
James Jeggo starts for Hibs, with Lewis Miller on their bench.

Ryan Strain starts alongside Greive, with Keanu Baccus on the bench for SM.

Gets a goal for his reward too, his 4th of the season, and his first since October 22nd.

Still can't lead St Mirren to a positive result as they fall 2-1 to Hibernian.

Greive off at 81 mins (2-1). SM stay 6th.

However, St Mirren would pull one back four minutes later with Main the provider as he flicked Carson's long kick on for Greive who burst through and knocked through Marshall's legs to reduce the deficit.

Strain & Baccus start for St Mirren. But no Greive.

Last thing AWs need is for him to be out injured for Sweden.
2-3 week ankle injury apparently, and may have played his last game for Saints this season. Two SPL rounds left after today.

Edit - a 2-2 draw. 83 mins Strain & full game Baccus.

No Greive, as Saints lose 3-0. They went down to 10 men at 31 mins (1-0).
Strain & Baccus both started.

Final game this weekend hosting Rangers. Hopefully Greive is fit for the June AWs games.

Last SPL round, and St Mirren (6th) host Rangers (2nd). No Greive.
Strain & Baccus both start.

Edit - SM lose 0-3.

Greive finished an injury interrupted season (also missed some games with the death of his father) in the SPL with
12 starts
plus 16 sub appearances
4 goals

Only Kiwi worldwide currently scoring in like a Top 15 coefficient league.

Pre season underway in Scotland with the League Cup comp. St Mirren beat Arbroath 4-0. Greive a 73rd sub. New 20 yr old Israeli
signing Stav Nachmani, with a double off the bench.

Could be some tough competition for Greive this season.

From Flying Kiwis. Greive might start the SPL season down the pecking order at St Mirren.

Also through to the next round are St Mirren following a 4-0 win over Forfar. No dramas for them since losing their first game. They subsequently won three in a row following to finish top of their (admittedly kinda weak) group. However Alex Greive was an unused sub in the Forfar win as new attacking signings appear to have forced him down the pecking order. Doesn’t help when guys like Stav Nachmani and Mikael Mandron are coming in and immediately scoring League Cup goals. Greive only played 130 minutes across their four group stage games.

Great start for Alex. Came off the bench for St Mirren in the 68th minute with the Buddies 2-1 up. Hibs levelled to make it 2-2 a few minutes later but Grieve headed home the winner right at the end to earn his team an opening day victory.

English based All Whites fan! Would love to watch an All White game one day.

Good stuff Greive. 20 year old Israeli Stav Nahmani, who had been banging them in, in the preseason League Cup, stayed on the pine. Interesting that the gaffer went to AG first.

Very handy result for SM first up on the road in Edinburgh. Hibernian manager made 2 changes in the 29th min, with Hibs down 0-2.

Aussie count in this game -
SM - Baccus full game, Strain off at 91 mins.
Hibs - Martin Boyle off at 63 mins, replaced by 36 yr old Adam Le Fondre. James Jeggo on in the 81st min. Lewis Miller an unused sub.

From Flying Kiwis. You get the feeling Greive's a fighter, who won't give up his spot easily.

Thing is, he (Greive) may not have even played under other circumstances. The Buddies have stocked up their striker shelves over the summer which led to AG only getting 130 minutes combined across their four League Cup group games – not even playing at all in the last of them. That day it was new signing Mikael Mandron who started up front (and scored a brace in a 4-0 win over Forfar) with Olusanya subbing in for him at half-time. Mandron was named to start against Hibs too... but was a late scratch due to an injury sustained in warm-ups. Thus Olusanya joined Conor McMenamin up front (both also new signings) and Greive was the bloke brought on with twenty to go instead of Olusanya as might otherwise have been the case.

Both Kiwis come off the pine. Greive with 2nd goal for SM in a 2-2 draw.

A SPL game where the number of Kiwis equalled number of Aussies.
Baccus & Strain both with full games for SM (2nd). If SM had hung on for the win, they would be top of the table! Aberdeen 10th.
