About the English language thing: It's taught in most schools in Poland and thanks to the Polish labourer exodus to the UK 20/25 years ago, many Poles are fluent along with their children. Language will not be a problem.

Keeping him away from those hot Polish women might be though 😉

First clean sheet of the season for Alex, 2-0 win.

Lechia's first win of the season. They stay bottom on GD.
Flashscore gave Paulsen a 7.0 rating, about mid range for the team.

Some match highlights if you can set your VPN for Poland or something clever.

Download FotMob and you can access the highlights through there.

Find Lechia Gdansk through the search function, or like myself you can search for Alex Paulsen and click on the latest match played (should be a list of them) and it will come up with the match summary, along with the highlights video up the top somewhere there.

Eventful game. 4-3 win to Lechia Gdansk, both teams scoring after the 90 was up.

Looks like Gdansk missed a pen as well.

Valley FC til I die?

Couldn’t have done any better on those goals - first was an absolute rocket of a scissor kick, second was a perfectly placed one-on-one finish after a defensive breakdown, and was sent the wrong way on the penalty for the third.

Getting a ton of plaudits online. One tweet saying he’ll “play for many years in the Premier League”

Well Gdansk are winning games since Paulsen arrived. Consecutive wins to rise up to 17th (2nd last).

They would be 7th or 8th, if not for their -5 point penalty to start the season, due to some irregularities.

Again if I was Baze I'd start AP against Poland. Crocs might have an injury anyway, pulled out after the warmup for Millwall's game at Palace.

Agree totally, gotta give Paulsen a chance between the sticks at an international level

Queenslander 3x a year.

Yep, plenty of other positions, others have had an opportunity to strut their stuff and put their hand up.

Alex hasn’t really had the same opportunities and I suspect was disadvantaged because he is in Baz’s eye line all the time at AFC.

This position is never substituted in the game and even if you are a Max lover, at the very least getting him on the field with the usual suspects in defence could well be crucial at some point.

Deep down I think most also want him to be the number one come the World Cup.

Auckland will rise once more

Alex had made no errors there. Or at least none that have made the highlights. That’s an enormously valuable quality- reliability. Everything you’d ’expect a goal keeper to do’ he’s done there. And made a couple of very good saves as well. That’s the kind of performance that can frustrate opposition.

The other keeper has made two amazing saves, but also let in two soft goals. And if you think of the FCK goal keeper too, against Silkeborg.

Consistency of reliable performances is surely something that gets you noticed quickly.

Looks like Paulsen made the right move going to Gdansk. Starting every game and playing well. Must be fun playing in front of big passionate crowds like that.

Poland Cup. Lechia travel to 2nd tier Pogon GM. Different Pogon club than their prior match.

I think Pogon is a prefix used by a few clubs, not sure it has any geographical significance. Mainland will know, surely

Again, not at fault for any of the goals as he yet again falls victim to one of the most disheveled defensive units I've seen in professional football

For reference, better or worse than West Ham?

Three for me, and two for them.

Heading to Polish club Lechia Gdańsk on loan.

Fudge, that'd be a grim place to live
Gdansk is genuinely beautiful, along the waterfront in the old town would give Copenhagen and Amsterdam a run for their money for how picturesque it is.

It has a rough reputation from decades prior, although their ultras (as MrSmiis pointed out earlier) are fudgeing terrifying - that could be applicable to many teams in the Ekstraklasa though. Will certainly be a sharp comparison to a few feverites calling him a wanker, that's for sure.

I’m late to this, but Gdansk is a fantastic city. It’s very beautiful, peaceful, high quality of living if you’re making decent money.

Lots of Scandinavian’s go there on holiday.

Rare bad Paulsen mistake for the first goal conceded. To be fair seems the pitch may not have been that true.

Lots of smart saves after that, but nothing he could do about Rakow's 2nd pile driver goal.

Rakow down to 10 men in the first half (1-1) hanging on grimly at the end as Lechia sought a 2nd equaliser
