I see Bill has made an addition to his stable with a club in the top league of Portugal. Maybe a chance there as well to keep it within the family?

Keep in mind Joe Gauci went from Adelaide to Villa, basically sat on the pine for a season before a loan move to Barnsley in League One. There yes he is the starting GK, and pushing Matt Ryan for his Socceroos spot

RR

They signed the starting keeper from Austrian side TSV Hartberg.

Hopefully something else waiting in the wings for Paulsen. He has to be in Europe next season doesn't he? He's got nothing left to prove in the A-League.

This season for AFC was not ideal for his development when he was already good enough to be playing somewhere better, another season in NZ would indicate Bournemouth have no interest in actually developing him.

He’s off to Europe, that much is certain.

Oooh! Oooh! AFC Wimbledon need a keeper for League 1, and they've got experience with Kiwis!

As others have said if he was straight away starting at that level, why not. Worst places to live than leafy SW London.

You'd hope in League One he'd quickly be a standout, and after a season there some Championship clubs would be talking to The Cherries about a loan deal for 26/27.

Paulsen at 22 (23 next month) still so very young for a keeper.
07 Jun 08:21
He has worked with a pretty well connected Gk coach for past 12 months, no doubt putting good word in for him.
07 Jun 19:04
I'd like to see him at a Championship side to really push him to the next level or in Holland.

I wonder if Bournemouth will sign a new starting keeper this season with Kepa looking to go to Arsenal. They have Travers and Neto returning but I'd say both of those options would be competing for reserve keeper, with the other one being sold/loan. So we could be finding out soon who Paulsen will be having to dislodge in a few years if he ever does make the first team.

Who's his loyalty to? 4 teams that could possibly meet in a European competition.

Scratch off his Bournemouth debut! Came on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Hibs, as the Cherries open their preseason

Awesome

And possibly even better news, Bournemouth have sold Mark Travers to Everton

Great for the Phoenix if he keeps ticking off the milestones because it means at some point the addons start to take place and they start getting more money.

He will replace Kepa

Kepa's gone, but Neto's back.

Dorde Petrovic. Damn.

So, theoretically possibly number three keeper. Not too bad. Gets him training with these guys.

On the bench vs Everton in a pre season game.

Neto leaving for Brazil, presumably moves Paulsen up the GK rankings at Bournemouth for the time being.

Wonder if AP will just stay around the Cherries until the January window. Be in goal as an o/a player for their U21s.

Big learning curve for him at the moment, and he will be soaking up alot being in high intensity EPL trainings each day, around top top players. High quality coaching and facilities. 6 months doing that day in day out, could be great in the long term for his development.

05 Aug 02:16
That’s good, well if they don’t replace then it will be between him and Will Dennis for the bench spot.

Dennis got half an hour on their preseason tour while admittedly Alex didn’t get on the pitch.

Would back him however to become number two.

Don’t think at his age having a season on the bench in the premiership and some cup games would hurt his development

Think Alex has done well to avoid a preseason where the Cherries have given away a lot of goals.

05 Aug 02:50
Not being on the pitch while goals are being conceded will certainly get the fans asking questions why he isnt being tried at least.

His biggest problem would be a season on the bench could cost him a WC spot if Nik max oli and Michael are all starting and doing ok

Why not? If you have players playing week in week out and doing well why shouldn’t they be selected for a guy who’s warming the bench? I think for this upcoming window he is safe and i’m still expecting Smith to get selected, but after that game time and form start to come into it in my opinion

From Sky UK:
Bournemouth have agreed a deal with Botafogo forgoalkeeper Neto.
The 36-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, was heading into the final year of his Bournemouth contract and has agreed to join the Brazilian side.
Neto headed straight to Brazil from Bournemouth's pre-season tour of the United States to complete his medical and finalise the deal.
The Premier League club will make a significant saving on his wages, as he was one of the highest paid players at the club.
Since his arrival in August 2022, he made 61 Premier League appearances.

AP one step closer to staying at the Cherries for this season

A season training day in day out with an EPL club, sprinkled with say appearances for the U21s is of higher value than a season in goal in the ALM. Each day at the Cherries he would be challenged at a level way above, his prior time in the ALM.

As MM says madness to think he's not clearly one of the top 2 AW keepers. The real battle is for the 3rd keeper spot.

That’s the good thing about this forum, people can have different views. The advantage of this differing view is that we will get an answer come WC time, of course there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge before then, AP could very well end up starting over in the prem, others may get injuries or some could cash in from others above getting injured
